Foxybeaver Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 Is it just me who noticed that Yakubu dosn't seem to work that hard, he just seems to stand upfront and wait but isn't bothered if the ball dosnt get to him. Is he or am I just going insane.
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 I might have shouted "50 grand a week and you can't even chase the ball" once or twice. I think he needs a bit of match time. It's fair to say his fitness has improved, and he looks a little sharper.
Leicester_Mad Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 4 goals in 6. He can stand there all day long as long as he scores...the formation caters for him doing that as long as the 2 "wingers" put a shift in which they are doing
Brown Fox Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 That's what Yakubu is all about though. We all should know this. He is extremely lazy but he'll score goals guaranteed. What's he on now 4 goals in 6 and 2 assists? Yes it is frustrating sometimes but he can produce that magic and he knows where the net is. Rather have him than any other striker in the champ!!
FoxesFan100 Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 If people knew about him, you'd know he doesnt run about or chase much down, in a way he conserves his energy for whilst we're attacking. And yeah 4 goals in 6 is pretty awesome.
CKB Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 Does he look lazy at times.....yes Does he seem to not bother at times..yes But in the end feed him and he scores it's simple as.. So i'll take that thank you!
STUHILL Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 I think although frustrating to watch, it is the way he has always played and he needs the ball to his feet and you can see how deadly he can be. Not sure why he can't do both, i.e. work harder off the ball, but to be honest, can't argue with his goal return so far and we are winning game after game with him in the side so I can't complain
Guest shearfox Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 At the end of the day the game is all about scoring goals and Yakubu does that.
fox123 Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 Conserve his energy, wrap him in cotton wool, don't let him run like a head less chicken, he's producing the goods.
cc_star Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 It's a criticism that has dogged him throughout his career It's safe to say if he ran around like Waghorn, whilst banging them in like he does he'd be a £30m+ and wouldn't be at the Walkers Whilst the goals are going in, its not a big concern
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 have you seen the size of him? he's not that kind of player were he chases every loose ball and put defences under pressure for 90 mintues hes more of a target man than anything who holds the ball up for the wingers to get forward yet he's getting on the scoresheet most games, give him some credit playing upfront on your own isnt exactly the easiest task in the world
Leicfox Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 At the end of the day the game is all about scoring goals and Yakubu does that. Bang on...He is a lazy player, mainly coz he's massive, but he produces the goods, End of.
thybluefox Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 He's an eater, but he is not a Hunter. He works best with movement around him, strong and skilful so doesn't need to run around like a mentalist.
Fox You Forest Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 Nope, not just you that has noticed it, but it is just you that wasn't expecting it.
Finnegan Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 He's big, he's blue, He's six foot two, He scores for me, He scores for you, Who needs Earnshaw, We've got Yakubu!?
Captain... Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 What was our problem before xmas? We were playng well, running around but not scoring. Welcome to the antidote, his name is Yakubu, and he willl **** you up!
bardonfox Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 This is slightly off topic but I didn't think it was worth making a new thread over. Can anyone tell me why Yakubu was booked last night? I was sitting in the kop but I couldn't figure it out. Cheers
Jon25747 Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 Being a good striker doesn't necessarily mean being in the Dickov mould. On Bents Villa debut he touched the ball once in the oppositions box; his goal. The formation needs that "goal hanging" striker and 4 goals in 6 games is a mouth watering return.
Guest Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 He doesn't do an awful lot of chasing around but when he does decide to chase something he's got a decent bit of pace still. He knows the best times to conserve his energy and where to position himself to score. If he carries on like this then we'll all be happy
Tommy G Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 Waiting for a moaning thread like this. Couldn't give a shit about him running round like a headless chicken. He's scored 4 in 6?? With lcfc you will always get moaners whatever the weather
Unabomber Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 The fact that this thread even exists is fucking embarrassing. Some people really are clueless.
