Matt Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 can you stop whinging about how arsenal have lots of foriegn players. The reason they have foreign players is because those players are technically better than anything the british isles has managed to produce. Besides anelka aside how many of them have caused wenger anywhere near the amount of problems cole and pennant did? Woah, where have I moaned in the post? I was simply stating fact.
Cat Burger Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 Two words you don't see near each other too often. Of course he didn't have to speak any English playing for Arsenal, It's a team full of foreigners, hardly any English players, mostly French (Think there may be a few more different nationality's nowadays but not long ago the team was mostly a French XI), I've often wondered what language Wenger gives his team talks in and wouldn't surprise me if it was French. He could probably communicate tactically, but after 6 years of living in England he couldn't have a conversation in the language. What an insular life he must have led. Weird I think. It's also strange that Wenger's accent has remained so strong and his vocabulary has kind of stagnated at a very good, but not exceptional level. He must only speak English for work as well.
Tilley Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 Did you see the team he used to play with at Arsenal? They were virtually the France starting eleven I know. Wenger's policy is that only English is allowed. He has always said it and most recently when they played Braga and he had a back four of Sagna - Koscielny - Squillaci - Clichy, they are all French but communicate in English.

Matt Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 I missed this post, basically what I was thinking. You must be moaning fucker to then
Tilley Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 You do have abit of an unhealthy obsession when it comes to Arsenal.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 You do have abit of an unhealthy obsession when it comes to Arsenal. If his Arsenal obsession is unhealthy, what does that make his MM Obsession? Must be verging on the psychotic.
The Doctor Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 You must be moaning fucker to then he's never really mentioned it before whereas you have I see Arsènal are signing yet more Frenchmen
Cat Burger Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 he's never really mentioned it before whereas you have Frig me, I wish I had time to go back and look through July's posts. I'm sure Matt's gutted.
The Doctor Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 pires pires pie though....... best name it like that, sounds a lot better than frog's legs and snail pie.
pazzini Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 not sure it would be a good signing the last season or so he has really looked him age
Joe. Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 Wenger said on Sky Sports the other day that he'd still be a reasonable signing for most Premier League clubs...
Christoph Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 All we need is Edgar Davids and we'll have a nice little 90's pepsi max advert coming into play
Thracian Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 I would prefer to have a 36 year old Robert Pires on the wing than Matt Oakley. There are better options out there than Pires I'm sure but he could teach the youngsters a thing or two in training and he'd still have something to offer in the Championship. We seem so desperate to sign a big name I'm surprised we don't just have a cardboard cut--out of George Best and save some money! With another cut-out of Cruyff on the left and a few more to make up the side I reckon they'd probably beat our current first team cos, even if we went 1-0 up, we'd still concede the initiative and somehow score an own goal with Bestie getting the winner from a rebound.
Corky Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 We do need a winger, the lack of a natural one was obvious yesterday.
Collier Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 Robert Pires - 'Nothing to offer.' Some fans confuse the fuck out of me sometimes. He's well past his prime but you don't lose technique, vision, touch etc. If he's a decent professional he'd have kept himself fit as well, however just because he's in his mid thirties it doesn't mean he'll be huffing after twenty minutes. Could most certainly give any team a boost at this level.
ajthefox Posted 17 October 2010 Posted 17 October 2010 He might not be lightning quick but neither are Oakley or Gallagher, and Pires is a much more technically gifted player than those two, so there is no doubt he would be an improvement on either of them on the wing. Don't see it happening though, the summer rumours were bollocks according to the man himself and I rekon these are two, it's just people are finding it more believeable because of Sven.
Petchy Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJAJqIKU7u4 In all fairness he isn't as slow a I thought he'd be at 36..

Ric Flair Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 He was playing in La Liga last season, there's no question he couldn't cut it at this level.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 His skill is above and beyond 95% of other players in the Championship. Those who say he's got nothing to offer dont know their arse from their elbow
Braunyfox Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 His skill is above and beyond 95% of other players in the Championship. Those who say he's got nothing to offer dont know their arse from their elbow At last someone speaking some sense on this forum.
Ric Flair Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 There aren't many 36 year old's who can play 30 league games at that age in possibly the best league in the world. Even Ryan Giggs isn't able to play that many games. If we somehow got Pires for a season or two then it would be obscene.
