Sven could raid homeland

From Sky Sports:

Skysports.com understands that Leicester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is ready to use his knowledge of his homeland to try and bolster his squad.

Eriksson has wasted little time in bringing in a number of new faces since taking charge at the Walkers Stadium.

Now it is believed that two Swedish forwards - John Guidetti and Deni Avdic - are on Eriksson's list of potential targets.

The 18-year-old Guidetti is currently with Eriksson's former club Manchester City.

And Eriksson was in charge of City when Guidetti was lured to Eastlands in 2008 from Brommapojkarna.

Guidetti has been promoted to City's first-team squad this season and he made his debut in their Carling Cup defeat at West Bromwich Albion.

A number of clubs are interested in taking the 18-year-old on loan, but so far City have rebuffed offers for his services.

But Eriksson is now on his trail, and having raided his former club to sign Greg Cunningham on loan, he also now has his eyes trained on Guidetti.

Another player on Eriksson's list is Elfsborg's Swedish international Avdic.

The 22-year-old was a target for the likes of Blackburn, West Brom and Schalke earlier this year, but Elfsborg rejected their bids.

Now Eriksson is considering a January move for Avdic, and with Leicester's Thai owners ready to back him in the transfer market he could very well persuade the striker to move to the Championship.

That Advic looks quality, 6, 3" so could be a better Stevie Howard.

People keep moaning about getting more strikers but perhaps thats what we need to get promotion, I know some fans find it hard to stomach, but Fryatt, Waghorn and Howard perhaps aren't the class we need to get promotion. Don't get me wrong I think Waggy will be awesome but needs time to develop.

Hope you have got your tinhat to hand.

Why - there is absolutely nothing wrong with that post.

If you took your head out your arse you'd realise that all of us want to strengthen the squad and are happy for additional players to come in.

The difference is I can have a conversation about that with 99% of people without them turning into a 3 year old and slagging every member of our team down to the ground.

Somebody mentioned Avdic a week or so ago, can't remember who it was though.

It was me.

good tall young target man with potential.

I mentioned it in the players we would lke to sign thread, i think it was.

I remember reading that comment as well. Think it might have been in a who should Sven sign thread or something along those lines.

might of been that thread....

Denni Avdić is a 22 year old swedish striker of Bosnian decent. he is 6ft 3 played 1 friendly for the swedish international team and scored 7 goals in 21 swedish U21 games.

Young. Talented, target man and would probably jump at the chance to play under Sven.

think blackburn were after him recently... probably cost about 2m.

cant supply a source.

swedish media says Sven want Guidetti and Guidetti would love to work with sven but Mancini doesn't want him to go on loan.

And why not? I suppose you said that about Sven becoming our new manager? :dunno:

the article in the op says that man city rejected loan bids for Guidetti in the summer so why would they now loan him out?

And premiership teams had bids rejected for avdic, and i'm pretty sure they can, and, paticuarly in schalke's case, probably did, offer more than we're capable of.

if they happen then great but i can't see it myself.

Considered Sweden's future strikerforce.

Avdic is in the up and running for the European Golden Shoe I believe. Tall, slow, typical targetman but a decent technique.

Guidetti came through the well respect Brommapojarka (sp) club. Personally don't know much about his game.

He was at Brøndby I remember, but never made it to the first team. I would be a bit sceptical about bringing in a player that wasn't even deemed good enough for the Danish league

Tbf. he was 17 years of age at the time and left because he went to be nearer his family.
