bigneville Posted 2 September 2010 Posted 2 September 2010 The key to selection for the Coventry game has got to be how are we going to get 3 points. From the potential Coventry line up, its going to be a absolutely massive midfield battle. One we need to win, so I am certain that we will expect to see 3 central midfielders. This will make us strong and hard to beat. To give us some kind of attacking element we will need to through some pace down both wings to entertain the thought of causing Coventry some problems. With both these points taken into consideration and attempting to use the same thoughts as PS, this is the team I would expect to see. GK - Weale RB - Lamey CB - Hobbs CB - Moreno LB - Berner CM - Wellens CM - Oakley CM - King LW - N'Guessan RW - Dyer CF - Waghorn I believe that PS will not make major changes as he still attempts to stamp his style on the squad. This combined with a flight back from Japan for Abe, meaning he won't be risked. I believe he knows that Howard isn't the long team solution, and he seriously doesn't rate Fryatt, meaning he will chuck his new signing into the line up as the main focal point of the attack. Now Lamey is fit, he is preferred to Neilson, and PS will be looking for a partnership at the centre half position, so I would expect to see Hobbs and Moreno again. I believe they will be given a couple more games together to try and form a relationship. Most other positions pretty much pick themselves, as i'm not convinced that Gallacher is rated high enough, and Moussa is still a little raw. This is obviously based on us not signing anyone before Coventry, but even then, I wouldn't expect the line up to change.

He's staying in leicester to acclimatise and get used to his new team mates.
bigneville Posted 3 September 2010 Posted 3 September 2010 Abe's not involved in any internationals this week. He's staying in leicester to acclimatise and get used to his new team mates. Oh right. I presumed he would be flying back to play for Japan!
ajthefox Posted 3 September 2010 Posted 3 September 2010 I think I would have to agree with bignevilles choice, it's probably not I would pick but I don't imagine Sousa changing too much. He clearly thinks Moreno could be a centre back, so I'd assume he'll stick by his decision, for the moment anyway. As Abe is "acclimatising", I think it would make sense to stick with said midfield 3, and then maybe bring Abe on late to ease him in a bit, hopefully when the game is already out of touch for Cov. I think there's a possibility Howard might start, or maybe even Howard and Waghorn starting with Dyer to make a 3 with howard in the middle.

It's what I believe PS will start with.

I think he'll play Gallagher rather than King as I believe he does rate him, the only reason he's not featured as much is because he's been unfit, which cannot be said for King who's not been1st choice and who's hardly come across a PS favourite player.

Do you honestly believe he rates Gallacher as well? Subbing him off at 55 minutes in the last game, doesn't inspire me with confidence.
davieG Posted 4 September 2010 Posted 4 September 2010 Do you honestly believe he rates Gallacher as well? Subbing him off at 55 minutes in the last game, doesn't inspire me with confidence. Yes That's because he's been injured and is still suffering a bit with cramp, he's behind the others in his fitness levels.
tomtom Posted 4 September 2010 Posted 4 September 2010 Personally i think we'll go with Weale (if fit) Lamey Hobbs Zayatte Berner Wellens Moreno King Waghorn Howard Dyer If we sign Zayatte ,as it appears we will he'll be the experianced partner for Hobbs that we've been missing since the departure of Brown It's probably to soon to start Yuki abe so maybe bring him on for the last 10 if possible and Fryatt coming on for Howard all being well
montyw93 Posted 4 September 2010 Posted 4 September 2010 If I had to pick the squad for today, with the players we have fit etc. Gk: Ikeme Rb: lamey Cb: Hobbs and Morrison Lb: Berner Lm: Dyer Cm: Wellens and Abe Rm: Gallagher Fw: Fryatt and Waghorn Howard come on second half for ever isn't playing as good out of Fryatt and Waghorn. Howard is more of a super sub now, he changed the game around at Palace, he got everybody motivated I went and he got the crowd, buzzing even more. Moreno is just uselss, he was at fault for both goals against Reading and just isn't proven at this level. Bring King on for Wellens in the 2nd half aswell, because King is only good when we are in the lead, if not then half the time I don't even know he's playing. Plus we have to beat Coventry or else Sousa is under enormous pressure.

MC Prussian Posted 4 September 2010 Posted 4 September 2010 Provided Weale is cleared to play, I'd love Sousa going for the following starting line-up: Weale Berner Hobbs Morrison Neilson N'Guessan King Wellens Dyer Fryatt Waghorn Subs: Logan, Lamey, Moreno, Abe, Moussa, Gallagher, Howard Having said that, I thoroughly expect Sousa to play Moreno as well as Oakley from the start once more...
