MC Prussian Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 Well, Vassell would be the only logical choice. I wonder whether he would fit in the system, he's too similar to Waghorn.
Fox You Forest Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 I think our strike force is good to be fair. We're at least one striker short, we have three (not including Crncic) one of which rarely scores.
padrico86 Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 Cue the OMG BRING DARIUZ VASELINE TO THE WALKERS, HE'LL SAVE OUR SEASON, HIM AND BIG STEVE UPFRONT WILL RIP DA CHAMPO DEFENCES IN TWO. .... haha could be yea id prefer owen tho.
Philbert Fox Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 I wish this Club would stop bringing in has beens, and look more to the long term future. We need whizkids with massive potential, theres plenty out there, we just need to get the scouts out there, we need players that are not only gonna get us back in the premiership, but keep us there and continuously improve the status of our club, bringing in players that are past their best is not the answer and I WISH people would get that into their fooking heads.
padrico86 Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 Thats rubbish, I don't believe that for one second. Either you or your mate are full of shit. I could see players he rates highly who arn't getting many games like Michael Owen joining, he'd score goals for fun in that league! I feel the area's we need to improve are in Defence and Midfield, I think our strike force is good to be fair. i got picture to prove he met him id upload it but nt gt a clue about how to do it he aint no bullsh***r cud b rubbish i agree

A CB and RW are also needed IMO
Guest Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 I'm convinced that sven will try and take Sol Campbell on loan. i actuaaly think it would be quite a good signing too.
Lillehamring Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 you could also argue that pearson's use of the loan market has contributed to our current situation. rather than developing our own players or buying in long term players, his heavy use of loans has left us with over the hill strugglers like oakley and howard, and inexperienced defenders like morrison and hobbs. loans can be brilliant but i feel that pearson used them to paper over a lot of cracks. i'm guessing sousa wasn't so interested because he was thinking about building a team long term
Ozwin Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 Vassel?! this isn't 2002 people. He wasn't even good then!

In those cases the loan market helped in a try before you buy sort of way.

In those cases the loan market helped in a try before you buy sort of way. hobbs for sure, waghorn, well, we'll have to wait and see. as i said, loans can be brilliant, but i think pearson (maybe by necessity) overdid it - especially when we had players like gradel waiting in the wings....
Blue Bob Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 Love Sven or not, one thing for sure is that the calibre of our signings is likely to improve! Players will want to come here to play for him. Some big names on the rumour mills as you would expect but we might just land one of them!!!

They're short sighted in this respect. They wouldn't pay his wages, which for a kid in the stiffs at arsenal wouldn't have been that much.
muzzy1981 Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 I agree Vassel is too similar in style to Waghorn and Fryatt and been out of match practice for too long. We need a higher quality Steve Howard, like Les Ferdinand was for us. Think we will have to pay money for that type of player, unless Sven has something up his Sleeve! Stevie H should still be an important squad player though, as he’s popular amongst the players.
Ric Flair Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Michael Johnson from Man City, i'd not be surprised to see this happen in the next few weeks.
Houdini Logic Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 If we buy Shittu or Zayatte (Possible?) or players like them available during this market, then hopefully the defence will be much stronger than yesterday's which was fairly shocking tbh. Shocking?! Despite continued pressure our defence rarely let their players inside our area - they defended superbly
mancunianfox Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Michael Johnson from Man City, i'd not be surprised to see this happen in the next few weeks. Why did you have to suggest this? I will be desperate for this now! Quality player and not unrealistic either.
Ric Flair Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Why did you have to suggest this? I will be desperate for this now! Quality player and not unrealistic either. Sven gave him his big break and was sheer quality that first half of the 2007/08 season. It's not happened for him in the last few seasons due to injury, but like Mark Davies he would be unreal at this level and if he's fit then he would change our whole team.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 A key reason for Pearson's success was how well he used the loan market - Stockwell, Gilbert, Davies, Cleverley etc. Who the fuck is Stockwell?!
Houdini Logic Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Who the fuck is Stockwell?! I think he means Stockdale, which in itself isn't the best example. Let's just pretend he said Fulop

I meant why did you have to go and suggest this to get my hopes up! I agree that he would be brilliant in this division. Easily good enough to play in the premiership, would be awesome if it happened.
