Andy King has vowed to win back his starting place in the Leicester City side and show manager Paulo Sousa what he is missing out on.

The City midfielder started the season superbly with a goal on the opening day at Crystal Palace, followed by his first international goal for Wales.

But he has found himself on the bench for the last two City games and he admits he has found it very frustrating.

To compound matters he has had goals ruled out against Middlesbrough and Reading at the Walkers Stadium, but he promised to double his efforts to win back his place.

"Obviously I am really disappointed about that but I am just going to have to address my own performance, keep plugging away and try to get my place back in the side," he said.

"I haven't spoken to the manager. I am just going to keep my head down, keep working hard.

I love playing here and I want to do that as much as I can.

"We played all right again on Saturday and created chances but the results haven't been going for us. But we are keeping going and, once the results turn, we can go on a run and get ourselves up to the top of the table."

King joined the Wales squad yesterday ahead of their European Championship qualifier in Montenegro on Friday, but he admits he would rather be pulling on a City shirt quickly after the defeat.

"I am looking forward to it because it is always nice, but it is just a shame that we haven't got a Leicester game straight away," he said.

"After a defeat you always want the next game to come quickly, to get that defeat out of your system, and put it right.

"But now I am just going to focus on Wales and try to get my team winning there.

"The game is on Friday evening. I will be back in training with everyone else next week. "Sometimes it is hard to miss training. As much as anything, it is the travelling that takes it out of you.

"But we all know the team shape and what we are trying to achieve. It won't be that I miss too much. It is only three or four days so I will be looking to slip back in."

City manager Sousa has said he will use the international break to bring his squad together and help integrate the new signings.

King said the new arrivals are settling in well at Belvoir Drive.

"They are getting stronger by the week and they are getting to know the boys now," he said.

"Obviously it is a big cultural change for them because we have signed a lot of overseas boys.

"They are just looking to get to know the boys better and that will show on the pitch. A lot of the lads speak English and football language is similar everywhere.

"They are good players so they know what people are saying anyway."

King would be my first name on the team sheet. Great young player and will surely still get better with age and maturity.

Can't understand why he hasn't started every game to be honest.

Agreed, I find that more mysterious than how they raised Stonehenge.

Thank-you to whoever posted this, ..you've made my morning so far!

Kings just gone up even more in my estimation too with his mature and level headed attitude

Our best player and has been since the last half of last season. He now stamps his mark on games and how Sousa can keep him on the bench is beyond me. It won't be for very long though, even Sousa isn't that ignorant.

He should have 3 league goals already this season and he looks like he's capable of scoring in every game he plays in. A nice brace in the internationals wouldn't go a miss either.

All the right words coming from him. Terrific to see that attitude.

It's not opportunism either. Kingy really is that sort of bloke. He had by far his worst game ever in a City shirt at Burnley but why Sousa dropped him instead of referring him to all the vital goals he'sscored, made and prevented over the last two seasons and telling him to just put it behind him I don't know. Cos some of our midfielders score once in months, play stacks of bad games and still get picked willingly enough.

Seems like a lovely bloke. Shows that he wants to be here. Good interview also. Do we have a song for him yet? :whistle:lol

This. Him and Hobbs 1st 2 names without question

Joke that he hasn't been playing anyway, the lad has come of age past few seasons was one of last seasons top performers and should be one of the first names on the sheet.

Can't understand why he's been on the bench recently, we have always played better with him in the team this season. Obviously not one of the players seeking a way out.

Couldn't agree more with all that has been said above. First name on the team sheet for me! Really impressed by the way he has conducted himself with this interview - showing a mature, level headed approach, and one that will surely/hopefully see him back in the starting XI permanently.

I find it incredible that he's not playing at the moment. Put him in a more advanced role and he'll produce, the lad is quality.

Could be a good move not playing King, will create much stiffer competition in the squad, and will make him come back stronger than ever determined to get his place in the team back.
