Leicester City have signed midfielder Franck Moussa from Southend United on a free transfer. The former Belgian Under-18 and Under-19 international has joined City on a two year deal.

Moussa, 21, can play anywhere across the midfield and joins the Foxes after making nearly one hundred appearances for Southend. Moussa made his Southend debut aged sixteen, and has also spent a brief loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers in 2008.

Speaking exclusively to Foxes Player in his first interview since signing, Moussa says

"It is a great opportunity to join this football club, when I heard of the interest and spoke to the manager I was delighted to sign here."

Moussa was close to signing for Swansea City, when Paulo Sousa was in charge at the Liberty Stadium and he says he is looking forward to working with the former Portuguese international.

"As soon as I heard of the interest it was a no brainer, with this manager in charge this is a great opportunity to learn a lot and develop myself as a player."

Many of the City fans might not have seen a lot of Moussa, so what do they have to look forward to when the 21 year old makes his first team debut?

"I am a centre midfielder by trade, but I've played a bit out wide for Southend. I like to have the ball at my feet and I'm sure the manager wants to see a lot of free flowing football and I want to be part of that.

I like to get forward from midfield and if I can bring something positive to the game then I will."

Came from nowhere this one!

I'm not ashamed to say I know literally nothing about this lad. Anyone better informed?

But welcome to LCFC anyway.

Talk about low key.

Can't say I've ever seen the guy play, but it would seem he's pretty versatile, no bad thing.

There is a reason for that.

anyone having that Elvis feeling?

Hopefully he will be a confident player who will run with the ball. Will be nice to see him play.

Good luck to the lad.

Just seen this on official site as well. Suprised.

According to the source that we call wikipedia, he was on trial at QPR.

Hopefully he will get some playing time in the league cup and eventually the first but as Andy Croydz would say"one for the future".

Matt and Phube will be crying, all these foreigners in the Leicester team.

The Arsenal of the Championship is what we are. :D

Am I right in saying that Sousa hasn't signed an English player yet? Not a stat that will please all.

I'm pleased, after the amount of sorry excuses of english players unable to pass a ball we've had to endure over the years.

The Mouss, the mouss, the mouss is on fire. :trumpet:

Correct he hasn't.

Don't know much about this chap at all, a free transfer from Southend doesn't sound too promising but at least he isn't a 36 year old ex-Premier League player looking for a final paycheck, he'll have something to prove.

He was on trial at QPR I think, so I reckon he was always going to get a move to a championship club this summer. Hopefully he will add a lot of energy across the midfield.

Not always a bad thing signing players from the lower leagues, Morrison being a perfect example of this. At his age he's only going to get better and as you say, better him than an ageing ex-Premier League midfielder whose legs went while we were last in the Premiership.
