sham Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 Meanwhile, Sven Goran Eriksson is keen to take a couple of other City reserves, Michael Johnson and Ben Mee, to Leicester. Johnson, 22, suffered a serious knee injury a year ago and only started playing again in October but he’s found himself pushed into the shadows by the glut of stars fighting for first-team recognition at Eastlands. Former City chief Eriksson will face competition from Leeds to sign the midfielder on loan. Centre-half Mee helped the club to the FA Youth Cup final a couple of years ago, but his first-team chances are slim. Neither player will be eligible to play when the sides meet in the FA Cup next week. Eriksson also hopes to clinch a £250,000 deal for Hibernian’s Ivory Coast centre-half Sol Bamba. Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 Concerned about his fitness, if he can sort that out and shed a few pounds there's no doubt he'd be a belting signing at this level. Actually don't think it'd be beyond the realms of possibility to make it permanent either. Would like to see us buying some players, though.
bjblyth Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 Are Sven and Mancini dating or something? Certainly seems that way doesn't it! They've probably got some deal, we can help ourselves to their youth team if we let them pass to the next round of the cup as deals like these are Man City's only way to silverware this season...

I would much prefer it if they gave us a Bellamy, Roque etc
bjblyth Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 I would much prefer it if they gave us a Bellamy, Roque etc Not much chance of that if we keep sending them back with broken bones though...!
MPH Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 seems like they have become our parent club true Football manager style.

Sparky Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 Was a top drawer player before his injury, talk of an England call and Arsenal were interested. If fitness is good then i'd welcome him here.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 Looks more & more like theres going to be more loanees than permanents again
foxeslad1985 Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 i hope he comes hes a brill player for this division
sdb Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 impossible to judge. so long since he's played. bad injuries, alcohol etc if i recall correctly? could be great, could be a disaster. Ireland isn't looking too sharp after leaving Man City, and he's not had half the problems (although he's made a couple up).

Stevosevic Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Leeds and Leicester are interested in taking midfielder Michael Johnson on loan from Manchester City following his recovery from long-term injury. (The Sun)
superfox1980 Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 No thanks. Hardly kicked a ball for a couple of years and can't see how he'd really improve our midfield right now.
Simmo86 Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 No thanks. Hardly kicked a ball for a couple of years and can't see how he'd really improve our midfield right now. Because if fit he's just as good if not better than any of our midfield. Its about have a good SQUAD!!! not just a decent first 11
Stevosevic Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Better than Oakley, and if he forces his way into the team on merit who are we to argue?
superfox1980 Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Because if fit he's just as good if not better than any of our midfield. Its about have a good SQUAD!!! not just a decent first 11 Fully aware its a squad game.....thanks. Still, the guy was a quality player two years ago no doubt about that. But with all his injuries is he the same player........probably not.

Simmo86 Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Even if he isn't as good as he was. Still good enough for us, we're a mid table Championship side who've got a serious lack of depth in centre midfield. Oakley first backup......no thanks
Toby or not Toby Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Would be a good signing if he can stay fit!
Greg2607 Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Just out of Interest, what is our squad size now? this isn't a question about "how many loanee's are we allowed".....dear god, i'm not dragging that one back up!!, but do we not need to comply with the sam 25 man squad that they do in the premier league? It seems as though we have an ever expanding squad of players, which given the quality of players coming in is not a bad thing, but how close are we to reaching a "limit" if indeed there is one? I would imagine the staff are working in the background to offload some of the dead wood and also some of those players who aren't going to make the grade, but it does seem to be slightly one way at the minute.....(and YES, I do realise about Matty Fryatt, Michael Morrison, et al, before I get shot down for that!!)
Lester LXXIV Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Most of the loanees have gone back to their clubs haven't they? Naughton and pos Yakubu are only 2 left?
