paddy Agyemang Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 this shows that leicester can sign anyone if we can get beckham, there really is a buzz around the walkers now just like when pearson was here and starting to love it
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 He might be right... I read too that he was a spurs fan as a kid.. From Wiki His parents were fanatical Manchester United supporters who would frequently travel to Old Trafford from London to attend the team's home matches. David inherited his parents' love of Manchester United, and his main sporting passion was football. He attended one of Bobby Charlton's football schools in Manchester and won the chance to take part in a training session at FC Barcelona, as part of a talent competition. He played for a local youth team called the Ridgeway Rovers – coached by his father, Stuart Underwood and Steve Kirby. Beckham was a Manchester United mascot for a match against West Ham United in 1986. Young Beckham had trials with his local club Leyton Orient, Norwich City and attended Tottenham Hotspur's school of excellence. Tottenham Hotspur was the first club he played for. During a two-year period in which Beckham played for Brimsdown Rovers' youth team, he was named Under-15 Player of the Year in 1990.[30] He also attended Bradenton Preparatory Academy, but signed schoolboy forms at Manchester United on his fourteenth birthday, and subsequently signed a Youth Training Scheme contract on 8 July 1991.
Nick Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 this shows that leicester can sign anyone if we can get beckham, there really is a buzz around the walkers now just like when pearson was here and starting to love it You are dreaming. If he came here, he would be effectively writing off any future aspirations of playing for England again. If he comes he has to go to the Prem. This wouldn't be a step down, it would end his career! Nonsense.

If he comes he has to go to the Prem. This wouldn't be a step down, it would end his career! Nonsense. But playing for bottom of the Table West Ham would be a career highlight! Doubt he would even get a start at Tottenham either. Think to yourself why would Beckham ever play for england unless as a somewhat marketing ploy? 35 years old and clearly not someone Capello likes, public pressure would have to play a part and imagine the exposure he would get with sven playing in the championship! Probably wont happen but would be an absolute media circus!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 this shows that leicester can sign anyone washed out hasbeen if we can get beckham, there really is a buzz around the walkers now just like when pearson was here and starting to love it Corrected (Actually, not entirely corrected - couldn't be bothered to pull you up on your punctuation.)
Christoph Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Washed up hasbeen? I bet he can still cross the ball, do good corners and better freekicks than anyone in our squad tbh
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Washed up hasbeen? I bet he can still cross the ball, do good corners and better freekicks than anyone in our squad tbh That I don't doubt. What I do doubt is his ability to chase down the ball and keep it. He's always been quite static and that's only increased with age.
broughtonblue Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Washed up hasbeen! I was hoping I had a couple more years left in me still, but if becks is a washed up hasbeen what's that make me? Better hang me boots up this minute
nickelbyfox Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 He showed a lot if intensity and I was pretty impressed with his work rate in the MLS play offs against Dallas! Granted the championship is a lot quicker.
Kitchandro Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 Washed up hasbeen? I bet he can still cross the ball, do good corners and better freekicks than anyone in our squad tbh There is more to football than Setpieces I wouldn't enjoy the circus around us if he came as well, it's one thing Sven being here but I don't want it to be the David Beckham Show, we still have a good chance of the play-offs and we should be concentrating on that.
hackneyfox Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 We don't do set pieces, if we did we'd be in the top 6. How many corners have we not scored from?
Kitchandro Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 We don't do set pieces, if we did we'd be in the top 6. How many corners have we not scored from? There was nothing wrong with Gallagher's delivery on Saturday. Wellens took a a free kick and King headed just over. We scored from 2 setpieces v Barnsley, one was disallowed. Problem is apart from King and Howard we don't have players who are a threat from set pieces. If you watch us at corners we always have a bunch of players standing in one place - but none at the near post and none coming in at the back post. They all stand in the middle where it's congested, instead of where the space is. Sorry but we can't just get Becks in because we can't score from corners. We need to be working on setpieces in training and practising making runs and getting in space. King is a threat to the opposition goal so much because he knows where the space is. He has a football brain and not everyone has that. It's not the delivery (unless Waghorn or Oakley are taking them) it's the players in the box that need to be better. Claiming that if we scored setpieces we'd be top 6 is ludicrous because we would have still conceded the shocking goals we did under Sousa. Beckham is not the difference between midtable and promotion.

Yes I hate the idea of all the publicity too. Like you say, it's bad enough with sven here. I hope we just stick to poor quality players so that everyone just leaves us alone. I don't care if we're non league as long as we don't get the dreaded column inches! And to think, we would have to put up with a DRASTIC INCREASE in the amount of PHOTOGRAPHERS around on matchdays too. It would be a nightmare. An absolute nightmare. No, we should never NEVER EVER sign any high profile players.

No, we should never NEVER EVER sign any high profile players. Don't be a disabled. Signing Beckham would not improve our chances of promotion, it would purely be about publicity. That would piss me off. It would bad for team morale. The players would feel it was all about Beckham and it would be an unwanted distraction. But sorry I forgot the most important thing is that we have the most photographers, not points, in the division.
hackneyfox Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 So you don't think that Beckham could cut it in this division? You don't think that Beckham being signed would enhance our chances of signing other quality players? That it would increase the crowds? And when you don't agree with people can you please leave out 'disabled' 'talking bollock' etc.

I don't think he would be better than what we've got. 9 years ago he was a great player but now he's even slower than he used to be. A team ethic is just as important as quality players and I think it would be harmed if Beckham came. And so what if it increased crowds slightly, it would only be increased by people who don't really care about Leicester so I don't really care. Prices would probably go up even more.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 The unnecessary sarcasm makes him a disabled.
Finnegan Posted 16 November 2010 Posted 16 November 2010 not being funny - but the chap was playing for AC Milan last year. I have to say I think this is bullshit and I don't think he'd ever want to come and play in the Championship. Moreover, I don't think he'd exactly piss the league. But to suggest he wouldn't have an impact if he came with the right attitude is ridiculous.

We're not on the front pages for the wrong reasons, we've had more air time and column inches in the paper but it hasn't done any harm to our form. Completely misread your post
xplicitmaterial Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 2 words David James why would beckham want to end his career by signing for a championship club. But id still love to see him here

FantasticMrFuchs Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 If Pires wouldn't come to Leicester and held off for a Premiership club, Why would Beckham come here and not West Ham? Common sense folks
Philbert Fox Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 Its not going to happen, he said after he left Manchester United in the summer of 2003, that he would never play for another English team again, he may come and train with the first team like he did Arsenal, but he won't sign a contract loan or permanent with another english club, he'd see it as betraying his beloved Manchester United.
Babylon Posted 17 November 2010 Posted 17 November 2010 Please just let the thread die... it isn't happening.
