SOCCERROO FOX Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Australia just annouced there world cup squad......a whopping 31 players Michael Beachamp, Marco Bresciano, Tim Cahill, Nick Carle, David Carney, Scott Chipperfield, Jason Culina, Brett Emerton, Adam Federici, Eugene Galekovic, Richard Garcia, Vincenzo Grella, James Holland, Brett Holman, Mile Jedinak, Brad Jones, Joshua Kennedy, Harry Kewell, Shane Lowry, Scott McDonald, Mark Milligan, Craig Moore, Lucas Neill, Jade North, Thomas Oar, Nikita Rukavytsya, Mark Schwarzer, Carl Valeri, Dario Vidosic, Luke Wilkshire, Rhys Williams No real surprizes really, the player everyone wanted in was 18 yr old Tommy Oar hope he makes the final 23.
shen Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 The Danish preliminary 30-man squad. The ones in bold are the big surprises: Goalies: Thomas Sørensen (Stoke City FC); Stephan Andersen (Brøndby); Kim Christensen (IFK Göteborg); Jesper Christiansen (FC København) Defenders: William Kvist Jørgensen (FC København); Lars Jacobsen (Blackburn); Simon Kjær (US Città di Palermo); Per Krøldrup (ACF Fiorentina); Daniel Agger (Liverpool FC); Patrick Mtiliga (Malaga); Simon Poulsen (AZ Alkmaar) Midfielders: Martin Jørgensen (AGF); Christian Poulsen (Juventus); Daniel Jensen (Werder Bremen); Jakob Poulsen (AGF); Michael Silberbauer (Utrecht); Dennis Rommedahl (Ajax); Jesper Grønkjær (FC København); Thomas Kahlenberg (Wolfsburg); Thomas Enevoldsen (Groningen); Michael Krohn-Dehli (Brøndby); Christian Eriksen (Ajax) Strikers: Mikkel Beckmann (Randers); Jon Dahl Tomasson (Feyenoord); Søren Larsen (Duisburg); Nicklas Bendtner (Arsenal) Players on stand-by: Anders Møller Christensen (Odense BK); Leon Jessen (FC Midtjylland); Mikkel Thygesen (FC Midtjylland); Morten "Duncan" Rasmussen (Celtic) Plenty of routine in this side and if the core of the team (Sørensen, Kjær, Agger, C. & J. Poulsen and Bendtner) are fit and in form, this team will stand every chance of progression to the knockout stages. But many players have been injured or off form lately and we still have a huge problem at left-back with Mtiliga and S. Poulsen surprisingly getting the nods despite having just four caps in all. The rabbit-in-the-hat Thomas Enevoldsen and in particular the prodigious Christian Eriksen are the most discussed names and should add some spark to the side.
Fosse Fox Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 He's not. Hes came out and said he wants to be considered again after all that went on in the past. Even though he has played not part whatsoever in the qualifying group there is no reason why England should cut off their nose to spite their face. It wouldn't surprise me to see him in the 30 man pre-liminary squad. The Scouse git won't have the kop there to psyche the ref out of pointing to the spot at his Wrestle Mania impressions. Strange how these retired England 'C' listers suddenly become available for a major tourno just after their clubs have had a shite season and they're about to be shown the door. Ginger minge Scholes will be next...
ozleicester Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Was going to do a squad full of people who are either old, dead or shite but couldn't be arsed listing them all. Maddog beat you to it

Strange how these retired England 'C' listers suddenly become available for a major tourno just after their clubs have had a shite season and they're about to be shown the door. Ginger minge Scholes will be next... What a retard you are! If you are stupid enough to think Carragher is not easily in the top five defenders in England then you should have no opinion on the England squad, he retired because people like Wes Brown were being played ahead of him and it wasnt because Liverpool have had a bad year he decided to come out of retirement, Capello has seen what a good player he is and has been asking him to comeback to the England set up during our qualification campaign. Looking like Capello is not going to pick Gareth Barry now because of his ankle ligament damage, Owen Hargreaves to make the 30 man squad - personally I think Scotty Parker should be Barry's replacement.
Joe. Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 ^ Also says Johnson and Zamora are expected to be name in the 30 man provisional, I guess he'll see how they do in training to see whether they make the cut.

I've no doubt he's a decent player mate but I just think his attitude has stunk. He retires because he's not getting picked, basically he couldn't be bothered to join up with England and then sit on the bench, not really the greatest of attitudes in my opinion. Now he's got a sniff he's ready to come out of retirement coming towards the end of his career, just seems a bit daft to me. I'd much rather have the likes of Dawson ahead of him, who for me has had a better season and is a better long term solution.
Samilktray Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 I dont rate Carragher that highly, I'd agree with Ched on Dawson, had a great season. I wouldnt take Joe Cole neither, has looked poor and off the pace since returning for Chelsea, much better players ahead of him now.
AyewJoking Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Is it compulsary to have three keepers? Wouldn't FIFA let you call up an emergency keeper if the worst happened and both keepers were unable to play? here's my squad: GK David James - its worrying at his age he is still the best option we have when fully fit. Lets hope he keeps the calamities to a minimum! GK Joe Hart - theres not alot between a handful of mediocre English keepers so this seasons form should count, Hart has done well at an over-achieving Birmingham this season. GK Paul Robinson - Has experience and Blackburn have had a fairly solid season. A sound 2nd or 3rd choice keeper. DF Rio Ferdinand - Has struggled with injuries which suggest time is catching up with him but as captain he will definitely start (if fit!!) DF John Terry - Despite off field scandal and some questionable onfield performances, Terry has captained Chelsea to the title and should start alongside Rio. DF Glen Johnson - Worries remain about the gaps he will leave at the back when he bombs forward but seems Capello's first choice by a mile. DF Ashley Cole - A couple of months back and Coles World Cup hopes were hanging by a thread but he has came back in time and is sure to start. DF Michael Dawson - Impressive season at Spurs. Capello looks set to reward him with a place in the squad. DF Ledly King - His spurs form has seen him more than fight his way back into the reckoning. DF Wes Brown - In just ahead of is Man Utd team mate Gary Neville. DF Joleen Lescott - With the absence of Wayne Bridge, Lescott gets the nod. MF Frank Lampard - Great goal scoring form for Chelsea this season and will be a key player. MF Steven Gerrard - Unclear as to where he will play now Gareth Barry is out but hopefully Capello will use him offensively. MF James Milner - Good season at Villa and will surely be in the squad. I'd tip him to start. MF Adam Johnson - Big opportunity for him to shine, may have to do so as a substitute though. MF Michael Carrick - Could well get the midfield anchor man role. MF Theo Walcott - Inconsistant but a very useful weapon to bring on as a substitute. MF Joe Cole - Probably wont start due to his failure to get back his place at Chelsea. MF Ashley Young - A good attacking option for England to have on the bench. FW Wayne Rooney - The best season of his career so far has been blotted by recent injury concerns but he remains Englands best hope of glory. FW Emile Heskey - Rises to the occasion in an England shirt but will have to be on top form to keep his place. FW Peter Crouch - Scores for fun at international level and a contender for Englands leading scorer if he gets the gametime. FW Jermaine De Foe - Will likely have to settle for a place on the bench but he has the ability to shine once he gets his chance.
Tommy G Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Scholes Return for 30 man Squad Better option than Carrick but I doubt he will persuade him out of retirement
Edmund Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 I'd love to see Scholes back in the fold. He always gives it his all.
Tommy G Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Agreed - would be a good option in a 3 man midfield. Will never play a whole game, but useful for a 2nd half stint or to start and come off after 60 mins.
Tommy G Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Turns down England recall My dad txt me saying the squad had been announced a few minutes ago but it's yet to hit the internet?

No versatile defender (Carragher or Jagielka)? Carrick ahead of Huddlestone? Heskey ahead of Zamora? No Darren Bent? I'm a bit perplexed by that
Spencer Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 1. James 2. Hart 3. Green 4. Terry 5. Ferdinand 6. A Cole 7. Johnson 8. King 9. Carragher 10. Upson 11. Gerrard 12. Lampard 13. Barry 14. Lennon 15. Milner 16. Wright - Phillips 17. Carrick 18. J Cole 19. Rooney 20. Crouch 21. Defoe 22. Bent 23. Walcott This was my exact list, except Carragher in for Warnock!

Heskey ahead of Zamora? No Darren Bent? I'm a bit perplexed by that Aaron Lennon. Is he fully fit? If so i suppose i could swap him with joe cole. Lescott can play left back and centre i forgot about carragher i'll swap him with brown. i prefer carrick to huddlestone i dont rate zamora dont really need bent so long as others are fit.

Looking like Capello is not going to pick Gareth Barry now because of his ankle ligament damage, Owen Hargreaves to make the 30 man squad - personally I think Scotty Parker should be Barry's replacement. Out of his own mouth the disabled condemns himself. A top five defender eh? Kind of tallies with my assessment of him as an England 'C' lister when you THINK about it. The Scouse git retired because 'people like Wes Brown' were being played ahead of him. Sounds like you don't have a particularly high opinion of the Manure second stringer - so when you THINK about it where does that leave Carragher in the international pecking order? And considering that the red shite ignored Capello's calls to come out of retirement and be part of England's third string pairing during the qualification campaign why has the twat suddently gone arse over tit and answered the clarion call now just before the finals? Couldn't be anything to do with it being a bit of a jolly going to a major tourno (without having had to go through all the jet lag followed by compulsory away day defeat to Barnstoneworth United)? Couldn't be anything to with P7 in the Premier League, Champions League Group Stage exit, FA Cup giant killing fodder could it? Or those rumours about natural wastage going through the Anusfield revolving door? Kind of proves my point when you THINK about it. In fact, when you THINK about it, lame brain, everything that you have written is in complete agreement with my own assessment of the Merseyshiter. But because your spleen is where your grey matter should be you can't see that. Capello and his predecessors have only ever considered Carragher as a squad player, cover for the more accomplished central defenders available to them. Carragher is, at best, a solid, dependable club stopper who if it wasn't for a rather fortunate accident of birth, would be shoring up the leaky defences of mid to lower Premier League sides. He is a triumph of brawn over brain, power over technique... ...who, when you THINK about it is a kind of RETARD's Steve Walsh...

Is he still in your U16's? Your squad don't look too hot on paper. But neither does Fulham's. Why do I smell another 'miracle on grass?'
Jordan Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 TBH I think it's ridiculous that Findley got called up to the 30-man and Adu didn't. Not that Adu is such a likely candidate to make the 23-man roster because his career's gone by the wayside, but it seems like he was doing a decent job playing with Johnson in Aris this season. Findley's been terrible for RSL this season. All things considered, I wouldn't be too displeased with this squad at this moment provided Pearce, Marshall, Klejstan, Beasley, Rogers, Ching and Findley are the seven that don't make the final cut. We'll see who impresses whom in camp and friendlies over the next few weeks, though. Why do I smell another 'miracle on grass?' Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy)
Fosse Fox Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 So 'Solitary Volley' Scholes has passed over a World Cup jolly. Now I wonder why? Some secret clause in his contract/gentleman's agreement about only turning out for 'Newton Heath (tee-hee!)?' But surely Fabio would know about such an arrangement? And so is he simply going through the motions just to let the fans of the most over rated, indecisive, slow motion ball dweller know that he is his thoughts? Or is it none of the above? How about 'I'm not flying 6,000 miles for QF shoot out agony when I can watch John Terry miss in hi-def down at my local' or something like that?

He retired to concentrate on prolonging his club career at the very top, which has happened. Nothing more to it. Unlike Carragher, when Scholes retired, he retired.
