Foxes fans' loud support for the noisy Fosse Boys

1749461-vlarge.jpgBy Peter Warzynski

Foxes fans have backed a group of supporters who fell foul of the club when they tried to boost the atmosphere at the Walkers Stadium.

The Fosse Boys, a group of about 50 fans, sang, chanted, waved flags and paraded banners from a section of the Kop at Leicester City's first home game of the season against Middlesbrough.

But they may have to tone down their support, or face being banned from the ground.

Hundreds of Leicester City fans have now shown their support for the group.

1x1.GIFThe club said health and safety regulations meant they must sit down during matches.

Officials also said spectators had complained about their vocal antics.

However, a club spokesman yesterday said they have no objections to the 50-strong group making a noise, as long as they are sitting down.

But Fosse Boys member Dominic Manning said: "We think their controlling of spectator enjoyment is overzealous.

"They are creating problems where they don't exist. Part of supporting your club sometimes involves getting out of your seat.

"We consider our support to be conducted in a sensible and positive manner."

More than 20 people left messages on the Mercury's website yesterday backing the band of diehard fans.

Steve, of Blaby, said: "Unbelievable. The graveyard that is the Walkers Stadium on match days needs this initiative as the club have not done anything themselves."

Rick, of Nottingham, said: "I'm a Forest fan but I'm fully behind the Fosse Boys. A loud and vibrant atmosphere is best for both sets of fans and best for the game in general."

Despite the strong backing from other supporters, some spectators say their enjoyment of the game should not be marred by other fans.

Colin, of Leicester, said: "I reserve the right to do exactly what I want in my seat, so long as it doesn't spoil the enjoyment of others.

"If that means sitting quietly concentrating on the game, no-one has the right to criticise me." A Facebook group called Support the Fosse Boys has been set up to rally fans.

The page has more than 200 members, who say they will not be subdued by the club.

Supporter Gareth Jamie Lloyd wrote: "I think it is disgusting the club are trying to ban them. I implore people to move over to them on Saturday to join in with them."

Leicester City Football Club failed to provide a statement in time for going to press.

'Barclay is a t*sser,

He really is tw*t,

When he sits next to his happy clappers,

He really does look fat.

He told the Fosse Boys sit down,

If not they'll all get banned,

But he forgot about the t'internet

Now he is getting panned!'

I think this guy has missed the point. However his first comment is EXTREMELY relevant to the fosse boys and anybody else wanting to sing for the whole 90 minutes!!

Cant fooking wait for todays game, hopefully today is a big turning point as far as the atmosphere at the walkers goes!! :scarf::trumpet::scarf::trumpet:

i dnt think they were being rowdy mate i think its more support to be honest and i think we do need support like them and i fully respect what they are trying to do and also there only given as much passion as you, we are all the same for passion of our club, how were they being thugish and loud mouthed i think its called singing and supporting the club we have loved since we were born! i dont no what you do on matchdays but can you rethink your ideas about this excellent group i think its excatly what we need for the atmosphere and overall the 11 we are there to watch with our hard earned money! :scarf: up the foxes till i die! and by the way i understand fully that it is the rules not to stand at football, if sitting is your cup of tea please everyone get behind the fosse boys tommorrow and the lads for the whole 90 mins! doubt any of you will listen to me but hey ho!

Oh right so the club has asked them to move or get banned for what reason then? Don't talk utter rubbish, emails were obviously sent in by the people who were sitting near them and were upset by there behaviour. There is nothing worse than to pay for a (((SEAT)) (They are used for sitting down on BTW) and having a bunch of prats in front of you jumping up and down all the bloody game spoiling your view and also have to put up with there swearing and loutish behaviour, I am not interested in the few thugs who masquerade as supporter or there views on here. I am a punter who has supported Leicester City Football Club for over 40 years, there may be "A few genuine supporters" among the Dross of the so called Fosse Boys, but let me tell you now, they are few and far between.

There can only be bad come out of this (((THATS WHY THE CLUB HAVE ACTED!! WELL DONE LCFC)

Its no different from Butlins putting a ban on large groups of teenagers booking at there holiday camps, they you may know, also started making fools of themselves, and the management of Butins stood it for a while, But there behaviour got worse and worse ( Some of which I witnessed and complained about, disgusting stuff in front of my children, but that's another story)

In short The families, were being driven out by violent, obscene loutish behaviour, Butlins could see what was happening and put restrictions on "Young groups" booking at there holiday camps, now thankfully because of there actions, the crap have been booted out and its once again a great place to take your family in safety.

I don't want (MY) football club to become a no go area for families.

Large groups of immature youths under the banner of Fosse boys spell Trouble with a capital "T".

Come down as individuals by all means, but large organised groups at Leicester City WILL end up causing trouble (((MORE TROUBLE THAN THEY ARE WORTH)))

If you had any idea what you were talking about I'd be offended but you obviously don't by the comment made above, I think almost every part of that sentence is completely untrue :frusty:

And to be quite frank as a 40 year old myself I'm surprised that somebody of considerable life experience would make such a foolish statement :dunno:

you do realise that they were grouped away on their own at the back of the east corner of the kop and weren't in the way of anyone. Also they weren't swearing or acting loutish (from what i could see and hear about 5-10 rows in front.

Seriously Ibbosuk, you're wrong mate. I don't know if you're just a deliberate wind-up merchant, but you're coming across as a complete tosser.

Good luck today boys, let's hope for a massive swell of support for you.

Barely worth a reply but, go and sit in the family stand then!! It's sold by the club seemingly as a perfect place for you to sit.

You've obviously made your opinions of the fosse boys from what you have read as well and it's a disgrace that you've labelled us as violent louts.

Get a grip mate - can't stand people who will find anything to moan at!! I completely respect people get enjoyment out of games differently, you need to realise that as well. Some want to, after forking out £450 on a ST, have a laugh, sing their hearts out and spur our team on to win!

Enjoy the Stringers commentary.

Ibbosuk you have displayed more loutish behaviour in your post than any of the group have. Hopefully you will not act in this tone and manner at a match because if you do I will be asking one ofthe stewards to speak to you. Your post certainly displays the very behaviour you say you dislike I for one do not wish to sit in a stadium with people who display such a confrontational attitude as you post did, I am confident the club would ask you to leave ahead of anyone standing if your forum behaviour was displayed at the stadium. Football has no place for people displaying that type of behaviour.

Posted

And another thing, its not YOUR football club it is OUR football club. And each and every single supporter in the stadium can support the team in any which way they fooking like.

Like previously posted, go sit in the family stand if you dont like any kind of atmosphere and hate to see others god forbid......ENJOYING themselves!!

I bet you have Grumpy Old Men on series link!

Come on Fosse Boys lets shut these nay-sayers up this evening!!!
