Fosse Fox Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 James Johnson Dawson Terry A.ColeLennon Milner Barry J.ColeGerrardRooney That would be my first choice, however if Capello goes with this, he will play Lampard instead of Milner and probably SWP on the right and Lennon on the left or something strange to keep Joe Cole out the team. Also wouldn't surprise me to see Upson instead of Dawson. Hasn't the penny dropped yet? What has Capello got to do with anything?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 As long as Joe Cole plays on the left, ahead of Shaun Wright Phillips, and Gerrard, our best player, is played in his proper position, I think we'll scrape through.
Fosse Fox Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 he's our manager. Like Avram Grant was at Chelsea you mean? What was it now that Fergie Bung said about the fax machine at Stamford Bridge?
Matt Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 At the end of the day no matter what manager is in charge with these players I don't think we will win anything and i've always said that, I love the world cup and I love jumping on the England bandwagon during big competitions but gotta say we're not gonna win anything, I struggle to watch and enjoy England games. Also everyone saying 'The players don't look bothered' e.t.c, Do you not think they want to progress and have a stab at winning the world cup? It's like when Leicester had their little stumble towards the players of people said the players couldn't be bothered - Did people think they players didn't want a chance to play in the Premiership? At the end of the day we're just not good enough, Simple. No disrepect to Algeria but we don't deserve to progress if we can't beat them, and even if do progress how long till we get knocked out? Now C'mon England, prove me wrong.

Samilktray Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 The way I see it, we'll either lose 1-0, or absolutely explode on them and batter them. I'm hoping Heskey will be dropped, with Rooney on his own with Gerrard off him. J Cole on the left.
Ozwin Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 He should call Mike Bassett, he turned it round from a similar position. That is exactly what I said last night.
Guest Bilo Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 No. Slovenia look the best team in this group, even if they don't have the most illustrious players at this World Cup. The only cause for optimism is their capitulation to the USA in the second half, but we don't look anything like ruthless or hungry to capitalise on these weaknesses. Not optimistic at all. A draw seems the most likely and a defeat wouldn't be a surprise. I'd love to see England win the game and know we have the players to do it, but I just can't see it. Would like to be proved wrong though.
Tomassi Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 Winning 7 games out of 7 is tough at any level win 5 out of 5, and the cup is ours Team for wednesday James Johnson Upson Terry Cole.A Milner Gerrard Barry Cole.j Rooney Crouch If it isnt working, bring on Defoe, Lennon and SWP
purpleronnie Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 England to win 4-0 to meet Germany in the second round Might as well come home now then.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 We're on the BBC this time and we should wear the red shirt. At least we won't have to suffer the indignity of crap commentary followed by James Corden and Russell Brand to cheer us up. I nearly topped myself!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 James Johnson Terry Upson A.Cole Barry Lennon J.Cole Gerrard Heskey Rooney
Guest NGoloMode Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 James Johnson Terry Upson A.Cole Barry Lennon J.Cole Gerrard Heskey Rooney This is what I want the team to be. If Rooney is not playing well enough bring on Defoe. Same for Heskey and Crouch.
breadandcheese Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 Team I'd go for: James Johnson Dawson Terry A.Cole Barry Gerrard LampardW-Phillips ----------- J. ColeRooney Fluid enough to allow us to drop back to 4-5-1 or attack as 4-3-3. Barry sitting in front of the back four allowing Gerrard or Lampard to push forward and join the attack. Wright Phillips only playing to give some pace to the team, but it could just as easily be Lennon.
maddog Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 On paper should be a win, but what Slovenia lack in so called 'world class players' on paper, they make up for in passion, team spirit and commitment. Some of their football against USA in that first half was such high tempo, quick passing, attacking play. Very dangerous for us. IF we can win this, and it's a MASSIVE if, we can then start again in the knockout phase and hopefully peak at the right time. Never have i seen a worse England performance than last night in my life, but as long as you make it through the group, whether it be 3 easy wins or 2 awful draws and a win, it makes no difference. Get to the knockout phase and fook knows what may happen.
maddog Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 Time for a change, a big change.... James Johnson - Dawson - Terry - A ColeLennon - Milner - Barry - J ColeCrouch - Defoe Theres no way Capello will drop Lampard and Gerrard. One of them must go though. Carrick anyone, he's there.
Leicfox Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 Theres no way Capello will drop Lampard and Gerrard. One of them must go though. Carrick anyone, he's there. Barry did well enough yestarday imo to keep his place. Gerrard to play in the centre getting forward with Barry holding. Jole Cole out on the left, Wright-Phillips on the right, Rooney and Crouch up top. Lampard on the bench.
fatmando Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 Won't happen but I'd go with.... Green Johnson Carragher Terry A.Cole BarrySWP Lampard J.ColeCrouchRooney Yeah, I'd drop Gerrard. Why he hasn't used Crouch more so far is just beyond me... Crouch scores goals for England Capello.....FACT.
marbelladave Posted 19 June 2010 Posted 19 June 2010 Theres no way Capello will drop Lampard and Gerrard. One of them must go though. Carrick anyone, he's there. Why the hell not? When was the last time either of them put in a performance of merit in a game that really mattered? We know that when the chips are down they go missing, FFS get rid of these losers and give some one else a chance. Come on don Fabio, show us you have cojones!

Because he's not fcuking picking the team
marbelladave Posted 20 June 2010 Posted 20 June 2010 Because he's not fcuking picking the team A-ha, explains everything...
C-man Posted 20 June 2010 Posted 20 June 2010 Because he's not fcuking picking the team Who is then? The players? I doubt that since most were on record saying they wanted Green to continue. The FA? Not too unlikely. James Johnson - Dawson - Terry - Warnock J.Cole - Barry - Milner - A.Cole Gerrard - Rooney
The Doctor Posted 20 June 2010 Posted 20 June 2010 Because he's not fcuking picking the team do you honestly believe capello would have stuck aound this long if he wasn't actually in charge? If he didn't have control over the team he would have resigned by now.
