Steven Davies comes out as Gay

Thousands of people come out as gay. Why does everyone make such a big deal of it because it's a sports person?

They should be judged on what they're paid to do, regardless of their sexuality.

Sure, he'll get some banter/stick about it, but if he's big enough to come out, he's big enough to deal with whatever's going to be thrown at him.

Isn't it about time you practice what you preach and come out of the closet!!!

I dont have any fears chap.

I've worked with several gay people since, all really nice blokes and got on with them well, but it still wouldn't feel right undressing in front of them.

I'm not sure if this PC World we live in has gone mad, or if I am a dinosaur, but it's the way I feel and believe it or not just like Davies has the right to be openly gay I have a right to feel uneasy undressing in front of a homosexual.

If that makes me a **** so be it, end of for me.

Fell free to continue to patronize etc.. I wont be reading.

Excellent, don't read this then:

I ain't racist - I got me loads of black friends........

I ain't homophobic I got me some gays I work with and we are friendly with each other but if they were to see me naked well golly gosh, they may attack me for my sexy tush.

Yes Mack, I don't mean to be patronising (I've got lot's of prejudicial friends) but you are a dinosaur in this instance, though I don't mean to offend.

Do you have a dog?

You could practice taking it for a walk round the block just wearing Speedo's and build up from there, just until you get your confidence up?

In all seriousness Mack, maybe have a think about what makes you quote 'uneasy' and although you quote 'don't have any fears' I can't think of anything that makes me uneasy of apprehensive that isn't associated with a type of fear.......... it's all culturally learnt behaviour....... just gotta challenge that stuff that makes you feel uncomfortable mate.

Good on him. Even in this day and age being a gay sportsman is still sadly taboo and anything that can help to break the wall of silence that no doubt causes great torment to many closet gay sportspeople can only be a good thing.

I think it calls for mixed changing rooms/toilets etc everyone in together male, female and whatever, seems like when children become adults we lose a sense of perspective and gain a whole load of inhibitions.

I blame the Victorians although they many were only prudish in public it seems.

Let's hope for his sake that Ricardo isn't gay.

As Mack has made clear, gay people genes are also molesting genes. The same genes that also mean they fancy almost every person of the same gender. Come on people.

I love the way you say "no doubt I'm going to be called names as usual" as if you SHOULDN'T be embarrassed at being a complete fucking caveman.

I've always found the arrogance of statements like that hilarious. What, just because he's gay he's desperate enough to be perving on you is he? So every woman that ever sees you with your shirt off instantly jumps on you and starts touching you up?

You fucking wish, son.

Jesus. It's a sexual preference is all, it does't make him a bloody rapist.

Over reaction of the year.

Just to add to the tide of "not really" - he basically put into words precisely what I thought when I read the original post.

Interesting comments on here guys. I'm female (also straight) and have straight, lesbian and bisexual friends. Do i feel in the least bit odd about getting naked in front of them at swimming,,,the gym,,,,sharing rooms girly hols,,,spa days etc? No.

They are still the mates they were when we were all fully clothed! Just because they are gay/bi doesn't mean they fancy every female going,,the same as i don't find all men attractive.

And no fellas,,,you arent coming on the next weekend away ! :P

Childish, contribute-nothing twat of the year.

Ethug Nothing-in-real-life-so-has-to-play-the-hard-man-over-the-internet i have more posts than you so i am automatically right and cant stand anybody which disagrees with me or my pitiful country dick of his generation.

If he gay or not gay, it should not matter what he is. At the end of the day he is an England cricketer, and that should be all he is judged on.
