MC Prussian Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Still no news on their Championship page yet - this move must've slipped the BBC's radar completely. Is it but a dream? When Mandaric mentioned signing a Premiership striker I knew it would be too good to be true.

Foxhateram Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Can see Waghorn going back out wide like he was playing when Fryatt was fit. With vaughan playing the Lead striker role, holding up the ball/ flicking it on. Probably wouldnt start with that on saturday though, i think vaughan needs a bit longer to get to know his team mates better before playing a game. Probably see him making a sub appearance in place of waggy late on in the game.
Corky Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 I reckon Dyer will be on bench and Vaughan will replace. Dyer as impact sub is preferable imo. Dyer's been in good form lately. Others should be dropped before him.
ACF Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Beeb- http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/l/leicester_city/8563806.stm Leicester City beat Derby County to James Vaughan swoop Leicester City have beaten Championship and East Midlands rivals Derby County to the one-month loan signing of Everton striker James Vaughan. The 21-year-old had a loan spell at Pride Park in September, playing twice, and Rams boss Nigel Clough had hoped to re-sign him on loan. The England Under-21 international has made 57 appearances for the Toffees, scoring nine goals. City have the option to extend the loan deal until the end of the season. He acts as cover for the injured Matty Fryatt at the Walkers Stadium and could make his debut against Cardiff on Saturday. Foxes chairman Milan Mandaric said: "It was unfortunate to lose Matty Fryatt but James is a proper player. "It wasn't simple. The player was wanted by other teams. I have a good relationship with the Everton chairman and I said to him that my manager would like the player and your manager wants him to get additional experience so let's close the deal."
MikeyT Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 See we are still a massive club, he says so himself on the OS "I'm delighted to be here, Leicester are a massive club".
lou Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Now listen ere 'Vaughany' if you think you can just walk into this 'massive club' and start scoring goals then................ thats fine, who am I to argue, go ahead Son!
Alexikokopops Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Don't really see what the fuss is about. It's been said before, but he's injury prone, has an average goalscoring record and didn't pull up any trees at Derby. He was only at Derby for two games, it's not easy to "pull up trees" with that amount of time
Trav Le Bleu Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Quite pleased with this, but adopting a wait and see pose. I hope this means we start selling some Everton merchandise in the club shop, I'd love some of that. Toffees?
Liamlcfc1 Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 maybe he was so fed up with the way the Sheep played he gave himself injury to get outta there
dandannieldanok Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Not entirely sure how he'll fit into the current system, doesn't seem like the 'lone-striker' type to me but I guess we won't know until he plays. Surprised we bothered really if all this stuff about tight finances is correct, we're not exactly that short up front with Fryatt on the mend, although it's nice to have some added pace. Hopefully he can make a quick impact.

You're right that is the implication, I should probably read a bit more before opening my mouth, but I'm still optimistic he can play a part.

Guest Bilo Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 How much would he cost on a permanent if the option to buy him comes about? I can't imagine us being able to afford him unless we were promoted as Everton won't accept peanuts for a lad who seems so highly regarded by the fans.
StanSP Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Some Everton fans I've spoken to say £5m. I know that's very steep, but apparently they rejected a potential £6m last summer (?).
Guest Bilo Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Some Everton fans I've spoken to say £5m. I know that's very steep, but apparently they rejected a potential £6m last summer (?). As I suspected then, not a hope in hell of affording him unless promoted. Can't imagine his wages being low either. Still, if he can provide that extra something till the end of the season our chances of achieving promotion will be greatly increased.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 5 million? No chance. No chance they'd want that much or no chance we'd pay that much? I hope the former would be true.
StanSP Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Also, apparently Derby offered 750k to get him back on loan, but Everton rejected that
Fox You Forest Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Who in their right mind would offer £6m for someone with an injury record like that. I think £5m is well wide of the mark but what do I know.
Ozwin Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 What club's offering £6m for a player that's barely had 20 starts? What a load of rubbish.
Edmund Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 No chance they'd want that much or no chance we'd pay that much? I hope the former would be true. I was thinking more the first point. He is a very good potential but I just cant see how he can be valued at £5m when he's played so few games. Saying that, with a lot of deals based on add ons and appearances then maybe it could total that. But I'm in the same camp as you, I'm guessing we only have a deal if we get promoted.
