Should we follow Fayed's/Fulham's example and have a statue?

Simon De Montfort

William Wyggeston

Thomas White

Gabriel Newton

And they should all be arranged around the corners of a big tower with maybe a clock in the top.

Not up on my Simon De Montfort history but didn't he rise up against the King? Then end up being executed?

I am possibly wrong and thinking of someone else though. :/

He was leader of the barons who rose up against King Henry III, overthrowing him and becoming ruler of England for a little over a year. He was Earl of Leicester (though not sure he had much to do with us or ever came here). As a child I was taught that he was involved with the Magna Carta signing, but having checked a few things, he would have been only seven years old (though his father was also Simon De Monfort and Earl of Leicester :dunno: )

Would it not be easier and cheaper to steal another statue?

There's a statue of Ormondroyd in Cologne we could steal

There's also a similarity between Pearson and the redeemer from Rio De Janeiro

No, he's already got one of my several local pubs named after him.

Peter Taylor, which could come equipped with a target and a few air riffles. Could be come a real hit with the younger generation.

To be fair I would quite like to see a stone statue of davieG outside the Walkers :P Maybe in his speedos or something?

Arthur Chandler, clubs top goal scorer ever, its gotta be! he helped us get to the highest position ever in 1929, when we finished 2nd and were a point off winning the league.

How about a statue to the Star and Garter then?

Has to be either Linekar, Banks, Worthington etc

Chandler was great but no fans have a living memory of him, it was too long ago.

Don't see why that should matter.

He's a legend for the club. Doesn't mean he'll be/has been forgotten.

Whilst searching for pictures of funny statues to try to derail the thread with, I came across this - coolest thing I've seen in a while...

Keith Vaz?

If a statue of him was going to be at the Walker's, then it is very likely it'll get damaged in some sort of form.....................

That looks like the Head from Art Attack.

Thought there was a general talk within the city and also a petition on Facebook to get a Keith Weller one up? :S:dunno:
