Fosse Boys - Leicester City Ultras

"James Treadwell smuggled in a flare up his arse. It has to be true, I read it on Foxes Talk." was a phrase not heard on Radio Leicester.

Correct, what was heard on Radio Leicester was "I think they were a group of fans who were trying to bring flares and flags" and "they weren't allowed in with the flares but they were allowed in with this big flag". Nobody had made out that anybody specific was accused of trying to bring in flares, just denied that anybody in or around the ground had anything to do with flares as Stringer had suggested - even the stewards stated it was nonsense.

After that a long thread became even longer, where children and adults (who like to hang around children) managed to conduct themselves in a fashion that makes the Foxes Trust look competent.

One or two people may have let themselves down a little by becoming a bit riled with the baiting and the "banter" or bitching - which ever you prefer - but everybody is an individual and entitled to behave in their own way. I'd say what was most important was not how people behaved on here post-match, but how people behaved actually around others in the flesh and interacted with other fans and the relevant authorities on the day - largely exemplary by all accounts.

All in all, a good result for no one.

I'd suggest that actually it was first and foremost a good result for everybody who has put their time and effort into helping this to get off the ground; everybody involved on Saturday had a great time in the first half and can't wait for the next game. Secondly, your darling Kevin got a good result, as we sat alot more than he may have thought we would in the first half, and gave him an entirely seated second half with next to no noise. This in turn meant the stewards got a great deal seeing as they didn't have much work to do and were not made to deal with any bother whatsoever. Oh, and the other fans inside the ground got their good result as when everyone sat down in the second half, they got to hear the game the way they enjoy it whilst also wondering where the atmosphere created in that corner had disappeared to; well, certainly the ones in that corner, anyway. The only people not getting a "good" result were the Leicester City players, having narrowly lost a home game, albeit to Premier League opposition in a pre-season friendly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

And FYI, if you've got a specific problem with a specific person, make yourself in your official capacity known and air your grievance, don't hide behind your anonymity and keep sniping like a pre-teen schoolgirl spurned by her crush. James Treadwell, as you put it, wouldn't smuggle anything, flares or otherwise, especially up his arse. It's a lifestyle choice.

Hope that helps x

Like James has said above, I think it's important that there's only one voice from now on that can convey the 'official party-line.' Perhaps discussion on the Fosse Boys forum before answering the critics is what is required. After all, there are some eloquent members of the FBs. One's who could have limited the last 20 pages to 20 posts of (mostly) praise.

I think some of the posts over the course of the thread have been harsh on ARAB, after all he's a football fan first and a 'spokesperson' second. I think he's been happy to listen to all quarters and has took a lot on board. The second half of the Sunderland game proves that the group has matured and are willing to toe the line when needed, particularly now during sensitive climes.

There's no doubt there have been a few mistakes in here (from a range of members) that have been exacerbated by certain posters, but as the thread has progressed I think ARAB really has dealt with the opposers better and more succinctly. There is only so much he can say before he repeats himself into tedium.

From what I saw of your group, the vast majority were pretty young - you need to make sure your 'representative' is one of the older ones of the group - someone with a bit of life experience who knows how to handle club officials, the media and even posters on a forum.

Im not reading all the previous posts (sounds like its got a bit petty) but just wanted to say I thought the group was fantastic during the first half on Satdee and I for one loved having them there in fine voice & behaving perfectly well.

The atmosphere was shite in comparison ,2nd half. Well done to all concerned and I hope youll be allowed to do it again.

Personally I feel overall it is clear that the majority of posters on here agree with the Fosse Boys idea and realise that certain people who, in my opinion are very intelligent, submit posts that make them appear against the group and confrontational/ dismissive. They keep plugging away with certain comments slightly altering their wording and approach till they push the button that makes individuals react. We are all human and our emotions get the better of us, indeed I am sure certain things could lead me to such an emotional response.

I am also sure that those that view this thread without making any posts will logically be made up of a majority who support our cause.

On the point of a single spokesperson I believe the current situation is fine as most people have already identified the key 'spokes people' in the group who are hopefully supported by the rest of us in the group.

We will never stop people who have a certain mindset making posts that challenge the group so I say embrace them, they keep the thread going and provide us with the chance to show how as a collective we are growing stronger. If we have a single spokesperson they will merely change their tactics to suit or use it as an excuse for 'I told you so'

You could argue that most people may stop reading this thread if it bacame a string of endless congratulations and well dones between like minded people. This last comment is for those intelligent posters who strive to cause reaction and debate and I believe some of you do it for good reasons as well as bad. I also think I know the type of response I will get from you.

I totally agree.

The reason ARAB has been the most vocal is because he has been, in my view, the most involved and the most passionate about making this work. He's taken the most flack because of this, unfairly in my opinion, from posters who have been on a wind-up and have made their disagreement with the group clear. If that disagreement was phrased in a constructive fashion rather than a mickey-taking one, the 'confrontational' posts by more than one member of the Fosse Boys would never have materialised.

It's very easy to forget that some of the Fosse Boys critics haven't exactly conducted themselves in the best manner either.

My Favourite part of yesterday was when a proper old chap with a walking stick and his missus came up to us at the end and said how we were a credit to the football club and to keep going. Even the stewards said we shouldn't give up yet.

The main problem with having a spokesperson is that, yes we can get the views of the group across in one post, but we still can't stop membrs of the group (And even people who aren't interested in the group) coming on and posting something for Mawsley to get his nickers in a twist about.

Anyway, apparently we are all in the merc today!

yes that was amazing, I was talking to the bald headed security guard at the time, when that old chap grabbed my arm I thought oh no he's going to go off on one :crylaugh:

and the young girl who said to not give up was quite tidy I thought

ARAB has worked hard on this, this is his passion. At least be constructive guys, pwease, for me *bats eyelids*

I've been reading this thread since it started and i've been hoping that it would take off because it's exactly what we need at the club, I think I speak for most when I say i'm sick of what our fans reputation has become and sick of people coming to our ground and referring to it as a library or whatever.

I can't quite believe how many people have been having a go at them for what they are trying to do. They are trying to make the atmosphere better, that can only be a good thing, just ****ing get behind them.

So yeah I agree with the majority of people in the thread that it is fantastic what you're doing and you should keep going, well done chaps.

Any fans/members who try and add positively to the atmosphere to The Walkers should be credited.

As long as it has a good ethos and the right principles it should be encouraged.

You'll bound to have your doubters but keep it up and im sure it'll be a success.

Look forward to witnessing it at the first home game.

Good luck and well done to all involved who made the effort.....

Dont give up and keep the positive attitude because football is entertainment and what you guys are is entertainment and it makes me feel sad that people were moaning at them for no reason other than creating an atmosphere which in my opinion made the first half even better (as well as the performance in it) so keep up the good work

A good place to start would be to make yourself known to the group, either on the main Facebook page or on our official website.

theres also a picture of the fosse boys in the mercury :scarf:

If it's the same one as on the website then i'm a big fan. Thought it would just be of us in the ground but someone snapped us on the way!

Is the picture on the Mercury website as well or only in the print version?

Two different ones, the one on the website is on the way to the ground, the one in the Merc is in the stand.
