Donut Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Seeing as the football league awards were held on sunday, and Adel Taarabt won the championship player of the year, With Connor Wickham winning the young player of the year. Entering the final quarter of the season, just wondered what you guys thought the best 11 from the championship have been this season? Assuming a 4 4 2 formation, i would pick:- Camp (Forest) Naughton (Leicester) Williams (Swansea) Hill (Qpr) McCartney (Leeds) Sinclair (Swansea) King (Leicester) Derry (Qpr) Taarabt (Qpr) Becchio (Leeds) Graham (Watford) Just wondered your thoughts
Callabinho Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Ive heard King wasn't in contention for either player of the year or young player of the year?? This true? Cannot believe whickam won it (Young)
Donut Posted 21 March 2011 Author Posted 21 March 2011 King wasnt in either award, player of the season was Taarabt, Sinclair or Graham, and young player of the year was Will Buckley (Watford) Henry Lansbury (Norwich) and Connor Wickham (Ipswich)
Bugg Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Will Buckley? I swear super_horns on here doesn't even rate him as their best young player.
shailen Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Kings been good but not as good as taarabt, sinclair or graham tbh. Also does king qualify for young award, if he does then i agree he should have made it instead of buckley or even lansbury!
Marcusplant2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Grant holt should be in for becchio apart from that spot on buddy.
cairnsy Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Gk: camp Rb: walker/Naughton Cb: Williams Cb: Hill Lb: McCartney Rm: sinclair Cm: hoolahan Cm: tarrabt Lm: whittingham St: Graham St: holt/Maynard
Bob Farley Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 maynard couldnt be in there, hes only just started playing again!
Bilbo Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 Just found out that Swansea got Sinclair for £500,000 - what a deal!
Ashley Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Camp Naughton Williams Bamba RangelPratley Hoolhan KingSinclair Miller Tarrabt There could be so many different combinations for the championships best XI.
Kierzz Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Hoolhan has got to be in it. He was class in both matches against Leicester Also Howson might be a good shout
Finnegan Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Agree with Haydos. Pains me to admit it but it would be harsh to leave Gradel out. Equally difficult is admitting Howson should probably be included somewhere, probably at the expense of Kingy. His goalscoring form started brilliantly, you can't deny that, but as we've come off the boil he's unfortunately been one of the main offenders. Shown massive signs of progress this season and let's hope he continues to improve, but he hasn't been our most consistent performer. Edit: Oh. But his goal against Leeds should definitely have made the short list for goal of the season, at least.
Guest ttfn Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Nobody here can possibly watch enough of the other Championship sides to have any proper idea of who should be in the first 11. All you can really go on is goals, snippets from the FLS and the weekly live game. What annoyed me about these awards is that the Young Player award is the "apprentice" award and yet Lansbury, who is on loan from a Prem club, was nominated.
Fox92 Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Players like Wes Hoolahan would be picked over King all day. Also, Paddy Kenny instead of Lee Camp although both are fantastic goalkeepers.
lcfc_jme Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Camp Rangel Bamba Hudson Naughton Pratley HowsonSinclair Taarabt GradelBecchio Subs: Kenny, Williams, Hill, Olofinjana, Hoolahan, King, Graham
David Guiza Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Kenny Naughton Williams Hill Rangel Sinclair Howson Taarabt Snodgrass Holt Graham Just seen a stat on twitter that Naughton has scored 5 goals from 7 shots this season, random fact for you.
ousefox Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Apparently Mccartney has been shite for Leeds, i'm guessing people have just put him in because he's on loan from a prem club and not because they've seen him play?
Donut Posted 22 March 2011 Author Posted 22 March 2011 I put McCartney in my team because all the Leeds games ive seen hes been very solid, and knowing lots of Leeds ST holders hes well liked up there. However his recent performances havent been good and he's got competition from a youngster now, Ben Parker.
Danno Posted 22 March 2011 Posted 22 March 2011 Camp Naughton Williams Bamba RangelPratley Hoolhan KingSinclair Miller Tarrabt There could be so many different combinations for the championships best XI. why the fook would you put Bamba in there

Think you'll find Rangel is a right-back. And how many goals has Miller scored this season, except the one against us? Can't believe Jay Bothroyd hasn't been mentioned - he has made the England team this season after all, still quite a rarity for a lower-league player.
