Adster Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Hello, I was just wondering if anyone knew if they were any places to eat near Pride Park/Derby Train Station, as I'm leaving quite early and me and my friends are planning on going somewhere to eat before the match. Places such as, say, a Pizza Hut, Frankies and Bennies, or a Wetherspoon, something a long the lines of that. Mods can remove this thread once I've found the information i need. Thanks.
Wymsey Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 There's a Harvester near the ground, only 5 min walk. Can't beat them on a match day Just to add, there is a Ben and Jerry's near the stadium, but its 1.1 miles from the ground. Don't know exactly where it is

Wymsey Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 You mean Frankie and Bennies? , a flatmate bought one of these a few mins before i posted that, and i put it in ............
Bert Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 There's a subway across the road from the ground I think.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 There is a supermarket (Sainsburys I think), I'll be going for a bite to eat in there.

jonthefox Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Its slap bang in the middle of a fosse parky type of place.
Syko Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 There is a KFC, Burger King, and McDonalds all on the other side of pride park from the train station but on the train station side there is harvester, a brewsters, and i think there is also an Old Orleans bar/grill as well, other than that you have to go into Derby itself and that isn't worth the trek.
JoeyB Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 next to the ground you got a frankie and bennies and a subway. 5 minute walk away you got a burger king, pizza hut, kfc in the other direction you got a harvester if you walk into the city centre about 15-20 mins walk you'll find more places to eat
foxoffderby Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Too many places around Pride Park Old Orleans Harvester Burger King Pizza Hut Greggs Starbucks Subway KFC Frankie & Bennys Innkeepers Fayre (brewsters) McDonalds Sainsburys Costco These are what I can remember at the top of my head there are more. Pride Park is amazing all within 5 mins of the ground. If you can't find a pub go to these places a few serve alcohol. Innkeepers Fayre on match days if full of DC fans and has security on the door, your ok if your not wearing away colours. Also there is plenty of matchday parking around the ground just get there quick.

foxoffderby Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Speak for yourself. Second worst place I've ever been to after the Ricoh... Pride Park is well presented out of town shopping centre, very nice pisses on the Ricoh and anywere in Leicester such as Fosse Park
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 I fancy the dish of the day, sacrificial lamb :-)
Alexikokopops Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Speak for yourself. Second worst place I've ever been to after the Ricoh... I think he's referring to this rather than this
lcfcadam Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 I think he's referring to this rather than this As was I, in some respects. Area around the ground was soul-destroying and horrible - the walk from the train station was like a trip through one of my visions of an out-of-town, shitty out-of-town restaurant ruled hell... But each to their own I always say
lcfcadam Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 Pride Park is well presented out of town shopping centre, very nice pisses on the Ricoh and anywere in Leicester such as Fosse Park And in all seriousness do you actually think that? All I saw when I went was a depressing, grey piece of reclaimed industrial land filled with car showrooms and the odd food joint. Fosse Park is a shopping park, Pride Park is an industrial estate. I don't really think you can even draw a comparison really, but I know where I'd rather spend my time if I had to (bearing in mind that I also reserve a certain hatred for Fosse Park...)
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 I was absolutely livid the other week when i found the burger deal at 'Spoons had gone up in price.

I really cant be bothered to have an argument about the merits of a shopping centre the topic was about were to eat, you sad little boy. Having a hatred for an out of town shopping centre says to me you need to find yourself a girfriend. Twisting a simple comment into a my dads stronger than yours argument shows how imature you really are.
foxoffderby Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 I think he's referring to this rather than this Yes it was orginally a business park, it now has shops such as Sainsbury,s Costco, Toys r Us and Halfords places to eat such Pizza Hut Burger King as well as DW soccerdome and gym so I would say its a multi use facility not just a business park which correctley was its original concept. The leisure side came along after the businesses had moved in Wiki fails to take that into account.

Twisting a simple comment into a my dads stronger than yours argument shows how imature you really are. Mate, I think you'll find that I said I hated Pride Park when I went (simple, fair comment), you replied by saying that it "pisses on ... anywhere in Leicester like Fosse Park" (comment I disagree with and happen to think is a bit stupid) so I point out that I find it hard to understand. Seems fair enough to me. Oh and having a hatred for out of town shopping centres is something any town-centre based business, village-dweller or any number of other groups would readily admit to. Yeah, I hate the ****ers - so what? Oh and perhaps you could learn how to spell immature before you accuse me of being it (though I appreciate the irony, that me having a go at you by pointing out your spelling mistakes is in fact somewhat immature in itself...)
Captain... Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 Just don't eat the lamb, I made that mistake the last time I was in Derby it was extremely salty and tasted slightly of cock.

Ok I understand what your saying now, as an away fan from the train station you get to the ground via a walk, yes it doesn't look too great. That part was done last and was only ment to be a route to the ground for away fans hence not a lot of money was spent on it. But to call it an Industrial estate is a bit harsh. How many Industrial estates have places such as Boots, Currys and Mothercare? If you come via car, from the route on the A52 Brian Clough Way were most of the home fans will be coming from its a different story. ps ok I don't use a spell checker but having a go at me about spelling, is that the best you can come up with? I didn't know I was getting marks out of ten each time I posted.
