Mandaric sacks Irvine and appoints Megson

Megson probably already is, well he did at LCFC.

But Mandy didn't give him a contract to sign so you cant blame him (lus it was the best thing that could have happened from a fans point of view)

3-0 defeat at Tranmere tonight, Wednesday now 16th in League One.

Tartan :(

:( It is heartbreaking watching us at the moment mate. We haven't won in nearly 10 games in the 3rd division. I was so angry and emotional after Tranmere I nearly cried and I'm not a silly soft b*stard! I'm so devastated at how this season has panned out. It has been one kick in the nuts after another. Some of our players just don't care. It's horrible.

There is something very wrong at the football club just now. With the players we have at our disposal it just shouldn't be happening. We can and should get out of this. It's whether we can restore the dressing room and weed out the shysters. Mandaric still thinks the playoffs are achievable but that is pie in the sky. We are in a relegation battle and we are going down if we don't stop this slide soon. It was a good point on Tuesday at Bournemouth (it makes me ****ing sick typing that) and we need to follow it up tomorrow at Carlisle with a result. I'm nervous and a little excited about tomorrow. Anyway early start. Hopefully it will be the beginning of a good run of form. All the best for tomorrow against Coventry.

This is why I'll always have respect for the job Nigel Pearson did for us in getting us up at the first attempt.

We could so easily have been in your very unenviable position.

Another pathetic performance from us today. We are conceding goals left, right and centre and look an absolute shambles. I thought the corner had turned after the win at Carlisle but it was back to normal at Hillsborough today. Totally dominated by a team in financial turmoil, that have sold all their assets, and couldn't fill their subs bench. We could and should have conceded many more. We are not too good to go down (even from this league) and I am now seriously worried about us dropping to the bottom division for the first time in our history.

We are bottom of the League 1 form table.

We have gone from +17 goal difference to +1 in just over 2 months.

We have conceded 43 goals in our last 19 games.

I am so disillusioned with Wednesday I actually bet £5 on us going down a few weeks ago and it is now looking like it could be a good bet. I got 40/1 on our relegation a few weeks ago. You can still get 26/1 at Corals. :( Worth an outside bet the way we are playing.

trouble is you also have a manager perfectly happy to send a team out with no intention of trying to win the game. so it's really looking bleak

How is Morrison getting on pal? Sorry if it has been asked before.

Really feel for you tartan Owl.

Mandaric struck up a habit of only ever appointing managers who wouldn't object to his interference. he sure did go through quite a few before he found one who could cope with that AND still manage to gell a team together. But don't worry too much - if Mandaric gets worried himself that you are in danger of relegation he will just get a new manager.... :S

He has been that bad he didn't even make the bench yesterday. Looks an awful signing so far if I'm honest. I'm hoping it's just a blip and he has been nervous playing in a poorly performing team.

lol Sorry but can't help but laugh a little at that. Seems like everyone else we have let go recently has gone from strength to strength.

Problem is he's a confidence player as well so his game more than likely wont pick up unless he gets something to believe in and from what you have been saying that doesn't seem likely to be happening any time soon.

Sorry to see it's going so badly for you Tartan, although I'd be amazed if you went down much further.

Megson is shite but he kept us just about above water for the brief time he was here and even though you should be looking up not down, I do feel he will do the same with you.

Disappointed for Morrison as well, he's a very good league 1 defender and competent in the championship on form, it just hasn't gone his way since NP left here.

I dont think Sheff Wed will go down again, that would be really bad for the city. I suppose the only positive of being an Owl at the moment is seeing the plight of Sheff Utd, both teams can play each other next season again at least.

Whilst Rotherham look like they could potentially go up, making three Sheffield based teams in the same league. That would be something!

Hope Wednesday pick up, but with Megson in vharge you wont be getting that goal difference up soon. He aims for one nil wins all the time, and when you are conceding so many, thats not an easy thing to do.

Wednesday won't go down, there are more than four teams worse than them in League One surely.

It's not so much that the're too good to go down, it's the fact that there's an eight point gap between them and the bottom four and I'd be surprised to see anyone close that however badly Wednesday play. Didn't you have a similar season to this when you first went down to League One a few years ago Tartan then came up the next season?

Aye, it's looking like 4 from 5 at the bottom of league 1, chances are between any of them they won't catch Wednesday. Shocked to see them doing so badly, I've seen them once this season and they won 6-2 and looked great going forward.

Hope they turn it around for the fans, not for MM and Megson, clowns them two.

Although a little funny at first, I've been rather annoyed at how both sheffield clubs have been doing in the past couple seasons.

Wednesday got relegated in my first season whilst up here and it looks like United might be going down, so I've gone from having two awayers on my doorstep to possibly none next year!

Not really... The Owls lost 4-1 at home to Peterborough tonight.

They were 3-0 down after 41 minutes...

I know the visitors are THE form team at the moment, but you have to ask yourself when that Sheffield Wednesday Freefall will end.

Morrison played for all 90+ minutes.

How has this happened Tartan?

I know Peterborough are banging in goals left, right and centre but surely you shouldn't be conceding four at home to them?

It does get funnier and funnier.

Not really.

Yes. Really.

I will always despise any club that has that mad shit of a Serb at the helm. Likewise, any club with the ginger scrote in charge is equally hated.

The fact that they're both at the same one is just one big bonus. Long may it continue, and force the pair of them out of the game for good.

I don't see how you can wish that on any club and/or any fans.

We've been there and we know what it feels like steering towards purgatory with no parachute attached.

Chairman's statement

It is three months now since I took over the club and that time has passed very quickly. The most important thing I have seen is something that I saw before I bought Sheffield Wednesday - and that is the supporters' genuine love of the club. Everywhere I go in the community I feel the incredible respect that people have for Wednesday. That gives me positive energy and I have to be honest and say there is a lot of work to be done and a lot of improvements to be made in all departments.

The club has been suffering for many years and reversing that process takes time. We are stabilising the financial issues of the past, the bills have been paid and we are going in the right direction off the field.

My desperate and first desire is to get us back into the Championship, so the position we find ourselves in right now is disappointing, embarassing and makes me very frustrated. But the bright side is the support of Sheffield Wednesday fans and their belief and trust that they know I will make things happen. Thousands of our fans have already bought season tickets for next season and I thank them very much. I am quite sure that they believe we will make the positive changes required to make us very solid on and off the field.

I am very much committed to this club. I am not the most patient man in the world and I have the very same agenda as all of our supporters. This club belongs to the fans, to the season ticket holders and all the supporters that cannot come for the full season but still love the club. As I have said before, I am the maintenance man here, I came to build the club out of its difficulties and take it as far as possible. But without the love of the club and the commitment from the fans, that job is not possible.

When I see the thousands of fans who follow this club home and away, I find it amazing. It gives me positive pressure and I want to make it clear there is no them and us at this club - only us, together. With the loyalty we can show each other, we will make this club successful again. Everyone talks about Wednesday being a sleeping giant and it is but the giant has taken a lot of sleeping pills so we all have to work extremely hard to wake him up and bring him back to reality.

We have to be positive and look only in the long term but the short term as well. This season has been very disappointing because I gave the green light for new signings but it just didn't work out. But I have high expectations and I want us to get as many points as possible from the 11 games we have left. Then we will make a very aggressive drive to make it happen next season and I will be a lot more educated about what this club is all about on and off the field which will help me minimise any obstacles.

Next season will be massive for this club because I will have a full season to take us forward and you have my guarantee that I will do everything possible to turn our situation around. I have so much to give to Sheffield Wednesday and the fans and I hope very much that your reward for buying your season tickets will be the success at this club that is so long overdue.
