marbelladave Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Maybe Grinderman would be better suited to that role? Oh dear, better quit this nonsense before we get dissed by a load of teenage gangster rap fans... Nick Cave, greatest living kiwi.... I'm not worried about the rap fans, won't understand a word they say anyway....
MC Prussian Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Reading through the Cardiff City Forum once more reinstated my belief that this Alex! lad from Peterborough knows shit all about football or has at least been hibernating for the past 9 months... Going on about them having to (quote) "put up with Steve Howard swinging his elbows all over the place and that dirty shit Waghorn" (end quote)... Howard's still out injured and Waghorn might make another comeback as a super-sub, you twat. Lucky he didn't make any claims about Fryatt or Kermorgant starting... Oh, and Chopra's doubtful for tomorrow.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 A make or break game tomorrow. If we win or draw we're looking good. If we lose the wheels could come off. If we turn up I reckon it'll be 1-1. If we don't it'll be 3 nil to the team who should actually be playing teams like TNT

Guest Bilo Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Huge game this one. I'd be very brave to say Cardiff are there for the taking but if you look at the respective form of the two sides in 2011 thus far, we look a fair bet. You'd certainly argue we'd have the edge in terms of confidence. Leicester P8 W7 D1 L0 F20 A6 Pts 22 Cardiff P9 W4 D3 L2 F13 A12 Pts 15 That defensive solidity that's served us well will really be put to the test against players of Bellamy's, Bothroyd's and Whittingham's quality and it's vital that we turn up in a Derby away mood as opposed to a Sheff Yoo one if we aren't to blow the unbeaten record. Personally, I'd quite happily take a draw in this one and keep the confidence flowing throughout the squad.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 You know it. Are you back for cov?

vandamman Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 I don't see it as 'make or break' but a win would put us in a great position to mount a push for 2nd. You've got to be positive going into a game like this, I'm predicting City 1-0. However, even with a win, I cannot see us breaking 6th place as the teams above I doubt will lose. If we do win, Saturday will be an interesting day, as the teams above have some tough fixtures and we have COV, wahay! Also, Oakley out please, not done badly last 2 games but certainly not done enough, Abe in. Keep the rest of the team the same but bring Waghorn on earlier.
vandamman Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Also, what I will say is that, this could be Ricardo's game. Cardiff obviously play nice football and are also prone to a long shot. They aren't going to be hoofing it into the air like Bristol etc. I don't think you can doubt Ricardo is a great shot stopper, I sometimes think Weale doesn't always do too well against long shots. I don't know really why everyone has an attachment to Weale, he has done a good job but I think if we can give Ricardo game time, he could be excellent. 2 games is not enough.
Captain... Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 I disagree with those saying drop PVA for Berner, a big fan of Bruno, but the way Cardiff play with lots of pace and good passing I would stick with PVA. Abe in for Oakley, Vassell out for Dyer or Waghorn, make subs early in the second half though to actually impact the game. Weale vs Ricardo, is a tough one, I understand the Weale concern that with the talent Cardiff have they will be taking pot shots from distance, the midfield must close them down quickly regardless of who is in goal, and maybe Ricardo will perform well in his sweeper keeper role to prevent them getting in behind our back line. My worry is with Ricardo that players like Boothroyd and Olofinjana providing a physical presence they will target Ricardo at set pieces, whilst the likes of Burke, Parkin, Whittingham and Bellamy all have the ability to get to the byline and whip a good ball in to the box.
MrLuke Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 I've seen Cardiff play a fair few times this season, fair to say their defence has not been up to much. Saying that, they can be pretty lethal going forward. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Ramsey and Bothroyd have all looked frightening.
nickelbyfox Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 When did cardiff last lose at home? 20 Nov, 2010 Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the league apparently
ajthefox Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 I've seen Cardiff play a fair few times this season, fair to say their defence has not been up to much. Saying that, they can be pretty lethal going forward. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Ramsey and Bothroyd have all looked frightening. I might not have seen Cardiff play as much you but you must be selling them short, they are where they are on merit. Admittedly their attack is what they're known for, but I think us and them are very alike in terms of strength throughout the squad, and I don't think you'd be saying our defence had "not been up to much".
nickelbyfox Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Think Cardiff on Tuesday will be a really good benchmark to see how good we really are. I mean if we lose it is not the end of the world, but it is a good chance to go into an away game with more pressure on Cardiff in my opinion, is if they win should have won at home, yet if they lose the wheels really look to be coming off for them! Regardless of the result really would like to see how we compete and am hoping for another victory!
artursteppe Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Ricardo Naughton Bruma Bamba Mee Van Aanholt Abe King Wellens Yakubu Vassell We're perfect for a 3-5-2 formation or 5-3-2 or whatever you wanna call it! The usual subs, but bring Waggy on first - he will be dying to score after last year in the play-offs.
Captain... Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Ricardo Naughton Bruma Bamba Mee Van Aanholt Abe King Wellens Yakubu Vassell We're perfect for a 3-5-2 formation or 5-3-2 or whatever you wanna call it! The usual subs, but bring Waggy on first - he will be dying to score after last year in the play-offs. In that formation I would play Gallagher instead of Abe much more creative and can spread the play much better than relying on Wellens, Abe and King will still defer responsibility to Wellens. Also Gallagher has been a revelation under Sven. With that back 3 Bamba and Bruma could both operate as a sweeper playing further up the pitch and picking up the likes of Bellamy and Whittingham coming from deep, this would allow our midfield to play with less defensive responsibility and therefore be more creative. As I mentioned discussing this elsewhere, Waghorn would be a better partner to Yakubu, much more energy and movement than Vassell, who has looked like he needs a rest, Waghorn would be required to drop deep and pull the play out wide, provide the link up between midfield and attack as well as get up quickly to support Yakubu. He would also chase down the opposition defenders and hurry them into a mistake. We can always bring Abe on if we need more bite in the middle, probably for Waghorn/Vassell and push Gallagher up to play behind Yakubu, like wise Dyer on for PVA for more out and out attack.
acooling08 Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Or maybe he's just good? Not really, I think he is an average player who has moments of brilliance. He may be strong but his touch is useless, he can't run, and I've never seen him jump for a flick on. He was hopeless against Bristol but like I said, you'd be stupid to replace someone who's scoring.
blueredswed Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 When did cardiff last lose at home? Tomorrow and I think 3-2 to Leicester (but my thoughts is 3-0) And perhaps they display the same to us as when they played against nottingham.... but that was just not at home. But here we goes my loveliest foxes
bluebeau Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Just on what i have seen this season- Ricardo Naughton Bruma Bamba PVA Oakley Wellens King Dyer Vassell/Waghorn Yak So you would drop Mee & bring in Bruma??? Mee has been brilliant since his debut game for City, MOM at least twice. Bruma not really been tested yet. Can't see Sven dropping Mee.
Ric Flair Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Not really, I think he is an average player who has moments of brilliance. He may be strong but his touch is useless, he can't run, and I've never seen him jump for a flick on. He was hopeless against Bristol but like I said, you'd be stupid to replace someone who's scoring. It always amazes me how some fans cannot understand the abilities of a pure goalscorer. Players whose main attribute is lethal finishing often get chastized for not putting enough effort in on other part's of the game. Fair enough there are strikers with excellent finishing who also have plenty of other assets but Lineker would often get criticized for goal hanging as would Michael Owen. Who cares if they don't chase after lost causes or dive in on tackles, 4 goals and 3 assists in 6 games is exceptional at this level and his record in the Premiership is very good as well. The sooner our fans realise that Yakubu will score us goals and make oppositions defence drawn out of position for the likes of King and Gallagher to get in to the better, that's all he'll do but it'll win us matches. We have 8 or 9 other players who will do everything Yakubu doesn't do and that's enough. It's no coincidence since we got a goalscorer in, we've not lost. We were murdering teams with possession and chances and not winning due to poor finishing, all it takes is Yakubu 1 oe 2 half chances and we're 1 goal to the good. It's that simple.
