broughtonblue Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 I see some players and think, how have they got this far in the game? Shola Ameobi at Newcastle springs to mind, a highly paid premiership player who has also represented his country at various levels, but never really seems to do a lot. Not including Leicester players as I don't want this to turn into an anti Yak, Oakley discussion, do any players make you feel this?
Finnegan Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Sorry but I am going to include Leicester players. How the fuck did Elvis Hammond get a professional contract? I've, literally, seen posters on this forum that I'd trust in my attacking line up more than him, no exaggeration.
whitlock Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Nicholas Bendtner, how the hell he plays for Arsenal i'll never know.
Wymsey Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Surprised about Stephen Ireland at the Villa. He rarely/never plays and yet he's got automatic doors on his car and has a mansion on the outskirts of Manchester.

Bugg Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Surprised about Stephen Ireland at the Villa. He rarely/never plays and yet he's got automatic doors on his car and has a mansion on the outskirts of Manchester. I always thought that was you
ousefox Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 Surprised about Stephen Ireland at the Villa. He rarely/never plays and yet he's got automatic doors on his car and has a mansion on the outskirts of Manchester. He was quality a few years ago for Man City, don't know what happened to him...
Bert Posted 20 March 2011 Posted 20 March 2011 You'll be surprised at the level these players do actually play at. Whereas they don't look good at the level they play at, the step up from non league football to professional football is something else.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Nicholas Bendtner, how the hell he plays for Arsenal i'll never know. For a 3rd choice striker, he actually weighs in with a decent number of goals a season and often scores important goals. Just very frustrating with his first touch/ scuffed shots sometimes. Really is the epitome of a player who blows hot and cold.
AyewJoking Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Its amazing how some of these players keep getting chances at other clubs. This can also be said for managers. I always thought Trevor Benjamin went a long way on minimal talent.
Houdini Logic Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 I sometimes wonder how much this is a confidence/anxiety/pressure thing? I used to know a girl at uni who was superb at everything to do with our subject, but come presentation time she'd absolutely shit it and turn into a bumbling mess. Some of these players may be absolutely class in training or behind closed doors, but put them in front of 40,000 screaming fans and nerves/adrenaline may get the better of them. I also think it's harsh to judge players from other teams because I know too often my friends comment on Leicester players and get it absolutely wrong. 5 minutes of MOTD highlights a week isn't enough to judge a player's worth.

I've, literally, seen posters on this forum that I'd trust in my attacking line up more than him, no exaggeration. Cheers Finners, means a lot. For what it's worth, I genuinely do believe I would do a better job in midfield than Gareth Barry for any side in the world, and that is no exaggeration. Seriously. He is shockingly turd.

To be fair mate, it's probably you he was on about!

He rarely/never plays and yet he's got automatic doors on his car and has a mansion on the outskirts of Manchester. He was quality the other season, but since watching him closer on the TV when he's in action, he looks a very lazy player with great technical ability.
lcfc_jme Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Blatantly I was talking about Kilworth. Kilworth of "PLEASE don't shoot!" fame?? I can see why. Thankyou for showing me the error of my ways. Also, giant lumps like Bas Savage are poor excuses for football players. 25 league goals in almost 200 league appearances is an absolute joke.
Finnegan Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Dunno what you mean, Jamie, Kilworth is the best finisher at the club.
lcfc_jme Posted 23 March 2011 Posted 23 March 2011 Dunno what you mean, Jamie, Kilworth is the best finisher at the club. If he'd played for us under Pearson, people might genuinely have believed that. I'd rather have Fryatt!!
Fox92 Posted 23 March 2011 Posted 23 March 2011 That number 14 at Liverpool (if he still plays for them) Jananovic. How the hell can he grace a Liverpool shirt? He's rubbish.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 23 March 2011 Posted 23 March 2011 I know, the most successful club in English football history
