It'd be nice to sign him up permanently if he does well for us on loan... certainly that looks like it's an option for us.

However, I still think we should push Sunderland to try and get Waggy as he's been great for us and having him and Vaughan up front together could be a really good move as it'd be fast, powerful and a down right nuisance for defenses to defend against. :D

I think it has the potential to be a very good signing providing he can keep fit. Been involved in the Everton first team setup on a reasonably consistent basis (when fit) for a few years now so there must be something there.

Provides some much needed competition for the different type of striker he is anyway, Waghorn's not alone anymore.

well, from the MM interview, it sounds like Nige really really wanted him...

having said that the same interview kinda contradicts what was initially suggested about him being off-loaded in the summer, that bit about 'getting some experience'....

In this day and age with the financial problems and the amount of football clubs going out of business even in the premiership that isn't really a realistic option though is it?

Horrifically mismanaged clubs. It's not that unfeasible to run a sustainable football club.

I think the issues leicetser are facing is that we have 3 clubs coming down each year that will have a significantly bigger wage budget due to the parchute payments. Some other championship teams have multi-millionaire owners far richer than MM. Granted, once we get to the premier league we will have no excuse NOT to be self sufficient But until then, and if we really want to compete with we will have to rely on MM. IF his claims are correct that he is funding us to the tune of 5m each year... well take out 5m from our budget Based on fees AND wages we would probably of not signed gallagher, Waghorn , Bruce or Hobbs this season..... This could of had a knock on effect to our position in the league with ambitious players like Fryatt fancying their chances of prem football with other teams, lower attendances ( from wat would most likely be a lower legue position we would be in) meaning even less money... would we even of been able to keep hold of pearson if richer championship teams came knocking promising him a bigger budget for the squad? Maybe i am over-disecting, but i am sure you get the point...

Should hopefully turn out to be a decent bit of business. One thing that does worry me slightly is why are Everton so eager to get rid of him?

If i'm honest i've never really rated him that highlty. Plus he's ridiculously injury prone.

But i'm not about to turn him down :P

Month loan deal is a good option, monitor his fitness, and if he stays match fit, get him in for the rest of the season. Probably come on 87th minute vs Cardiff and break a metatarsal

Spoke to a few Everton fans about the lad today, if it wasn't for injuries, he'd be in their first team most weeks apparently.

Watched him play against Carlisle in the FA cup this year, got a goal and played well leading the line. I know it was only Carlisle, but he seemed good.

Potentially a great signing, fingers crossed it's another stroke of genius from NP :appl:

Could be an excellent bit of business.

That is a little concerning........

Vaughan has only started 13 games in 6 seasons.

Fingers crossed he can stay fit and find form.

Has potential to be a good signing but as mentioned, a lot going to rely on him staying fit.

With this signing it seems that Pearson might actually fancy playing the two up top, thankfully. Although wouldn't be a massive fan of seeing Gally out wide.

Everton fan here.

You've got yourselves a good loan deal there, if James stays fit (which he's not done a bad job of this year so far) he's a great asset to most teams. He's definitely got the ability to succeed in the Championship and the potential to one day be a frequent starter for us.

As to why we are 'so eager to get rid of him', we play a 4-5-1 system and with the likes of Yakubu and Louis Saha in our squad, it's easy to see why James doesn't get much game time.

I'll be watching out to see how he does for you and hopefully he fires you back into the Premiership.

Well it's been shown that in a 442 formation whoever we have up front the midfield is not consistently either creative enough (using Oakley, King, Wellens + one Winger) or not strong enough (using two from 3 of Oakley, King, Wellens + two wingers).

Well it was also shown on Saturday that playing a 5 doesn't really work either against a side that had just been whacked.

I never went but it seems that it was more to do with attitude & complacency then any particular formation. Certainly the feedback was that almost everybody performed badly indicating that rather than formation was the significant problem.

Like most people have said, i think he will be a good signing if he stays fit. I still think we will go for the 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 approach with Vaughan playing furthest forward and maybe Waggy playing in a slightly wider role.

Top signing, pleased with this. Fingers crossed he stays fit.

This is what I was thinking. I'm guessing the other report was just newspaper speculation and Milans words are most probably nearer the truth. If Moyes wanted to get rid I doubt he'd be playing him when he's fit as he has been.

Pearson: Vaughan Adds Another Dimension

Posted on: Thu 11 Mar 2010Foxes boss Nigel Pearson believes new signing James Vaughan could prove crucial as City aim to cement their place in the play-offs.

The 21 year old has joined Leicester on an initial month long loan deal, in a bid to force his way back into the first team reckoning at Goodison Park.

With Matty Fryatt still sidelined, the Foxes' gaffer felt his team needed something extra in attack and Pearson believes that Vaughan fits the bill.

"He's a player that we've spoken about for quite a long period of time now. We feel that he is the right type of player to give us another dimension in this important run in.

I'm delighted that we've been able to go out and bring a player of his calibre. He's brave and he's got pace and the qualities that he brings would add to any squad."

Even without Fryatt there is still fierce competition for places up-front and Pearson admits it may be difficult to keep all his strikers content.

"When you look at the players we have available in forward positions we've got a lot of options. It's not always going to be able to people happy, but we have to give ourselves the best chance of keeping the momentum going."

Vaughan has spent a lot of time on the sidelines since becoming the Premier League's youngest ever goalscorer aged just sixteen. Despite the forward's track record with injuries Pearson believes it is a risk worth taking.

"There are always risks with any player but the way the deal is structured is good for all parties. What you have to do is back your judgement.

One or two of the injuries he has picked up is due to the fact he is so brave and those are the sort of qualities we're looking for."
