Guest Bilo Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 5 players in and not a penny spent on transfer fees good job we're franck rolling in it
Leicfox Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 Not good enough for a 1st team place as of yet. He should get a run out in the cup though and one very much for the future.
Callabinho Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 Okai, Southend really rate him, app he is a neat and tidy player with a nice touch, neat footwork, pace, and an eye for a killer pass! Southend couldn't afford his wages so him and a player called O'Keefe went looking for other clubs. He did trail with Q.P.R and app impressed, maybe the signing of Taraabt put Warnock off?
Onion_Bag_Dave Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 Afternoon, Southend United fan here. I have seen a few comments on here mentioning, 'a free transfer from Southend he can't be that good can he?' a few of our players, Adam Barrett (Crystal Palace), Simon Francis (Charlton) , Alan McCormack (Charlton) and Steve Mildenhall (Millwall) have all gone to bigger clubs. The players we had last year I believe where good enough to get us promoted if they had a proper squad of 20 around them, this was not the case and with repeated appearances in court and money problems we where relegated (this looks to be sorted now, who knows though?) Franck Moussa is a good attacking CENTER MIDFIELDER, he was played on the wing a lot, but I believe his best position is in the middle. He plays a nice pass, has a good shot on him, has good work rate and is very composed on the ball. Obviously not every Southend fan will agree with me, but the majority will, like everything. he is a very creative player, and came through the ranks with us. I'm not sure if he is too much up for a battle, but definitely would add some creativity to any team. Remember he is still only young. He is good enough for Championship football, maybe not regularly but he will push for a place, no doubt in my mind. MOOOUUUUUUSSSSSEEE! Feed the Moose and he will score, Feed the Moose and he will score! Hope this helps. Onion_Bag_Dave Good luck for this season. EDIT - Oh and not only that, he smashed one in against Col U scum, when we won 1 - 0 a season or two ago. Here is a thread on our forum about him http://www.shrimperzone.com/vb/showthread.php?62681-Moussa-amp-O-Keefe

Good ball players with technical ability are the kind of players we appear to be going for, and he sounds as though as he has the potential to become just such a player. The only thing is that as a CM he will need to be patient as he has to compete with Wellens, King, Oakley and Moreno for a spot in that position. Still, a good prospect and I imagine he'll get the odd run-out in cup matches.
davieG Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 We sure could do with a proper reserve fixture list.
Finnegan Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 I hate to say this but I totally signed him on FM09.

Thanks for this Dave, let's hope goes on to do as well in the game as another highly rated young lad who I saw playing against us at Roots Hall (first game after McGhee went to Woves) called Chris Powell. I wonder what he's up to these days? I used to watch Southend quite a bit when I lived in Benfleet. You always seemed to produce talented players that went on to other places. All the best for the new season and I hope you can keep the club going in these tough times.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 Found him on Facebook lets all welcome him to the club http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=688587161&ref=search#!/profile.php?id=688587161&ref=ts
dave_the_fox Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 We sure could do with a proper reserve fixture list. Surely we can afford that now?
Guest shearfox Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 I always enjoy an highly rated lower league signing
dandannieldanok Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 I hate to say this but I totally signed him on FM09. Ah that's a relief, thought I was going to be the first one to make a football manager comment. I had him with Southend on FM10 and he was quality, snapped up by Forest after only half a season. Based on that, this guy has got to be a success, surely?
Flynny Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 This isn't snapping up a talented 17 year old on a hunch. 100 games for Southend suggests that the worst he can be is mediocre. Nice surprise signing this.
bald reynard Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 5 players in and not a penny spent on transfer fees good job we're franck rolling in it Didn't we pay £300k+ for Moreno ?

Nice surprise signing this. Agreed, didn't even realise he was without a club so it is a nice surprise. Hopefully he'll be in the squad tomorrow.
davieG Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 Didn't we pay £300k+ for Moreno ? You could well be right according to the OS it was an undisclosed fee. Your turn to correct me
teblin Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 I have seen him play a few times and have been quite impressed.
Lillehamring Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 The Arsenal of the Championship is what we are. Am I right in saying that Sousa hasn't signed an English player yet? Not a stat that will please all. we have plenty of british talent coming through the youth team, so fear not...
marbelladave Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 Didn't we pay £300k+ for Moreno ? Euros not pounds... As anyone knows, euros like pistachio ice cream do not count!
MikeyT Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 Didn't we pay £300k+ for Moreno ? I'm sure i read somewhere on here it was for £330,000.
davieG Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 I'm sure i read somewhere on here it was for £330,000. The OS says undisclosed. So any figure is just someone's guess work.
Corky Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 The OS says undisclosed. So any figure is just someone's guess work. £12 million is my guess. Anyway, good to see another player join.
Unabomber Posted 13 August 2010 Posted 13 August 2010 I'm sure i read somewhere on here it was for £330,000. Yeah it was this.
