Bert Posted 12 March 2011 Posted 12 March 2011 Ricardo 7 - did everything asked of him today. Naughton 7 - sign him up. Quiet first half, awesome second half. Mee 6 - solid without really impressing. Bamba 7 - usual Sol. Vitor 9 - awesome at the back and two goals. Abe 8 - pipped to MOTM by Vitor. Great performance. Wellens 7 - much better than he has been. King 6 - slightly anonymous (again) unlucky not to score. Vassell 8 - fantastic second half. Ran his heart out and deserved a goal today. Yak 6 - worked much harder and proved a handsomely their back line. Gallagher 7 - we've badly missed his creative spark, he made a huge difference today. Subs, all 6's.

This is exactly what I'd have put, with the exception of rating Yuki a little higher. Thanks for saving me the effort.

ScouseFox Posted 12 March 2011 Posted 12 March 2011 Ricardo 7 - punched well twice when necessary, no pissing about at other times Naughton 7.5 - good, extra 0.5 for the goal, nice strike & celebration Bamba 7 Vitor 9 - he's been missed, two goals, nothing got past him at the back either Mee 7 Wellens 7 Abe 9 - simply superb, harassed every scunthorpe player, found his man with a pass 99% of the time and that strike was great technique, so unlucky King 7 Vassell 8 - beat his full back time and again, always looked to run in behind aswell Yakubu 6 Gallagher 8 - 3 assists and he balances the side nicely Subs all 6s, no major contribution from any of them.

Everytime i have seen him he has looked good, i would pay anything less than 3million for him, defensively sound and can score goals. However i dont know how high he is rated by benfica, hopefully he isnt rated highly!

It's a gut feeling, but I don't think we'll be able to sign any of the loanees, which is a shame. Naughton has developed so much since Jan, it seems.

Anyway: - Ricardo - 8 - Handling, distribution both sound today. Missed one cross that I can remember but even then I think he was fouled. Naughton - 7.5 - Good game, good goal. When I think of our right backs over the last 5 years (Nielson, Lamey, Morrison, Gilbert, Stearman, Kenton, Chambers, Maybury), you can put them all together into one player and not get anywhere near to the ability that this guy has. Bamba - 8 - Better than the last few games Vitor - 9 - On a rubbish pitch against no nonsense strikers, showed maturity beyond his years. Amazing to think he's been out for as long as he has Mee - 7 - Best left back option at the club. Abe - 8.5 - People have commented that he's too lightweight and not strong enough. Didn't see any evidence of that in this game. Wellens - 7 - Improvement on the last handful of games. Need him to get back to his player of the month form and quick. King - 6 - Large periods of the game I forgot he was playing. Some nice touches but how he managed to miss when Daz set him up was quite unbelievable. Gallagher - 8 - What we've been missing. Nobody at the club can give us what he can. Daz Vaz - 8 - When he wants too, I think he could skin anyone whenever he wanted too. Needs more consistency. Yak - 7 - Stood up to the physical challenge of Nelson well today. He is obviously a quality striker and has his own style. Alot of fans wont appreciate his style as it revolves around very little energy expended so when needed he can really explode. Today showed he can rough it and create space for others. Subs: all 6 Sven - 9 - We played football in the right areas and gave the Iron nothing. Set up in completely the right way and team selection was spot on. Hope for an unchanged side against Pompey,

They're not saying that's how much he's really worth, they're saying that's what he's worth to them. I mean Andy King's worth, what, two million maybe? But we'd hopefully never sell him for that low because he means a lot to our chances.
