Bert Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 A Manchester City footballer has been jailed for a fight in the street which left a man with a broken jaw.Striker Kelvin Etuhu, 22, previously admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray. He was caught on CCTV kicking Owen Fitzpatrick three times after knocking him to the ground with a punch outside Manchester's 235 Casino last February. Etuhu, of Abbeycroft Close, Astley, Wigan, was sentenced to eight months in prison at Warrington Crown Court. In sentencing, Judge Hale told Etuhu: "You brought yourself up by your bootstraps, you and your family, having come here from Nigeria with nothing but your talent, grit and determination. "That is a great credit to you and your family and you have blown it." The footballer is the younger brother of Dickson Etuhu, who plays for Fulham. Single punch His brother was in the public gallery with their mother, another brother and relatives. Earlier, the court was told Etuhu had been released from his contract at Manchester City, in part due to the criminal proceedings. Peter Cadwallader, for the prosecution, told the court the violence started from a "very minor" dispute inside the casino which ended when Mr Fitzpatrick, 24, and two friends were asked to leave the venue. The three men then waited outside for Etuhu and his friend Rico Richards, 27, to emerge. The court heard the three men confronted Etuhu as he got into his BMW car, which Richards was driving. Etuhu finally got out of the car and launched the attack. The court heard how the player felled Mr Fitzpatrick with a single punch and, when he was on the ground, kicked him three times and inflicted the broken jaw.

Part Of The Crowd Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 While he obviously should't have done it, he landed four blows, just four, on some guys who'd harassed him until they were kicked out and then waited for him to come out to carry it on? As I said, shouldn't have reacted, but 8 months for 4 blows on some tossers baiting it seems a little harsh on a young lad.

Joeb.lcfc Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 he'll be a cov player in 8 months then thats if there is a cov in 8 months
Corky Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Missed an open goal against Bristol City. That's all I recall about his time at LCFC.
LCFCmatt Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 One of the worst players I've seen in a lcfc shirt. Hope he hurt his hand when he broke the guy's jaw. Tit.
Craig Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 not considering 3 of them was when he had knocked the man down with the first punch ...and kicking too, not punches; another aggravating factor. Plus a fairly serious injury in a broken jaw. Sentencing sounds about right to me.
ajthefox Posted 25 March 2011 Posted 25 March 2011 Got what he deserved. Although one-bombing a guy was a little stupid it's understandable. Going on to kick his face when he's on the floor is just being a thug.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 25 March 2011 Posted 25 March 2011 It's still 4 blows. If he'd been pushed over the edge into attacking someone then stopping at 4 quite an effort if you've been harassed up to the point you snap. Either way, shouldn't have reacted, he was at the car and leaving.
Joe. Posted 25 March 2011 Posted 25 March 2011 Won't forgive him for missing an unreal sitter against Bristol City at home in our relegation season. To this day I still have no idea how we didn't win that game.

m00nie Posted 25 March 2011 Posted 25 March 2011 looking at the cctv its more than what the story makes out.. hes not the only one fighting, his i assume friend knocks someone down first then booth them in the head, then he gets out the car and throws a lady to the ground, then starts fighting with the man.. (if the arrow is on the right person)
DB11 Posted 25 March 2011 Posted 25 March 2011 The guy was getting away as well. Thought Etuhu was supposed to be fast
