We go Waddington Air Show every year. Great day out.

Bit good at paint aint ya Shrenchel.

Saw them flying about over Lincoln on Tuesday.

Love old WWII aircraft  and modern aircraft like the Typhoon.

Copenhagens not much better and half the shops in the terminal seem to be run by scousers.

At least you haven't been stuck in Copenhagen with the boss who hates you, and her hubby who thinks you're great >_<

Junkers-Ju-390.jpg

The Junkers Ju 390 was of a long range heavy bomber aircraft design. It was made to fulfill the German ambition to attack the eastern coast of the USA. It is also called as "The New York Bomber".

The prototypes flew in August and October 1943. It was rumored that by flying from Mont-de-Marsan to a point 20km from New York, and back, Ju 390 almost displayed its full potential.

St Martin/Maarten is a peculiar French/Dutch co-owned territory (the latter being Netherlands Antilles, and lobbying for independence). Towards the end of WWII, the Americans built the airport, imagining that - as Germany had invaded both 'parent' countries - should the outcome of the war be other than it was, this particular island would acquire strategic significance beyond its size.

Not what you'd call beautiful exactly, but a ridiculous feat of engineering for 1947.

Almost as long as an Airbus A380 and a wider wing-span. Unsurprisingly, it only ever made one flight.

Was that another German bomber built to fly long distances?

On second look I'm guessing it's a cargo plane :dunno:

Of course, I knew it looked familiar.

It truly is an engineering beast.
