nickelbyfox Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Great move, comes across as a nice bloke, gets along with Sven and has some amazing pedigree!
bald reynard Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Has signed. Stringers twitter. It's confirmed on the MK Dons OS as well. Of course, there's nothing on the City site ! I think it's a good move on Sven's part. Didi (I think that's what he uses !) comes across as a likeable and knowledgeable chap - certainly when I've seen him as a 'pundit' on MoD. I don't know what his coaching qualifications are like - I assume he's been doing his 'badges' with MK Dons, but he's only been there 9 months (and retired from Man C less than 18 months ago), so can't have completed much - I guess he's in the process though. Still, he's got the background - and some pedigree. I wonder whether he's been lined up for Sven's 'succession' !

A number of players seem to be doing it nowadays. Jamie Carragher is the latest high profile one at the moment. Not sure if Didi's done the same or not.

Jamie Carragher is the latest high profile one at the moment. Not sure if Didi's done the same or not. It will be good, he knows both Faz and Sven from Manchester City. He has played in big teams and won Champions Leauge which is respect. He probably have good contacts and can vouche for us in some situations when we need to attract new players. He probably also could be a last resort backup for a central midfield postion if we should have reel bad lauck with injuries but i guess he's ineglible and wasn't brought here for those reason.
nickelbyfox Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Hamann Dons interview Interesting little read, has coaching ambitions, and found somewhere did his UEFA License A coaching badge. Really impressed yet again, as he must have a good variety of contacts too!
MrSpaM Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 I said this'd happen about a week after Powell left and everybody just ignored it! Just read someone mentioning Dietmar Hamann, current player coach at mk dons
Haydos Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 I said this'd happen about a week after Powell left and everybody just ignored it! Congrats?
Edmund Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 HAMANN HEADS FOR LEICESTERThe Club can today confirm that Dietmar Hamann has left his post as first team coach to take up a position with Leicester City. The former Germany international heads to the Walkers Stadium to join the Foxes coaching staff under manager Sven Göran Eriksson - Hamann's former coach at Manchester City. Everyone at MK Dons would like to place on record our thanks to Didi for his hard work both as a player and a coach during his eight months with the Club and wish him well in his emerging coaching career. After joining the Dons in May last year, Hamann made 13 appearances for the first team and played an important part in the positive start to the season made by Karl Robinson's side. Since taking up a more senior first team coaching role in October, the 2005 Champions League winner has taken a step back from playing duties to help harness the talents of some of the Club's younger players. His move to the Walkers Stadium sees him take up the position of first team coach with the Championship club.
Wymsey Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Not so sure about this as he may not know how tough and largely competitive this league is. But i think he'll be alright. Wish Powell didn't go to be fair.
blueredswed Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Didi was one of Svens favourite players in the middle. He was always calm and knowing what he do. Congratulations to Leicester for a good job As someone say he can still play if..... but he´s got the same tactic that Sven have (nice football to looking at) no longballs..... UP WE GOE WITH THE BLUE

Wish Powell didn't go to be fair. Why would you think that? Played in England for years and has currently been helping a league 1 team. I would have thought he knows plenty about the game in our country and how tough it is. Anyway isn't that the main strengths of the German game, strong discipline and mental toughness?
Fox1651 Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 I said this'd happen about a week after Powell left and everybody just ignored it! Lottery Ticket numbers please mr clairbloodyvoyant

Arkie Bennett Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 He'll be able to teach our players how to commit lots of niggly fouls without getting booked.
Marmite Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Will he be registered as a player just in case ?
Cropwellfox Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Depending on how long Svennis stays for I think we have hired our next manager today. Great appointment

Bugg Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Happy with this The Kaiser! That's Beckenbauer, not Hamann.
Captain... Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 The same Oakley who`s fantastic goal line clearance got us 3pts at Bramhall Lane ???? Yes, we only have one, it is also the same Oakley who has been shit for this club for the last 3 years, one swallow doesn't make a summer my friend.
Haydos Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Yes, we only have one, it is also the same Oakley who has been shit for this club for the last 3 years, one swallow doesn't make a summer my friend. Nice one. Literally all the time he's been here. He was particularly awful in the League 1 season wasn't he. disabled.
Fatbloke Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Yes, we only have one, it is also the same Oakley who has been shit for this club for the last 3 years, one swallow doesn't make a summer my friend. He has never been "shit" for us, in fact far from it, a brilliant pro with a great attitude, can`t remember him ever making a cock up (Abe at Ipswich) that has cost us a goal and is an ideal player to bring on when we need to calm things down and see out a slender advantage, not only that he`s a really nice bloke to have around the club, oh, and I am NOT your friend, and as the saying goes, if my wife would swallow it would make my summer :-)
