MC Prussian Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Need a win against Preston to secure a playoff spot for sure. Great performance from everyone. Scoring two more with ten men is surely a display of quality and determination. Spearing MOTM. One goal, one assist.
purpleronnie Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Great win. Slightly better off than we were, one less game to play and now a better goal difference. Pity forest couln't do us a favour.

Scoring two more with ten men is surely a display of quality and determination. Spearing MOTM. One goal, one assist. This.. Great performance today by the sounds of it. Pearson 10/10 for still staying positive when Howard walked. Preston is not an easy game though as we've only won there once since the 50's, but we should be going there full of confidence after that.
Edmund Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 If Middlesborough lose or draw against West Brom later, we will only need 3 points from the last two games to secure a play off place. :city:
EmLeee Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Fantastic result - especially playing the whole of the 2nd half with 10 men. Shame the other results didn't go our way but looking forward to next week at Preston even more now!
Brainy Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8623253.stm Not very football league is it? It's usually pretty decent but no updates since half-time.. there was like three updates throughout the day.
FoxyPV Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 A great performance today - controlled the game with 10 men except when we stopped concentrating for the goal. Spearing was excellent as was Brown. Very assured and composed. I do not fear any team in the playoff positions at the moment - we are picking up our form again at the right moment. Just a pity the trees didn't do us a favour. Preston will be a hard match but I expect at least a point especially if we can continue to play like we did today. Playoffs here we come .
Guest parky0607 Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 I don't think Preston will be a difficult match at all ... they've got absolutely nothing to play for, their support is appalling and they're general home form isn't spectacular. They have beat us 2-1 twice this season but both occasions were very early on. Got my ticket for the game the other day, although forgot to ask where I'm sat, some views at deepdale can be shocking doooohhh!

They have nothing to play for, and they're a fairly average team. If Leicester pressure them, a win is definitely possible.
mikey54 Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 BBC East Midlands News report that we have secured a play off place. Just proves what they know about football
purpleronnie Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Exactly. They have nothing to play for, and they're a fairly average team. If Leicester pressure them, a win is definitely possible. Not sure, didn't they beat us already? I know they have nothing to play for now but I've always thought were a bit of a bogey team for us. Boro at home is far from easy either. Lets just hope others slip up then it wont matter anyway.

Bellend Sebastian Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 I thought they were excellent today - really patient and stuck to the task well. Almost the same scoreline as the QPR game but a more convincing performance. I was a bit worried about Vaughan - just after he scored his goal he seemed to be having trouble with his stomach and I thought for a second he was signalling that he wanted to come off, but he seemed to recover after that. I wouldn't be surprised to hear he's out again though, because wasn't it a stomach problem last time?
Anish Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Great performance and result. The whole team played well and fought for the cause, even after Howard let the team down. Spearing was excellent and deserved his goal. Vaughan also had a big impact and was surprisingly strong and good in the air for his size. Next week will be a difficult game but we're on form and should be confident of getting a result.
Matt Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Very Happy, Great Win, but somewhat overshadowed by a Blackpool win, nothing we can do about that obviously, apart from not letting DJ Campbell go out on loan there Still great win and perofrmance to go with it, Wasn't going to Preston next week due to expense of travel - Was going to save money for the playoffs but might go now. In our hands but nothing has really changed apart from the amount of games left - which from our point of view is a positive in itself. Oh and another game...another shite referee.
dandannieldanok Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Great win, the players really dug in and saw the game out well. Wasn't the most fluid performance ever but there is a lot of quality out there and we scored 3 cracking goals. The defending was top notch as it pretty much always is. On a sour note, Howard let his teammates down badly, completely unnecessary tackle.
The Doctor Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 good performance. I'd really like to know what was going through howards head, terrible challenge and the kop's reaction bordered on embarassing. Mind you the ref made some perculiar desicisions such as the times the watford players shoved a city player in the back or handled it and the ref ignored it. good performance from kermorgant and vaughan after coming on. Vaughan did brilliant to create the first and a good finish for the second, Kermorgant played some beautiful passes including the one to put vaughan in for his goal, did well to create a chance for adams pulling the defender away before flicking it down for adams but when he was one on one with that defender i feel he should have took it on and tried a shot.
rico Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Great win today, was good to see we remained positive after the dismissal of Howard Have to say though, thought the ref had a shocker!
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Great win. Everyone played well. Nice to see goals coming from 4 different players, this can only help us in the playoffs(should we get there) because we won't be relying on 1 person to score. Vaughan looked lively when he came on. Spearing put in a good performance n all. Buzzing for Preston now. What did people think of the atmosphere today? And also what went on in the Watford end?
Legend_in_blue Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 The referee needs to book himself a plane ticket, get on the next plane out of this country when this no-fly zone is lifted, and never come back to referee again. He was a disgrace. He was so utterly clueless, the 4th official was constantly telling him what was going on, on other parts of the pitch, to keep him up to speed via those earpieces they wear. She was probably reading out the rules of the game as well. Chinese whispers gone pear shaped. His most ludicrous decision, the one where he waved away a clear foul for a high boot to the head, when he gave his decision on that felt that the player (I think it was Vaughan, I was so incensed at the time it might not have been) had put his head in the way of the foot of the opposing player. Therefore no foul. This happened before the very fair challenge where Vaughan won the ball cleanly to which the referee brandished a yellow card! Total joke.
Webbo Posted 17 April 2010 Posted 17 April 2010 Great match. I thought it was very even until we scored(was it a penalty, I couldn't be sure?). Very hard to pick a MOTM everyone played well, even Howard until he made that needless challenge.
