Toby or not Toby Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Wouldn't if he will finally get his man.....Ian Dowie!!
Corky Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Mandaric is a big fan of Neil Warnock- any chance?
broughtonblue Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Michael Morrison from your boys £200k est. Mark Reynolds from Motherwell £100k. Reda Johnson from Plymouth £200k est. Gary Madine from Carlisle £500k est. Isaiah Osbourne loan from Aston Villa. That's roughly £1m! Although I think some of the signings (particularly Morrison) are questionable that they were made by Irvine. To be honest only Reynolds and Madine have looked any good so far. It's far too early to write them off just yet though. So Mandy allows his manager to sign five players in the transfer window, then sacks him three days later! Has the bloke totally lost the plot now? Give Morrison a chance, he will come good for you lot, wouldn't have minded if he had stayed here to be honest.
tartanowl Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Mandaric is a big fan of Neil Warnock- any chance? As funny as it sounds I would maybe take Warnock now! I think it's highly unlikely though given QPRs position. He has said in the past whilst he was at United that he'd love to take charge of us and "relegate us" but I think if he actually got the job he would do a professional job. Deep down I think Warnock respects Sheffield Wednesday and as a local man he knows what size of club we are and the expectations that we have. He has said before numerous times that we are a massive club. It wound the Blunts fanbase up majorly. I don't think it will happen though! In terms of the appointment everything is in place for us. We have no debt, a bit of money to spend, a large fanbase, a decent squad for the division, and huge potential to grow. This job is a great opportunity for someone. My personal preference is Keegan. We'll have to wait and see who Milan picks though. I've put the Samaritans on speed-dial just in case it's Megson, Dowie, Worthington, Burley etc.
Jay Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 You should be safe from Megson after he walked out on us for Bolton, but god help you if he does arrive through the door. The thought of playing 5-4-1 makes me shudder. I remember that game against Sheff Utd at home just before he left and we had no desire at all to try and win the game from the first kick of the ball! I swear that night the formation was 5-5-0. I wonder if Mad Mandy has used the "Trust me" line yet

I swear that night the formation was 5-5-0. I wonder if Mad Mandy has used the "Trust me" line yet Statement from Milan Mandaric Posted on: Thu 03 Feb 2011 "From the first day that I met Alan Irvine, it was clear he is an honourable man who would work tirelessly to take this club back into the Championship and I admired the dedication and commitment Alan showed to the job. Unfortunately, the results did not follow. We have yet to win a league game since I came into the club, we have conceded a lot of goals and we were not picking up the points. That took us away from our objective of automatic promotion at the end of the season, we were sliding down the table and now we have to look up and the club has to move forward. I said when I arrived at Sheffield Wednesday that I would make some very tough decisions and the decision to part company with Alan is one of the hardest I have had to make throughout all my time in the game. But every decision I make is for the good of this club, not Milan Mandaric. Changing the manager was the last thing I wanted to do when I bought Sheffield Wednesday. I supported Alan from the first day and I supported him significantly in the January transfer window. We brought five new players into the club because we are desperate to get out of League 1 and back into the Championship. We have quality in the squad but it is not the biggest and Alan deserved the chance to strengthen the squad and show that he was the right manager for Sheffield Wednesday. But the performances were not consistent and the results were bad so although it was such a tough thing to do, I had to make the change. Alan leaves Hillsborough with my very best wishes and sincere thanks for the commitment he has shown to Sheffield Wednesday. I have to emphasise now that we are not writing off this season. Promotion was the target when I bought the club and promotion is still the target now. We are also through to the fifth round of the FA Cup so if anyone thinks we are writing this season off, they could not be more wrong. We move onto the next stage and that means recruiting the right manager to take the club where I want it to be and that is into the Premier League. I know the supporters have big ambitions too and that is the way I like it. I said in December that we will drive this club forward together, achieve success together and that very much is still the case. The fans trusted me when I bought their club and I ask them to keep on trusting me now because we will get this right. This is a big boat we have here and there will be some choppy waters on the way but trust me, we will get to the other side." I take it this was a regularly used phrase at Leicester too then?

Edmund Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 all sounds very similar. Although I think some of the signings (particularly Morrison) are questionable that they were made by Irvine. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be next
Wymsey Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 This was expected really. Milan loves to unstable clubs doesn't he
Ford Super Sunday Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Unfortunately on another forum I frequent the arrival of Mandaric was greeted like the messiah, and there were bright times ahead. I did try and warn them, but they just looked at the two seasons with Pearson, rather than the 15 months of instability that preceeded it Now, obviously the sacking of Irvine seems to be approved of by Shwed fans, as a change was needed, but if they don't appoint a strong character, if Mandaric carries on behaving like he did when first arriving here, then their fans are in a pickle. I also think that his desperation to get out of League 1 might be a hinderence. With us he only needed to jump one level to the Prem, MM will obviously be desperate for NPC football ASAP, so I wouldn't be surprised if he spat his dummy out several more times in the nex few months, if things don't go his way. We'll just have to see what players arrive in the summer!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 I hope Wednesday fans love Paul Hart, Iain Dowie, Gary Megson or someone equally as shit. However, there's only one man that can 'save their season,' and it's someone we were linked with alot when Mandaric was at the helm..... If I was a Wednesday fan I'd be scared.
loAf Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 haha, just spotted this on SSN http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11719_6719977,00.html
Fox1651 Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Yep typical Mandaric, heart in right place i think but too much meddling with things cost Leicester City our proud record of having NEVER slipped out of the top two divisions as we know and id be worried if i was a Sheff Wed fan as hes doing the same there isnt he bless him?
davieG Posted 3 February 2011 Author Posted 3 February 2011 already posted here - http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=70839 Oh and he's got nothing to do with LCFC now so wrong forum anyway
Matt Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 The first of many. Wednesday fans, get used to it, enjoy! Iain Dowie for Wednesday?
Leicester Lass Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 The Beeb says Megson http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_wed/9386999.stm Sheffield Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric has said he would be interested in appointing Gary Megson as the Owls' new manager.Wednesday parted company with Alan Irvine on Thursday, while boyhood Owls fan Megson has previously worked under Mandaric at Leicester City. "I'm interested in Gary Megson. Whether he gets the job, that's different," Mandaric told BBC Radio Sheffield. "He's top drawer and has tremendous experience. I rate Gary highly." Former Owls midfielder Megson, 51, was appointed Leicester boss by Mandaric in September 2007. But he left the Walker's Stadium after only six weeks to take charge of Premier League side Bolton Wanderers. The former Norwich, Stoke and West Bromwich Albion boss, has been out of work since leaving the Reebok Stadium in December 2009. But Megson, whose father Don also played for the Owls, still lives close to Sheffield. "He's worked in the Premier League and the Championship and taken teams up," added Mandaric. "And he has worked in a lot of difficult circumstances. "I haven't said that he will be our next manager. "Right now we are looking at four people, but that may go down to two." Irvine left Hillsborough with Wednesday, who were relegated from the Championship last season, lying 12th in League One, with eight points separating them from both the play-off and relegation places. "You have to make a change," said Mandaric. "We just couldn't justify this, not for me, but for the whole club. "We had a good man, who worked very hard, but things were not going in the right direction. You can't do anything else but make the change. "We want to bring in the proper guy who will stop the results we've been having and turn us around."
Narborough_fox Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Wonder how they'll fair in league 2 next season. It'll be Sousa soon.
ajthefox Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 In fairness to MM it seems like he has backed Irvine but he just wasn't good enough so this isn't really a case of him being trigger happy. He's still churning out the bullshit though so don't go thinking he's going to be sensible just because sacking Irvine was the right thing to do. I had to laugh when he mentioned "premier league" I mean really, is he serious? The best thing he did for us was sell us and fook off, his plans of getting us to the premier league failed miserably. I don't remember the last time Weednesday were in the PL but the wait is only going to get longer with Mandy. Oh, and those "choppy waters" he spoke of though, they're the next 4 months under Megson which lead to relegation.
Guest Bilo Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Gary Johnson was odds-on fave with the bookies earlier according to SSN. Would be a good appointment for Wednesday in spite of getting the sack from Peterborough, which is arguably a bigger circus than any club Mandaric runs.
Floridafox Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 I know the future belongs to our favourite Swede but I couldn't help having a chuckle at the goings on at Sheff Weds. He's only been there a matter of weeks but already Mandaric is up to his old tricks - sacking Irvine and lining up Megson as his replacement. I recall Portsmouth fans warning us of what to expect with MM. Now its Sheff Weds turn. No small thanks to Milan for his time at Leicester but it feels so good that this is all behind us.
Ozwin Posted 4 February 2011 Posted 4 February 2011 The Wednesday fans have wanted him out for months, they are closer to relegation than promotion and have been playing below expectations all season with apparent 'negative football' against the likes of Yeovil and Walsall. I think you'd need to be pretty tolerant to give Irvine any longer, this isn't a Mandaric random sacking, you could see this coming a mile off.
