Walshy5 Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 Weale Naughton Bamba Mee Berner King Abe Wellens Waghorn Yakubu Dyer Thats the team id pick but we all know sven wont drop Ricardo, PVA, Gallagher or Vassell. My only criticisum of sven is that he dont seem to have the bottle to drop certain players when they,re playing poor. I await the how dare i criticise sven brigade
B52 Posted 19 February 2011 Posted 19 February 2011 ...how dare i criticise sven brigade I dare you....
cc_star Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 Fantastic game to have, a test to see just how good we are after our run of playing teams below us (some of them well below us) If we play like we did against SheffUtd, Derby 2nd half & Bristol City we could be facing our first defeat of the year, but if we play like we did against Derby 1st half - No team could live with us. Team-wise I favour Weale (he's far from the best keeper in the world but I have far more confidence in him than Ricardo) Waggy is worth a look but I doesn't fit into our formation as he's wasted out wide & Yakubu is going to start ahead of him, although I'd look to bring Waggy on earlier than the 80+min Still not convinced by PVA, he was amazing for 45mins against Derby but the other 3&half games he's been poor & I feel we're missing Berners threat from corners & set-pieces etc & also defensively from opposition set-pieces Form is on our side, but I'm really not sure. 1-1 If we do win however I'm going to get carried away & stick some money on us for the title & Champions League qualification next year, maybe.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 just saw the Forest v Cardiff highlights on the FLS and i think we have what it takes to beat Cardiff. they had Man Utd keeper Tom Heaton in goal and he didnt look great, David Marshall is a good keeper and he hasnt played for a while not sure why might be injury but with him not playing is a massive boost for us. their defence didnt look great either, anthony gerrard is at hull, mark kennedy joined ipswich so the defence they had last season is a lot different / worse in my opinion. whittingham was playing center mid and was always out of position trying to get push forward and get a goal, same with bellamy always wanting the goal leaving cardiff very exposed, forest hit them on the counter atleast 3 times in wich they should of scored. john parkin started and he was useless so hopefully he keeps his place, chopra always scores against us. were on a good run so if kyle naughton can stick tight to bellamy and not get caught out of position im going for a 1-2 city win.
kane Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 RICARDO NAUGHTON BAMBA MEE PVA GLUE ABE WELLENS KING GALLAGHER WAGHORN YAKUBU THINK VASSELL NEEDS TO BE PLAYED UPFRONT AND NOT ON THE WING but start with waggers
Lisburn Fox Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 .....................................................................Weale Naughton..........................Mee.......................................Burma...............................Van A H ..............................................................Bamba ..................... Wellans..............................................................King Dyer............................................................................................Waghorn ..........................................................Yakubu Subs: Ricardo, Vitor, Berner, Vassell, Oakley, Abe, Howard
Head Honcho Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 I'd take the away point right now. Same here. I'm having a tenner on 2-2 but wouldn't mind losing it to a last minute goal from Waggy.
bigneville Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 Why oh Why are some people suggesting we change the back-line? Mee & Bamba have been a quality pair the last few games. The only changes that needs to be made is Abe in for Oakley. I would be suprised if we saw anything else but this.

Is he shagging your missus?

Agreed Berner would get roasted, as will PVA but we need to score more goals than Cardiff, we need to be fast. I certainly don't want to see Dyer start and Waghorn is no better on the wing. We either change the formation or Abe for Oakley.
FowFTW Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 Not sure if anyone noticed this but seeing the highlights after the game against bristol, you can see for the goal we conceded, it was a PvA og and if he would have left it then wellens was perfectly place to clear off the line. Ah well.
Howard9 Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Van Aanholt was very good against Derby??? Agree that the jury is still out, but again, he's only been here 4 games. I can understand the clamour for Waghorn to star but, much like Vassell, he's not a wide player. I'd keep him on the bench but be inclined to introduce him much much earlier. Weale Naughton Bamba Mee PvA Abe Wellens King Gallagher Yakubu Vassell Subs: Dyer, Waghorn (should get at least 25 minutes), Oakley, Berner, Bruma, Howard, Weale. Didnt know we had two weales ?
Candidcamera Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Just on what i have seen this season- Ricardo Naughton Bruma Bamba PVA Oakley Wellens King Dyer Vassell/Waghorn Yak
marbelladave Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 It's going to be a seriously tough game, and a quite pivotal one too! A good performance and a point or three will give our confidence a terrific boost, better still, we really would fear no one if we could get a win. A poor performance and a loss could well knock us out of our stride, must not happen! Our results since the turn of the year have been great, but it is worth pointing out that only Millwall were in the top half of the table, so taking on Cardiff, away, will require a real step up. With this in mind I would make minimal changes, just Abe for Oakley but I would want both Waghorn and Dyer involved much earlier than usual if the game turns out to be as tough as I expect.
AmericanScott Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 This game is huge and could define our current run of form as well as the remainder of the season. As others said in previous posts, i'd snatch a point right now i i had the chance. Players like Wellens, Gally, King, Dyer, Weale, etc. will most likely get fired up for this game after the playoff semi last season so revenge is in store from those said. Ricardo needs to be dropped. He looks too shaky when under pressure. He did make some important saves on Friday so there is hope for the guy. Because of this rich vein of form we are currently on, i have yet to clip my toenails in 2011. Part of me wants us to lose just snap the cheese filled crusty shites off my toes and start fresh. As long as we're winning, i'll continue the stank in my toes. Prediction: 1-1 (Bellamy - Gallagher pen)
Alf Bentley Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 That's certainly a radical move for the last half-hour...not only switching to a 5-man defence, but bringing on a 70s Krautrock band at leftside centre back. Do you reckon Dave Jones will respond by bringing on Neu! to play off Bothroyd or will he play Kraftwerk in the hole? Then with 30 to go free the formation up to become the following... Weale Naughton Bamba Mee Can Aanholt Wellens Oakley King Vassell Waghorn Gallagher Prediction Cardiff 0-2 Leicester - Leicester to overtake Leeds into 6th place
Guest Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Seriously it would be a massive win. I see that the Cardiff captain is saying how they need this win after the Forest loss. A win here puts us in the race, a loss and we're still a long way out praying.

Should he do that we can easily counter by playing Einsturzender Neubauten in front of the back 4, Bothroyd and co would be simply crushed....
ajthefox Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 huge came for both teams, us loosing would be a step back but Cardiff will be looking for a win no doubt about it. I think it's key we at least get something from this, a win would be insane but just a point would be big because I think a few teams below have very winnable games coming up.
atw88 Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Last time we lost at home was back in November not on Bellers' watch
Alf Bentley Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Maybe Grinderman would be better suited to that role? Oh dear, better quit this nonsense before we get dissed by a load of teenage gangster rap fans... Should he do that we can easily counter by playing Einsturzender Neubauten in front of the back 4, Bothroyd and co would be simply crushed....
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Need to win this one. A point's a must. This is the first real test of Sven's Blue Army. Saying that - win it and imagine the momentum. Other difficulty is I can't see any of the others above us dropping points tomorrow. Abe in for Oakley. Can cover more ground and he's more able to do his bit against the back four. Nothing against Oakley's recent performances. He won't start Waggy. He won't drop Ricardo. I don't really mind - he knows better than me.
