Good performance so far :englandsmile4wf:

But surely we must know that we need at least 1 more goal to guarantee top spot....

Really hope we don't sit back second half :chant:

Going much better so far, ball retention is far better and Slovenia are looking really quite poor. We're unlucky not to be more ahead to be honest and can see there being more goals in this if we keep this up.

Milner's been excellent.

Yes. More good crosses in the first 20 mins that we saw in the first two games.

We shoud be more than one up. Hope we score early in the second half or I am going to start getting nervous.

Milner's been excellent.

really?

up to the cross for the goal he lost possession every time he went forward, granted he was double teamed,

but he seems to have gained confidence from his assist and looks pretty dangerous now.

Just seen the highlights of the US match - they have absolutely no luck! Dempsey was never offside.

Don't applaud the fans then Wayne who have been undeservingly chanting your name the entire game!

Getting nervous without the second goal, we really need to kill these guys off...lets see what Joe Cole can do.... :chant:

fooking knew it, our seeming lack of desire to finish off Slovenia with a couple more goals have put us right into the arms of the much better performing Germany, pissed off.

Serves them bloody Slovenians right - negative attitude from the start, a few good chances all wasted. That's what you get for playing drab football.

Well done England and the U.S. - but what a nerve-racking end to this group!

sweet.

at times some sublime passing, on another day that would have been a walk over.

bit nervy towards the end, but a masterclass from milner and cole to kill off the excessive 3 minutes of overtime

So we're runners-up then. :-/

We'll be sweating on results tonight after some dreadful luck in not putting away more goals. Then again, that's the price of the first two games. Hopefully this is where we put our best stuff together.

lol lol USA win the group.

And to be fair, Alexei, I just don't think Slovenia had many opportunities to play that positively. I thought they did alright all things considered. While you won't get me admitting it very often (and I do feel the need to lace my comments with mockery at the fact England failed to win arguably the easiest group,) England played well, pressed well and give a lesser side no real space.

And still the Slovenes had enough opportunities to win the game. Just needed a bit of lethal finishing or more nous in the box. That said, the last ditch defending (while somewhat embarrassing that it was necessary) was excellent.

Unfair.

We had some dreadful luck in front of goal and on another day we'd have won by four or five. We'll see how much better Germany are tonight against a strong Ghanaian side, and we look much more confident than before. I thought Germany were pretty dire against Serbia and on that form, I'd fancy England to progress.

and now, norway women in the world cup qualifiers, before the battle to see who we play in the next round...

Well we've done just enough and scraped through. They've earned a little respect back after that performance, it wasn't bad at all. Defoe was decent first half, he had 3 good efforts on target.

I wanted Algeria to get through with us but the USA have worked hard and deserve their crack at the 2nd round.

Please let us avoid Germany, that will be very tough :fc: Ghana scare me aswell though. Tonight will be interesting, all four teams have it all to play for.

Pleased that we're through, much better than the previous two. Milner was excellent, Defoe in the right place, good finish, Terry and Upson made vital blocks, Ashley Cole again very impressive and David James very assured with his handling.

Needed a performance and got one, now to push on.
