And, according to the Twitter post, Powell is happy at the club.

Didnt think he would leave us as Chrissy is loyal to us and will learn more from Sven then Alan Pardew, i think Bernard Parker would be a great signing

Chrissy P could be on his way to becoming a genuine legend at this club. Good to hear Parker scored.

Surely you should be more pleased that Fryatt scored?

Looks like a real test, according to Powell, with Sven and Faz watching. Sven probably met a few of Villas players, Dunne and Ireland.... Villa had Robert Pires, John Carew, Nigel Reo-Coker and Nathan Delfounuso also.

Maybe Villa want to offload a few?

Anyone know if the info on wikipedia about Parker potentially facing a 6month ban is correct? Surely we wouldn't be looking at him if that was the case. Would we?

In the premierleague ;)

Off the bench.

In probably the weakest Premier League there's been. And saying he's had 'minimal impact' would be an understatement.

He's not as good as has been made out, bagged a few goals when first played and the hype came with it. Failed to deliver since then. He'll probably be a very good player with time, but we've got players that are just as good, if not better. Premier League status doesn't automatically make a good player.

That league has it's fair share of pretty dismal players. Think the gap between the two divisions (excluding the very top teams) is the closest it has been for some time.

Exactly. He's a 2010 Danny Cadamatari

I seriously don't understand the wankfest around Delfounso (sp?), Every time I've seen him he's been gash.

Delfoneso looks to be a very quick, strong, direct and capable player to me (like many English player he is perhaps slightly lacking technically). I suspect its hard for him to jump straight into the Villa team and make a big impact when he's only 19 and doesn't get a consistent run of games. But in my huimble opinion a player with that pace, strength and pedigree has definitely got some potential. Martin O'Neill rated him very highly and that speaks volumes for me.

I suspect most people slating ND didn't think DJ Campbell was good enough for City and he's now a key player for a Premier League outfit.

It wasn't a case of not being good enough, he never fit into any managers system when he was here, his time was interrupted by injuries, and by the time Sousa came round, and it looked like we would be using him, he'd fallen in love with Blackpool.

I wanted him to go because he didn't want to be here. I think the majority of fans did. You won't find many saying he 'wasn't good enough for us' though.

DJ had an early disagreement with the club about treatment of an injury. Thereafter it never seemed like his heart was in playing for us. Yes, a fit, committed DJ was good enough. But no, he wasn't ever going to show it here.

I sometimes wonder if it was partly to do with personality. And the same with Gradel. We had such a boring approach to our football and tended to discount flair players and fill our team with boring footballers.

Soussa saw things differently but was always a stepping stone for the arrival of Sven who really does seem to know how football should be played and, perhaps more important, can cope with the many and varied characters he'll need to play it.

Campbell's 3 goals in 13 games as the central striker in a team hell-bent on all-out attack is hardly proof that he's a class act. Luke Varney's got 5 goals from the wing in that time, and he was pretty average in the Championship.

Sorry but DJ has played well for Blackpool and all their fans would back that up. He was central to their final push at the end of last season and has been central to their succes this season. Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up when you have got it wrong.

It just seemed so obvious to me that the guy could play - f we'd have got behind him we could have profited, but unfortunately the trend (as with a lot on here) often seems to be to see the worst in people.

To suggest that Delfoneso is "gash" is a prime example - sorry but i'll stick with Martin ON's opinion rather than a couple of negative half wits on here!
