Last game I went to was hull with the missus, cost me 70 for the 2 of us in b1, plus 10 for bad food, expensive 2 hours out! If it was say 20 a ticket and not 35 I'd go a lot more

It already been said, ST price per match reasonable, match day ticket rip off. If there wasn't such a difference in prices though would anyone bother with a season ticket?

Completely agree there does have to be a big incentive and its beneficial to the club to have a guaranteed lump of cash just before and during the summer break.

I just think double is a bit harsh for those that do still get to as many games as possible, but end up paying over the course of the season the equivalent of a ST for half the games.

Just something like:

- 5 home games gets you 15% off the MP

- 10 home games gets you 30% off the MP

- 15 home games gets you 50% off the MP / or whatever the ST price per match equivalent is

- Anything above you just pay the ST price per match seat equivalent to the end of the season

EDIT: I'm using the £30 games more as an example, obviously it wouldn't be 50% for the £25 and lower games. Also, it's only really adult prices that stink.

The incentive is still there to get a ST, but people that don't get one and aren't just looking to see the "big games" aren't put off by the price.

As I said earlier, probably too technical to ask of a football club but as Maybes says, it only takes a half decent database to record those willing to give their name and how many they've bought for that season. They have all my details stored anyway for Birch's annoying phone calls and when I go into the ticket office, so they might as well use them.

Price is fair, I think my season ticket works out to about £13 a game, I've not been down for a year or two but when I went to see Nuneaton or Hinckley play last it was £10 to get in there, £3 extra to see Leicester, not much really.

Edit - Worked it out, It works out £16 a game for me, Still £6 extra, I'm willing to pay that.

Edit Edit - Might have worked out as £13 actually, I worked it out on the price now, but I bought on the early bird scheme so not sure, i'll settle with £13, makes it sound even better value.

I agree 100% when you have a season ticket its on £13 a game thats cheap, also i believe u16 are cheap and season tickets for u21 are about 180 for season ...... seem to find the only people who complain will be the ones wanting tickets to see the best games, also can i add the club keeps doing discount games ie west brom carling cup £10 for kop and £15 main stand yet we still only got 16,900 wheres everyone then or do you want it for free and still get top players on big money ??????????????????????????????

Costs me about a fiver when i go and watch Worcester play. I know they are Blue Square North but still....

Fairly cheap watching Norwich aswell, they do alot of deals like 'Under 18's for £5' or whatnot.

It's not so much as price of a ticket for me, it's more the atmosphere at the ground has been rubbish for years now. Maybe it's just the way the ground is? But when you can hear the players speaking when your as far away from them as possible there's got to be a problem. The noise just isn't good enough. You start shouting getting behind the team and there's parts of the ground where people look at you like you a mad man. A mate of mine got thrown out of the ground for 'shouting' and served with a 3 game ban! He's never been back since. He had been going down the city since the 70's.

We are still attracting more people than we ever could at Filbert Street and we've been at arguably or lowest ebb in recent times.

The cost of single matchday tickets are scandelous but while people still turn up and pay then nothing is going to happen, if attendances were around the 11-12000 mark in line with the volume of ST sales then they would have to rethink.

I have bought my first ever ST this year and it is really good value, because there is no way on this earth I am parting with £30 plus per game to watch the shite that has been served up by our own lot this season and that is before you look at the toss opposition like Hull, S****horpe and PNE.

Im glad this topic has been raised. My brother and I have got season tickets in the coperate section in the West stand/Keith Weller Lounge for the Preston game I wanted to take my 5 year son. We got quoted £30 for the privilage of him sitting with us!!

I had write an email to [email protected] to complain, which I quoted prices at Derby County and basically pleaded poverty because of the recession. There is just one price for all they told me. They eventully conceded and I got a ticket for £10 which I still think is too high for a 5 year old. I spoke with one of the head guys at the ticket office called Jim and he told me my email has been circulated to the powers that be and hopefully change will come.

Guys I suggest if your not happy about pricing complain to the email address above.

The single match day ticket prices are our fault, as supporters far too many have allowed below average players to settle in to an easy life over the last decade or so and we have paid them stupid wages for very little in return. Those peverse salaries have to be paid somehow and it is the poor shmucks that can't do season tickets that lose out. Had we actually hounded out most of the chuff that has represented us then the club would have been forced to bring in better players and we'd get value for money and they could justify current tarriffs.

No point blaming the club.

Of course it's better. However how do we know that 32,000 people would turn up if prices were £20? You'd need to attract a minimum of 28,000 paying £20 to get the same return as 20,000 paying £28. That's a heck of a gamble.

To counter your point slightly...

We've got approx 14k ST holders whose money the club have already got (or getting monthly), an average of 2k away fans and so, on average, 5,000 'casual' fans (based on 21,000 average attendance).

At £28 a ticket the club would earn £140,000 on these additional ticket sales. To generate that figure at £20 a ticket, it's 7,000 extra tickets - only 2k more than they're doing now.

Not as much of a gamble is it...

When you also consider that the average ticket price won't even be £28 - that's the top-whack ticket price and we'll sell a large proportion to U22, U18 and U12s - then the matchday earnings reduce further; thus the amount of extra tickets needed to equal what we earn now is even less than 2,000.

Phew!

I can't afford a season ticket but I would get one if I could, the price of them is fine by me.

In terms of matchday, the student tickets aren't too bad either, but the main thing is travel costs.

Getting the train from sheffield even with a railcard is about £14 return and that's what stops me from going more often than not.

seriously none of you can to do a direct debit which you can put over the whole season about £30 a month, if you go to 2 home games a month you're spending more then that and all you'd need is a £50 deposit upfront, or more if you could to cut the cost of the DB further.

If the cost of match tickets are too low then the benefits (of which there aren't that many) of having a ST less and it pisses off the STH's meaning they are less likely to renew which means the club get less money to budget for new signings

Posted

TBH I suppose its down to prioraties, As a season ticket holder for a decade I used to enjoy the benefits of cheaper tickets and as a young man never fully appreciated it. Now with a 8 month old daughter and wife/car/house a trip to the football tends to be an all day event rather than a regular occurance, if tickets were priced closer to 20 gold and 25 platinum i would probably go a bit more....

I know some would say £3 differrence isn't a lot for a 'platinum' fixture but sometimes, especially after having a ST for so long you do tend to feel a little ripped off...

Posted

No way would I pay more than £20 for a ticket. Especially with some of the crap that has been on show recently. I'm all for supporting your club etc but I can't afford to pay £25+ a ticket. By the time you have had a beer or two with the lads the whole experience just costs too much. And thats with the idea of having a beer outisde the ground. Costs even more inside.

It's not about affording (I'm guessing that was the missing word in the first line) just £30 a month for a Direct Debit.

For those with families it's a £60 - £100 a month DD.

For those that don't have kids and are fortunate enough to only have themselves to worry about financially then it's possible they can't commit to every home game (work, hobbies, interests away from LCFC etc.)

Every game you miss makes the average cost of your ticket go up.

You say if you go to two games a month then a ST will be cheaper. Of course it is; that's practically every game anyway!

I can probably do about 10 home games a season, and I'm sure there are many others in a similar position. A cost of a ST is going to make it at least £32 a game.

The cost of 10 individual tickets isn't much less.

That's the issue for the casual fan and that's why many are staying away more often than not.

I don't think that it's fair and reasonable to increase an u-18 ticket from £10 to £18 just because it''s Derby. LCFC doesn't deserve the support it gets.

One adult, one OAP and one u18 equals £74 (Kop). That, I'm afraid, is just too much.

Dunno how many "non-local" posters are replying, but my view is that I dont really mind the prices for a match ticket as when I consider that the flight from Aberdeen to Birmingham then train fare is what hits me. Six-eight quid either way on a ticket price will make diddly-squat to me.

I have a platinum plus membership this year which will make my match ticket £20 (assuming membership card is £20)........ which is fair.

For many far flung fans (even those say in London) the cost of the full day-out overshadows the couple of quid over-the-top ticket price.

I do still think the price is slightly on the high side, but STs and even platinum members get a pretty good deal. I think the Flexi-10 members deserve a bit better dea (£180 say instead of £200).

On the whole the club is acting like any other buisness where you have the option of a long-term contract V pay-as-you-go. non commital customers end up paying more if they try to match the usage of a longterm contracted customer. think mobile phones, ppv TV, cineworld unlimited, newspaper/mag subscription.

A lot of people work most saturdays so buying a season ticket just doesn't make sense. However, the outrageous ticket prices discourage irregular attendance and last minute decisions and those fans are being forced out. I've always tried to manage a minimum of one home match per month but the cost has now sadly gone above what I'm prepared to pay.

LCFC is in my blood and I'll be a fan 'til the end but my support will be in spirit only unless something is done.

I was going to go to the Derby and Forest games, checked prices for where we normally sit and £76/game for me + the missus, can't really justify that TBH...

Exactly.

Lets also not forget the fact that extra fans are more likely to buy food and stuff from the store.
