davieG Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 What a bag of shite! Friendly or not there's no excuse for so many mis-placed, under hit passes.
BlueSi13 Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Yeah it's been an awful game to watch but like you say it's a friendly so would take this performance with a pinch of salt. Players don't want to get injured etc I think I'm going to turn over to the test match rather than watch the second half. More action to be seen at Lord's They said the same after our awful performances in the friendlies before the major tournaments under Sven's reign, promising that there would be improvement etc when the competition begins, then lo and behold we were just as bad during the actual tournaments.... As usual we have a very strong starting 11, but simply cannot play together. I sincerely hope i am proved wrong but at this point it looks like us being 4th favourites for the World Cup is looking a bit of a farce.... Although on a positive note, Japan haven't really threatened since the goal, hope we can turn this round second half.
purpleronnie Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Thats true, we will play better but the performances are rarely a huge improvement, which is a worry.
Samilktray Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Walcott is possibly the most frustrating player to watch, why doesnt he attack there full back more, hes got pace to fecking burn.
MikeyT Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Pretty awful first half really. So many mis-placed passes. Credit to the Japanese, they look alot hungrier for the win than we do.
sdb Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 so sloppy!! plenty of established players too, really below par. Is it my Leicester bias or can England just not function without Heskey?
BlueSi13 Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Pretty awful first half really. So many mis-placed passes. Credit to the Japanese, they look alot hungrier for the win than we do. Also remember that this is a Japanese team that has had a nightmare build up with long odds on them winning their first World Cup game outside of Japan. FFS England sort yourselves out
purpleronnie Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Have to say I'm swaying towards a heskey start, cant score but rooney looks lost without him.
Jordan Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Just wondering... if I'm not mistaken, Capello has been training England in high altitude over the last two weeks, right? They might be a little tired now but we'll see if this pays off a few weeks down the road.
shen Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 I find it odd that Defoe has not got more than one half during these two games...
Jordan Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Two own goals, Japan? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?! edit to add that if I were Fosse Fox, I'd believe that Heskey even being considered an option is strong evidence to back my claim that England are a useless side. Now, I'm not him, and I like Heskey, but really, he's not good enough for this level.
Samilktray Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Heskey How many other countries take a striker who cant score?!
dandannieldanok Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Heskey How many other countries take a striker who cant score?! It's a complete joke it really is.
BlueSi13 Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Heskey How many other countries take a striker who cant score?! He's there to bully defences and draw opposition players to him which free's space for Rooney, Gerrard etc
davieG Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Heskey How many other countries take a striker who cant score?! Seems we have a squad full.
BlueSi13 Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 So the final score is Japan 2-1 Japan bizarre. But judging by the performance against Mexico and now this, my nightmare of a last 16 exit to Ghana is looking much more realistic
Libertine Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Love how we try out different players... ... ............
C-man Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 So so so frustrating to watch. You can say what you like about it being a friendly blah blah blah but England just look so cumbersome on the ball. No one-touch passing, not much movement and a whole lot of sheepish players not willing to try something. Still, we won another game. 18 wins out of 24 for Fabio.
Corky Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 Well that wasn't pretty at all. It's good to win, but the performance left a lot to be desired, first half especially. Second half was a slight improvement. SWP was involved well and Hart looked solid again, not too much from the senior players really.
WardyisPukka Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 one thing that came out of that shocking performance is he has to take joe cole FACT!!
purpleronnie Posted 30 May 2010 Posted 30 May 2010 It's a complete joke it really is. Not really people keep on about his scoring record but he opens the game up for other players to score, bent was hopeless, I'd take heskey over him everyday you have to look at the bigger picture. one thing that came out of that shocking performance is he has to take joe cole FACT!! Definately.
