City Palace post game

I'm almost looking forward to when it's mathematically impossible for us to make it, sad I know but i'm sick of getting my hopes up time and time again only for us to blow it.

We can still do it.

I'm at the bus-stop waiting for AOWW's optimistic bus.

I reckon lose v Reading and then win the rest and finish in 6th with 72 points, one point above Leeds in 7th.

Sorted.

What did Sven do?

We don't beat teams that close us down, at least Forest and Reading won't play that game.

If it's so glaringly obvious to us why can't SGE see whats happening and set the team up accordingly. He must've known that palace would scrap for a point away from home, surely

Remaining fixtures:

Forest

Norwich (A)

Leicester (H)

Bristol City (A)

Scunthorpe (H)

Palace (A)

Millwall

Coventry (A)

Preston (H)

Scunthorpe (A)

Swansea (H)

Barnsley (A)

Leeds

Watford (H)

Reading (H)

Palace (A)

Burnley (H)

QPR (A)

No doubt looking from those fixtures that teams around us WILL drop points, and Leeds in particular look vulnerable to falling away with their form deserting them just in time for some tough fixtures. Millwall's run-in is far kinder and with a point to make up on them already, we're realistically looking at winning an absolute minimum of four from our last five. Provided Forest don't shock Norwich at Carrow Road and Coventry can exploit Millwall's relative inconsistency away from The Den, even a defeat at Reading could be survivable. But we could not afford to drop a single point thereafter, not one. We've made it very difficult for ourselves tonight when Millwall and Leeds put out the red carpet for us.

Just the small matter of winning away at Forest required then? Only lost once there in God knows how many games. :ermm:

It's about time we turned such a statistic around. Other teams seem to be able to buck the stats when playing us.

I like your optimism, mine's shot at the moment. :(

Yet again it boils down to the crux of the matter, Sven simply is no motivator, how many more examples do we need, he cannot consistently rouse the players to play well week in week out. This will always be our undoing with Sven in charge. Get used to it.

I'd rather we didn't lose another game, if we could stop Reading's winning run on Saturday even with a draw it'd do wonders for confidence.

We need to get our heads down though and work hard for the last five, this is the time when we find out how far we are away from being a good side.

Feels like one of those bad dreams where, no matter how fast you run, you never quite get to where you need to be, or you can't quite escape the monster that's scaring you.

Wondered when you'd rear your ugly head, just need ibbosuk to pop in for some post match drivel to make the evening complete.

Just don't get it. Weale was 100% at fault for that goal, but got a round of applause and "Weuuul!" Imagine Ricardo doing that, Christ he'd be crucified.

If we're scapegoating, Weale cost us 2 points, for the second time in a week he conceded a goal that I could have bloody saved.

Yes I'm annoyed.

When the team is on form, loan signings can be carried on the crest of a wave. But once the team really has to dig deep, when things get tough and we have to battle for something, loan signings just have not got that same commitment for the cause - understandably, they are not playing for next season.

Watching the City has been so frustrating at times because whilst Sven has managed to bring talented players to the Club, some of the performances just reflect the fact that playing for the club is not the same as belonging to the club.

Don't get me wrong, Sven has saved our season from a relegation battle, so we could be facing other frustrations right now. But we have had so many teams gift us results of late. Sven has had the chance to get the team into the play-offs this time of asking - and the owners will be aware of that.

Sven (if he is still here) has to make his connections and reputation count in the pre-season by making quality players belong to our Club. Otherwise, the Sven band wagon will be remembered in times to come as nothing more than a foot note in his Rock and Roll side show.

As I said, without Sven, we would be at the other end - but anyone watching City over the past three months knows that a top 6 finish was ours and we have gifted it away with complacency and expensive has beens (Yaks and Portuguese glove wearers).

One more point, if Bruma has got it in his contract that he has to play if he is fit (or not banned) then the Club has allowed agents to dictate footballing issues that should remain solely the reserve of the manager. A disgrace! And I wonder why the others feel they have to earn their place with that going on. Imagine that happening in Sales contracts. I knock on your door or ring your phone and you have to buy - no questions asked. Not even ****ing Vodaphone are that scandalous.

Up the City!

What was that about

4 points off play-offs, It wasn't a good performance against a pretty negative and dis-jointed palace side. Frustrating, now we have to beat READING

Very bizarre... I said on Sat that that was one of the best performances I had seen from a City side at the Walkers.

To go from such sublimity to such dross within three days is inexplicable.

The reports on Kamara blowing hot and cold have been correct as he looked like a completely different player tonight compared to the Burnley game, I still think Vassell's gotta be played down the centre, and fat Yakubu dropped. Whatever we are paying for him, its too much
