Alexikokopops Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Another Swansea fan here (in peace of course), looking to offer Foxes fans a balanced view of Sousa. When he arrived last summer the QPR fans were giving us fairly mixed messages about him and I guess the same would go for most of us after a year. The positives we'll take away this year are that we were not expecting much and Martinez's departure last summer was expected to be turbulent for our club. Given the situation Sousa inherited, we were relieved not to be fighting for relegation this year. He quickly sorted us out from the back, made us well organised and hard to break down. No doubt there'll be seasons when we miss this. No problem with that - after a dodgy first few games it soon was clear we had a steady ship and weren't going down. No complaints at all with 7th place either - any issues we have with Sousa's reign are not due to unrealistic expectations. Few Swans fans expect us to be pushing for promotion and we don't have a 'big club' mentality where we feel we have a right to success. We've been right to the very brink in recent years and know we're punching at or above our weight. I think most Swans fans feel frustration at an opportunity wasted. I don't mean by missing out on the play offs - that was really no surprise with our form in the last couple of months. Just disappointed by the lack of ambition and creativity from Sousa. Although for outsiders it's easy to point to the loss of Scotland and Gomez, we still had bags of quality, especially in midfield, to really excite and cause problems for most sides in our division (Pratley, Britton, Dyer, Allen, Bodde who's been injured, admittedly). Yet while we've got no problems with the commitment and application of the players, the style Sousa adopted and rigidly stuck to clearly wasn't able to make the most of them. A season of all possession and zero penetration, with the frustration that Sousa appeared to see no problem with that. Team selections were generally unfathomable and changed every match, resulting in an unsettled side. Not one player improved for us over last season. And Sousa's buys, who seem mostly to be decent enough (except Lopez - you're welcome to him), failed to really show the form they've been capable of elsewhere. Though a year is a short time to make an impact on a side, Sousa seemed to have run out of ideas and enthusiasm for the job and I think most people at the club consider that he reached the end of the line in what he could offer - not many are especially sad to see him go as we were pessimistic rather than optimistic about our chances next year and are happy to have the chance to change things before they sour. Towards the end Sousa also lost the fans with his off the pitch behaviour - he clearly had thrown his toys out of the pram with the chairman (a local man, legend in the making) and showed a real lack of respect in how he handled the departures of Britton and Trundle, two of the players who have shown most commitment to the club in the last 10 years. There are certainly positives from his year though and I'm sure he's learned a lot, but Sousa has had little real impact for us and will be quickly forgotten. Both our fans and your fans will be taking the positives from the chance to change things around with a new manager, I'm sure. I hope it works - look forward to seeing you in the autumn. Cheers for that Whatever happens, at least we didn't end up with Dowie.
Corky Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Cheers for that Whatever happens, at least we didn't end up with Dowie. Should be the new club motto thing. We've had- "Keep the Faith", "We're In It Together", "One Team One Dream", now it should be "At least it wasn't Dowie".
Swansea Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Dont expect any Swansea players to join Sousa at Leicester as they all know what type of man he is. They all had big smiles on their faces when they heard the news in training on Monday. Enjoy the honeymoon period because it wont take you long to find out what type of person Paulo realy is. Bruno is a very good water bottle carrier tho (he doesnt do anything else)
Finchy Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Dont expect any Swansea players to join Sousa at Leicester as they all know what type of man he is. It's alright we'll keep getting Benfica players.

flanimal Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 If its already been posted Soz! Hope he didn't learn his tactics from Don Fabio.
Asherz Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 i love how everyone is critisizing paulo even before he has took charge of a game.... iirc alex ferguson went to man utd and he was regarded as a shite manager ... oh and looks what happened to man utd in that time... least give PS chance ffs. i dont expect us to become a man utd * would be lush though" but if your a leicester supporter you support the team who ever is in charge. imo with his distinguised career i feel he could have alot to offer the younger players that we are building a team around also martin o`neil.... who was he before he came to leicester exactly ?
Salieri Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 also martin o`neil.... who was he before he came to leicester exactly ? Who?

swanseajack85 Posted 9 July 2010 Posted 9 July 2010 i love how everyone is critisizing paulo even before he has took charge of a game.... iirc alex ferguson went to man utd and he was regarded as a shite manager ... no. no he wasn't. get your facts straight. moron. i guarantee you will get in to the playoffs this season, but you'll be bored. FACT.
Babylon Posted 9 July 2010 Posted 9 July 2010 i guarantee you will get in to the playoffs this season, but you'll be bored. FACT. We're Leicester fans, we're always bored and never happy anyway. Who knows what's going to happen, sometimes things work sometimes they don't. Look at Holloway, a complete disaster here, moves to Blackpool and the rest is history.
Daggers Posted 9 July 2010 Posted 9 July 2010 If Mandaric had not put his money into Leicester we probably would have gone bust. No-one else has been interested in investing in the club so why people are hostile to MM is ridiculous. Your first sentence contains two major flaws. Therefore your conclusion is shite.
Daggers Posted 9 July 2010 Posted 9 July 2010 Fvck I'm bored of Swansea fans - this place was so much better when the Green Army were being all bitter. Swansea do anger in such a fourth division way.
CKB Posted 9 July 2010 Posted 9 July 2010 i guarantee you will get in to the playoffs this season, but you'll be bored. FACT. Fine i'll take that!

Wymsey Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Think i should bring a book with me because by the replies from my Swansea fans they said they only attack for 10 mins a half
SwanMan Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Hi guys, Another Swansea fan here, my intentions are good and I wish you guys all the best for next season, Sousa also.
