davieG Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 .....according to Sky. So Rob Kelly to take over as caretaker all sounds very similar.
MC Prussian Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 ... succeded by one of the following: Allen, Megson, Holloway or Paulo Sousa. Place your bets. Good old Mandy never lets you down.
Jon the Hat Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Not like Milan to sack a manager... He always wants his own man, would have been unusual for the guy in place when he bought a club to be a good fit.
surrifox Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 what's the definition of madness ... doing the exact same thing over and over again always expecting a different result
Edmund Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Sousa is appointed as their next manager. I bet Morrison will be happy if that happens!!
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 how about Nigel pearson, bearing in mind his previous connections with mandy and wednesday?
Marmite Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Irvine has been sacked as boss of Sheffield Wednesday, Mandaric just can't help himself can he http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11703_6719701,00.html

Edmund Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 how about Nigel pearson, bearing in mind his previous connections with mandy and wednesday? You think Pearson will work with Mandaric again?
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 And so it begins for Wednesday fans. I can't ever think or talk about MM without the circus music coming into my head. I wonder if he will actually give Ince a job this time rather than just talking about it.... I am so glad we had Mad Mandy as chairman. Makes you appreciate how good our new owners are. Even Hoos seems to know his place in the background these days.
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 You think Pearson will work with Mandaric again? Yes. it was Hoos he had a problem with.
tartanowl Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 5 weeks too late. We were praying Mandaric would sack him earlier. Strangely enough for him (and with his track record) he held back for a while. Irvine is a candidate for worst manager in our history. He inhertited a shambles from Laws but he has had a huge budget to spend and we are nearer the relegation zone than the playoffs in the 3rd division. We've lost the same amount of games away from home as the bottom 2 clubs Walsall and Dagenham, we've lost 5-1 to Exeter, 4-0 to Leyton Orient, and conceded 5 again the other night at Peterborough. Not good enough. The next appointment is crucial. Our potential is massive. Debt free, big fanbase, decent squad for the division, I just fear the sacking has come too late to salvage this season. We need an inspiring appointment and someone who has the motivational qualities to get the best out of the players who are massively underperforming. If someone like Megson or Dowie is appointed I'll be furious.

One Arm Babba Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Ha ha, he loves wielding the axe. I think he does it coz he can!
Corky Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Tartan, why did Irvine fail at Wednesday? It seemed agreed that he'd do well when he took over, yet relegation and mid-table midway through the season suggests he's done anything but well. Bad tactics? Didn't see your post, you've probably answered my questions.

Megson would do a job for you but won't happen given his previous with MM
tartanowl Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Timing seems strange, just after transfer window shuts. Did he let Irvine bring anybody in? Michael Morrison from your boys £200k est. Mark Reynolds from Motherwell £100k. Reda Johnson from Plymouth £200k est. Gary Madine from Carlisle £500k est. Isaiah Osbourne loan from Aston Villa. That's roughly £1m! Although I think some of the signings (particularly Morrison) are questionable that they were made by Irvine. To be honest only Reynolds and Madine have looked any good so far. It's far too early to write them off just yet though.
tartanowl Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Tartan, why did Irvine fail at Wednesday? It seemed agreed that he'd do well when he took over, yet relegation and mid-table midway through the season suggests he's done anything but well. Bad tactics? Irvine has been accused of over-coaching the players. He puts a lot of emphasis on fitness and hard training and personally I think some of the lads are burnt out. I know some of the backroom staff that were already at the club were not too fond of his methods. He was described to me by one person at the club as "very authoritarian". He also concentrates far too much on the opposition and sets his teams out to counter the way they play. He watches countless DVDs of every team we play and he never (or very rarely) picked a team purely to try to win a game in our way and to our strengths. That's all very well in some games against better opposition, but most teams in that league should be worrying about us. Not the other way round! Irvine has put his heart and soul into the job and worked very hard. Too hard I think in some respects. Good man, pleasant to speak to, gave 110%, but just not capable of doing what is admittedly a very difficult job. The expectations are huge here and he couldn't handle it. I would think just about anyone would fancy the SW job and there are a few good managers out there at the moment (Hughton etc). Megson would do a job for you but won't happen given his previous with MM Thank goodness for that! Megson is top of my unwanted pile. For some ridiculous reason he is in the 'legends' section on our website. He was an average a player just as he is an average manager. Persoanlly I can't stand him.
Joe. Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 You should be safe from Megson after he walked out on us for Bolton, but god help you if he does arrive through the door. The thought of playing 5-4-1 makes me shudder.

ScouseFox Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Gotta love Milan sacking more managers. Although, by all accounts, it's been coming.
