LEICESTER

City will be looking to return to winning ways at the Walkers Stadium this weekend, after losing 2-0 to Swansea City in the league last Saturday, and then crashing out of the Carling Cup to West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.

The Foxes started brightly in midweek against their Premier League opponents but found themselves a goal down on 21 minutes when an unmarked Simon Cox received the ball in the area. The lively striker opened his account for the evening when had the time and presence of mind to intelligently chip the ball over Conrad Logan and into the net.

Despite some good spells of play against the Baggies, City went into the break a goal behind. But, on 53 minutes they got themselves level when Franck Moussa found Paul Gallagher out wide, whose well-struck cross was deflected into the back of the net by West Brom left-back, Nicky Shorey.

City were well in the game and pressed for a second before a huge slice of luck was handed to the away side. On 62 minutes a hopeful ball forward slipped through Conrad Logan's hands and into the path of Somen Tchoyi, who slotted home and handed the advantage to the visitors.

Steven Reid headed home from a corner on 79 minutes to extend West Brom's lead and things got worse for the Foxes when Simon Cox added a fourth and his second on 90 minutes, with a sublime 25 yard effort that left Logan with no chance.

Sven-Goran Eriksson will welcome back a number of cup-tied and injured players for the game against Preston. A win for the Foxes could see them move above their opponents and up to 17th in the npower Championship table.

PRESTON

Like the Foxes, Preston North End have experienced a slow start to the 2010/11 npower Championship campaign, picking up just 13 points from a possible 39.

In their last game, The Lilywhites came out on top in a 4-3 thriller against Crystal Palace. North End striker, Jon Parkin opened the scoring on 13 minutes, but that lead was short lived as Owen Garvan levelled for the visitors seven minutes later.

Parkin bagged his brace on 25 minutes when he latched onto a long ball from Paul Coutts and found Julian Speroni's bottom corner, leaving the Palace stopper with no chance.

North End stretched their advantage to two goals when Keith Treacy netted on 36 minutes and when former Fox, Callum Davidson hit the back of the net on 66 minutes, the game looked dead and buried.

The Eagles almost staged a dramatic comeback with Andy Dorman and James Vaughan both scoring late on, but Preston hung on for a hard-fought victory.

Preston will be looking to add to that victory and keep up their recent record at the Walkers Stadium after winning three of their last three visits.

Glad Oakley has been dropped. Got a really good balanced midfield there and if needed, bring DNG/Moussa on for a bit of pace!

He's not been dropped - he's injured! And has been playing fantastically under Sven by all accounts!!!

I really like the look of that - I just hope Abe and Wellens play well enough positionally in defensive midfield with decent distribution going forward.

This is the first home game in over a year that I've actively chosen not to go to. I think I'm a bit disillusioned by football at the minute, the merry go round that is Leicester City is sucking the life out of me.
