Guest Bilo Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Bundesliga began tonight with Bayern Munich beating Steve McClaren's Wolfsburg 2-1 with a last minute goal from Schweinsteiger. The rest of Bundesliga plays tomorrow and Sunday. La Liga and Serie A start next weekend. For St Pauli lovers, they start with a fairly winnable game at Freiburg who struggled for goals badly last season. Saturday, 21 August 2010 Borussia M'gladbach v Nuremberg, 14:30 Cologne v FC Kaiserslautern, 14:30 Hannover 96 v Eintracht Frankfurt, 14:30 SC Freiburg v St Pauli, 14:30 TSG Hoffenheim v Werder Bremen, 14:30 Hamburg v Schalke 04, 17:30 Sunday, 22 August 2010 Mainz v VfB Stuttgart, 14:30 Borussia Dortmund v Bayer Leverkusen, 16:30
Frost Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Watched parts of Bayern vs Wolfsburg tonight. Found it quite boring but Muller & Kroos looked good. Looking foward to tomorrows matches Will be keen to see Freiburg vs Pauli.
C-man Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Omg Thomas What a goal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TorMMafMy0k PS. Chelsea Dagger, still?
lildave3 Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Was just on my way to bringing back the European Leagues thread! Fenerbahce opened their new season with a 4-0 win over Antalyaspor. Semih bagged two, but will no doubt be pushed back to the bench to make way for Mamadou pissing Niang soon enough.
Fosse Boy Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Omg Thomas What a goal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TorMMafMy0k PS. Chelsea Dagger, still? STRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKERRRR!!!!!!! September 18th. Pauli v Scum. Cannot wait. Wonder if the Counting House would fancy putting a moody stream up on the big screen...
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Dortmund are the only German team worth bothering about. Spine of the team is so strong, and Lewandowski and Barrios will be a leathal partnership.
Finnegan Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Dortmund are the only German team worth bothering about. Spine of the team is so strong, and Lewandowski and Barrios will be a leathal partnership. I love me a bit of Dortmund, always have (come on - when you're a kid - obnoxious, bright yellow shirts? Yes please.) Also not shy of professing my adoration for Robert Lewandowski, FM09 king. But it's all about Sankt Pauli this season. I don't care how much of a trendy that makes me.
Frost Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Freiburg 1-3 St Pauli. 3 in the last 10 minutes won it for Pauli. Good start.

I'd absolutely love Sankt Pauli to stay up with something to spare. Cracking start today.
Guest Bilo Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 4-0 win for Barcelona in the Super Cup tonight. A record 9th trophy. I can see their dominance of Spanish football continuing myself.

Guest Bilo Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 If anyone can break Barca's stranglehold on Spanish football, it's Mourinho. I think he'll need to spend a bit more wedge and a season or more to do it though. There's also the mentality of the teams he puts together. The only way he could get past them in the Champions League with Inter was by playing a 9-0-1 formation and the Real fans are famously particular about the type of football they play. Don't forget Capello was sacked just after winning La Liga for playing boring football. Still, the duopoly will be interesting again with the sheer quality of the two teamns involved.

Mourinho does not play boring football, it's one of the biggest myths in the game. His teams score goals, but they're main priority is being organised defensively. Basically my dream coach.
Finnegan Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 Fact: The only team in the history of football to be able to beat someone six-nil boringly are Chelsea.
Fosse Boy Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 Freiburg 1-3 St Pauli. 3 in the last 10 minutes won it for Pauli. Good start. Brightened up my day when I heard that result.

I take it you missed out of the "joys" of watching Inter's performance at Camp Nou last season? In big games, Jose has shown that he's little more than George Graham with some hair and dress sense. It'll be a crime against football if Real pip Barca to either La Liga or the Champions League this year.
AjcW Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 Looking forward to Serie A and La Liga next week. I can see La Liga being won by a point or even on head to head this season, as much as im obviously wanting Barca to win it im looking forward to witnessing the jose factor at Madrid. Serie A will be interesting this season, can see Inter missing out this year, couldn't say who will take it though, possibly a renaissance for Juve?

Samilktray Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 I too hope Real win La Liga, or Valencia would be nice too.
LCFC-ARAB Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 Borussia Dortmund lost their forst game of the season at home to Bayer Leverkusen 2 nil today Tough first game though
Stadt Posted 23 August 2010 Posted 23 August 2010 I think villareal will finish higher than valencia this season with Athletico finishing better as well
C-man Posted 27 August 2010 Posted 27 August 2010 Kaiserslautern top of the Bundesliga. Beat Bayern 2-0 at home this evening. Bodes well for another extremely competitive season. Want another 2008/9 type term where 6 teams still had a chance with two weeks left!
