Trav Le Bleu Posted 26 January 2011 Share Posted 26 January 2011 Australian charts are sooooo different from ours. Not saying that's bad, but loads there wouldn't be in a similar UK chart.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 26 January 2011 Author Share Posted 26 January 2011 Australian charts are sooooo different from ours. Not saying that's bad, but loads there wouldn't be in a similar UK chart. It's a massive vote on a national radio station happens every year and they go thru and play 100 to 1 every year on Austrlaia day and people throw hottest 100 parties across the country. There is never going to be any Crappy pop in there as it's not that sort of radio station....thankfully.

Finnegan Posted 27 January 2011 Share Posted 27 January 2011 Ugh, we listen to Heart/Gem at work and their all time top 100 was disgraceful. The top twenty featured shit like Take That's The Flood, Cee Lo and Ellie Goulding killing Elton John. Disgusting.
Samilktray Posted 27 January 2011 Share Posted 27 January 2011 The Australians love a bit of the Gorillaz and KanYe.

The top twenty featured shit like Take That's The Flood, Cee Lo and Ellie Goulding killing Elton John. Disgusting. I am also subjected to this torture. Who are these people who can't remember songs more than a few weeks old? As I've said on here before, I once saw a stat that said the average UK adult owns 10 CDs, or something like that, think it might be 6, but that seems exceptionally low. In any case, I can believe stats like that when you get charts like Sosban mentioned. There's a hell of a lot of people around who just don't care what they listen to, and why buy albums when "excellent" radio stations like Heart and Gem are playing all the current hits (that's an anagram folks!) hairy Posted 27 January 2011 Share Posted 27 January 2011 Australian charts are sooooo different from ours. Not saying that's bad, but loads there wouldn't be in a similar UK chart. Its from a radio station called TripleJ its a national station funded by the state. It plays similar stuff to 6Music but is the most popular station over there (or was when I was there). They dont have single charts as higher profile as us and more rely on the albums. So you dont have 13 yr old kids and Simon Cowell and co running the music charts over there, hence the better music. I miss TripleJ. You can stream it over here but of course you listening to middle of the night radio when you do.
Finnegan Posted 27 January 2011 Share Posted 27 January 2011 Gem's line up is basically "this year's music" and "the same five eighties songs." That's it. I used to like St Elmo's Fire and Don't Stop Believing but if I hear them once more I might just brain someone. And don't get me started on Empire State of fucking Mind. Part Of The Crowd Posted 27 January 2011 Share Posted 27 January 2011 Surprised to see Parkway Drive in there. Edit - To some of those less likely to have heard of them, would you ever see something like this in the top 100 of any Radio station over here? Heart/Gem is ridiculously bad, they play Alicia Keys at least 8 times a day, and it's not even a good song. Thankfully I'm in control of the 'entertainment' in our department

MikeyT Posted 30 January 2011 Share Posted 30 January 2011 Haven't heard anything in the charts for about 6 years. Couldn't tell you now who three quarters of the "artists" are these days. Think i've only heard of a handful in the Australian list. I must be getting old, but for the most part, alot of stuff just sounds the same nowadays (to me).
