Liamlcfc1 Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 Just seen this http://www.walesonline.co.uk/cardiffonline/cardiff-football/2010/05/27/dave-jones-targets-big-name-star-for-cardiff-city-91466-26529800/ He tried to sign Steve Howard when the striker was at Derby County and is set to make a second bid. Howard is now playing for Leicester City and caused havoc in the Cardiff defence during the Championship play-offs semi-final second leg. what price would we get for him ?
Ozwin Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 It doesn't say he wants to sign him does it? Just says he did want to a while back. They've got Boothroyd anyway.

Ozwin Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 So it does Strange one that, they have the best target man in the division pretty much and yet they're after another.
Simo86 Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 So it does Strange one that, they have the best target man in the division pretty much and yet they're after another. That says to me that they want him as back up to Bothroyd or that they are ecpecting Bothroyd to move, probably to a lower placed/newly promoted prem side
whitlock Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 Personally can't see Howard wanting to move there at this time of his career, bar Hartlepool is has been based within the midlands-ish area with Luton Northampton, sheep and now us! I'm lead to believe he lives in Northampton so personally can't see him wanting to move to sheep land plus i don't want him to go, towards end of season he was on top form!
Liamlcfc1 Posted 27 May 2010 Author Posted 27 May 2010 I wouldnt want him to go but now Cardiff have the money if they gave us a good price for him we could use that for a better striker.
whitlock Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 I wouldnt want him to go but now Cardiff have the money if they gave us a good price for him we could use that for a better striker. Have i missed something, i thought they was ruined financially?
Liamlcfc1 Posted 27 May 2010 Author Posted 27 May 2010 someone has invested £6M and they want to buy prem players tells you in that link.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 27 May 2010 Author Posted 27 May 2010 Read he is worth £800M http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/cardiff_city/8706910.stm Milan is Skint to him
Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 If we sell big Steve it'll be a mistake we'll regret.
dandannieldanok Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 Hope we keep him another season, the guy has proven he can be a right pain the arse for some opposition defences in this league.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 Although I really dont want him to leave, I dont think he is worth barely anything due to his age. I doubt that a team like Cardiff would want him anyway.
teblin Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 I Would be disapointed to see him leave, but if we got 500k and then take into account he is on big money we could get a younger target man for less money but has to be an improvement or at least the potentil to be better
Corky Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 Keep him, he's shown in the last few games that he's played that he can still do a job for us.
Cheese Me Posted 27 May 2010 Posted 27 May 2010 Would not sell Steve Howard for anything. Nonsense rumour anyway
Koke Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 500k is rumoured. £500k for a 34 year old has-been is good money. I would snap their hands off. I love Howard but £500,000 for someone his age who will only be a squad player for us is very good business.
Ozwin Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 Only sell him if there's a viable oppertunity to get a target man elsewhere. No point risking having no plan B next season for 500k.
poopbutt Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 Only sell him if there's a viable oppertunity to get a target man elsewhere. No point risking having no plan B next season for 500k. yann kermitfrog
thenibbs Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 if this takeover rumor is true pearson will hav the money to buy a younger better target man but id still keep him for 1 more season and will be able to afford waghorn
STUHILL Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 I think Cardiff see him as a short-term signing that could give them the extra bit of fight and presence to get them in to the Premiership. I don't think he would start for them but could be very useful coming off the bench and adding a different dimension for them. I know Cardiff are in debt so this might be a realistic signing for them. I think it would be good business for us, as although he is bloody heroic for us, I'm not sure he could manage another full season playing each week, and I for one, would like to see a younger, fresher player come in, no disrespect to Super Steve!!
