lcfc01 Posted 1 September 2010 Posted 1 September 2010 morrison needs to play in the back four instead of moreno.
Guest Bilo Posted 1 September 2010 Posted 1 September 2010 I'll be desperately disappointed if Waghorn doesn't start for this. He absolutely MUST be part of starting XI. His pace, work rate and strength are exactly what we've been crying out for and I can see him causing the Catbinners all kinds of problems. Also, King must start. Logan Neilson Hobbs Morrison BernerAbeDyer King GallagherFryatt Waghorn
Cat Burger Posted 1 September 2010 Posted 1 September 2010 I know not technically team news but thought it could go in this section anyway...feel free to delete if i'm wrong. From SSN website. Aidy Boothroyd is hoping Marlon King will be available to play in Coventry City's next game against Leicester City. King is looking for a new club following his release from prison and the striker is set to be reunited with Boothroyd at the Ricoh Arena. The pair worked together at Watford and Sky Blues boss Boothroyd is aiming to finalise a deal for the 30-year-old by the end of the week. "We didn't have to sign him before the window closed, but we hope to complete that by the end of the week," Boothroyd told the Coventry Evening Telegraph. Coventry's next match is at home to local rivals Leicester on Saturday 11th September and King is likely to be in contention for an immediate debut. When asked when King would be ready to play, Boothroyd replied: "For the next game! "He's kept himself in good shape and he would be available for the Leicester match." If he plays he WILL score. So will Kitson when we play Pompey. We LOVE letting debutants score. I'm with dandan, build a team around Floyd.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 1 September 2010 Posted 1 September 2010 It will be interesting - a whole week and a half for Sousa to work something out on the training ground. Up front is a lottery with Howard surprisingly fitting into the new style although he is now clearly starting to show signs of age. He was never the most mobile of players, but is struggling to get into the decent positions to be effective and you cannot ignore his lack of goals. Fryatt should be bashing on the door to get in and you would hope he puts his mind to it over the next few days in training. We've obviously shelled out for Waghorn who must figure somewhere and Crncic was Sousa's signing so you would think he sees something in him. In terms of other attacking players to support the main striker(s), Dyer must be a cert to start, Moussa impressed in cameos and we know that Gallagher has talent. King and Wellens could also potentially play in reasonably advanced midfield roles. Defensive midfield could also see King and/or Wellens fighting with Abe, Moreno and Oakley over potentially one or two positions depending on the formation that Paoulo chooses. Again, seeing who does well in training will probably be the answer as to who starts against Cov. I think we now have competition across the whole back line with Neilson and Lamey challenging for right back, Berner not impressing at left back and probably Kennedy thinking he has a chance there, and potentially two from Hobbs, Morrison, Moreno and Vitor to choose from (discounting Tunchev for the moment). Finally, if Weale is fit then I would expect him to be in ahead of Logan and Ikelme but with a new manager keen to shake things up then I think even that is not necessarily 100% guaranteed. All that's without considering the younger players like John and Schlupp who were involved in pre-season. Looked at it this way, we have the basis of a decent squad for this division and probably no worse than last season's play-off side. Overall, I reckon our strongest side (if all played to form/lived up to their hype) could be something like: Weale Lamey Hobbs Tunchev Berner Abe King Dyer Gallagher Waghorn Fryatt Subs: Logan/Ikelme, Morrison, Kennedy, Moreno, Wellens, Oakley, Howard

JmorsonLCFC Posted 1 September 2010 Posted 1 September 2010 We're second from bottom. The guy needs to start immediately. Totally agree, plus imagine him scoring a last minute winner against covscum
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 September 2010 Posted 1 September 2010 I think it would be nice that Waghorn makes his offical LCFC player debut at home, and not away. Just a thought What do you think? I think I have some read some silly comments on here in the last 5 years but this is defo top 5.
Fmfox Posted 1 September 2010 Posted 1 September 2010 Weale (Logan if needed) Lamey Morrison Hobbs Berner Abe Wellens Gallagher King Dyer Waghorn I know its more like NP last season but I am sure we would play it on the floor like this.

(which is now merged with this one)
JmorsonLCFC Posted 1 September 2010 Posted 1 September 2010 So why did you start a new topic 10 minutes later saying Waghorn shouldn't start. (which is now merged with this one) Yeah pretty pathetic. I think he realised he made the most retarded comment of the year!

Guest nathan. Posted 1 September 2010 Posted 1 September 2010 If Marlon King plays for cov next Saturday we have got to sing this... Russell Howard you legend that HAS to be sung
bettso Posted 1 September 2010 Posted 1 September 2010 I'd go for: - GK Ikeme RB Lamey RCB Morrisson LCB Hobbs © LB Berner DM Abe DM Moreno CM King ST Waghorn ST Dyer CF Howard Subs: - Logan, Nielson, Moussa, Fryatt, DNG, Kennedy, Wellens
Wymsey Posted 1 September 2010 Posted 1 September 2010 I'd go for: - GK Ikeme RB Lamey RCB Morrisson LCB Hobbs © LB Berner DM Abe DM Moreno CM King ST Waghorn ST Dyer CF Howard Subs: - Logan, Nielson, Moussa, Fryatt, DNG, Kennedy, Wellens I would prefer Robbie at right back instead of Lamey. I seen quite a lot of times that Lamey has been easily gone back by opposition's left midfielders but with Robbie at least he can try to tackle them and not just let them through like Lamey does so often. But still right back a major issue
