Matt Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 its not obvious - yes Ricardo being blamed for all isnt fair, but why the 'foreigness' comment? Isnt Bamba foreign? or Yakubu? or PVA? Exactly why I commented with Grow Up. Why bring a race issue into it. Oh I remember I must like/cannot slag off anyone that isn't English
Leicester_Loyal Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 oh for ****'s sake, look at the bigger picture and not just one game... Yes, Oakley was Citys MOTM tonight, but he has been consistently poor for the past two seasons. I was surprised Sven offered him a further season, and still am I've been looking at the picture for a whole season now, and Weale is shit. Ricardo can't even make one bad kick without being slaughtered, yet Weale lets in goals that my grandma could save and is still bummed off for it. Sorry mate, but I trust Svens judgement on a player much more than you.
The Doctor Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 its not obvious - yes Ricardo being blamed for all isnt fair, but why the 'foreigness' comment? Isnt Bamba foreign? or Yakubu? or PVA? because 21st century fox believes that the ricardo hatred stemmed from xenophobia?
Guest bennytwohats Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 its not obvious - yes Ricardo being blamed for all isnt fair, but why the 'foreigness' comment? Isnt Bamba foreign? or Yakubu? or PVA? Ricardo has history with ingurland though doesn't he? I bet some people hated him before he even started, i've heard a fair few racist remarks thrown at him in the stands. The extent of the overreaction towards him points to there being something else behind it.
leicesterseddon Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Worst player tonight for me was King. I mean the thing is, I usually come away from the ground moaning 'I can't remember this player or that player doing anything tonight', etc. And most of the time I know I don't mean it, that there was some contribution there. But tonight, I mean it absolutely fully and quite literally. I watched 95 minutes of football tonight, and I can't remember him doing anything at all. AT ALL. Truth is, even when he was scoring goals, he was a bit of a passenger in the team. Now that his goals have dried up, I cannot see what he bring. No passes. No tackling. When Wellens moved deep in the second half to take control of the ball, he sauntered on in his usual manner, in a way that looked like he was actively trying to avoid getting the ball. And all this from a supposed big player in the team. To be honest, he just doesn't look bothered at all. A talented footballer no doubt with potential, but I just can't see the point sticking with him if he's going to put in performances like he has done for the last month.
MC Prussian Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Should've known better. Crystal Palace are desperate to stay in this league and need all the points they can get. Disappointed to see Sven not reacting earlier with changing his system and/or substituting one or two players to break down a highly resilient Palace defense. They played well, had a gameplan and nullified pretty much every single attacking attempt in the first half with a stifling 4-6-0, Megson-style. They were excellent at closing down our strikers and midfielders, it was very hard to move through that web. Yakubu and Kamara had their own personal issues with making anything happen up front. Gallagher's long balls were all so off today and he clearly had his one and only off-day this season. So he is forgiven. You can put some blame on the referee who could've given us a penalty but in the end, we were lucky to get a draw out of this. What was it with Weale and shots from distance again??? Where are all the Ricardo haters now? One shot on goal and how bad Weale looked like - was there a deflection or none? Central midfield aside, the goalkeeper situation is one of the main priorities we need to address in the upcoming off-season this summer. King ought to be rested, his form's way off at the moment and had no positive impulse on the game moving forward today. On the other hand, Oakley's surprised me with his tackling/battling skills as of recent and who would've thought he'd score again? Five very important games coming up now. Play for five wins, can't depend on other teams helping us out. I'd say the race for sixth place is still very open and we still have a chance of sneaking into the playoffs with the way the other teams above and around us are/have been playing lately. The top five spots are out of reach - for more or less obvious reasons. But that's about the only positive out of this latest home "performance". EDIT: I forgot about the "highlights" on them LED screens at half-time - a plethora of ugly corners, missed shots, etc. And to top it all, they even managed to not show the Palace goal...
Bert Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Am I the only person that didn't think Yakubu was lazy? Palace fans weren't Impressed with the fosse boys. They were singing "foss-e boys, what a joke".

Thought he started the game fine, perhaps he was just fatigued as the game went on which came over (in mine and obviously others opinions) as looking lazy. Alot of players become fatigued towards the end of games but don't give the laziness impression, he did/does.
Guest bennytwohats Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Am I the only person that didn't think Yakubu was lazy? I can see why he has been criticised for that in the past but i thought he contributed more tonight in terms of working for the team than i've seen from him in a city shirt. He was tracking back loads and putting in some proper tackles, he seemed to chase down everything you could expect him too. I don't get it at all, another player who seems to get massively unfair stick imo. At times it has been frustrating but some people can't seem to understand that not every football plays like Carlos Tevez For the most part i've been impressed with him in a city shirt, i think much of it is to do with the movement around him and playing him in the right system - his interaction with Kamara on saturday seemed spot on i think largely due to Kamara's movement that didn't seem to be there as much tonight, not through a lack of trying it would seem - i just don't think there was any space for either of them.
ScouseFox Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Had no problems with Yakubu tonight (apart from missing from a yard). One point first half he chased down a defender put in a good challenge, got hauled down and was penalised. If that's what's gonna happen I can see why he doesn't bother!
lcfcsnow Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Am I the only person that didn't think Yakubu was lazy? I thought he was putting more effort in than usual, especially harrying defending which I hadn't seen him do much.
MC Prussian Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 It's obvious it was Ricardo's fault, his foreignness from the bench put Weale off which lead to the goal.
Legend_in_blue Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Yet again a tin-pot mentality shown by a tin-pot football club and they come here with tin-pot tactics and we can't seem to better that. I've had enough of the negative attitude shown by the tin-pot clubs in the lower half of this league. It felt like playing against 12 men behind the ball at times, the referee getting in the way on occasions. It is so frustrating. So so frustrating!!! Playing Reading and Forest next will suit us. Watford and Ipswich at home also try to play football. Hopefully we can still see this through to 6th but tin-pot football teams are making this difficult. We need a way of playing against such a negative approach.

Parafox Posted 12 April 2011 Author Posted 12 April 2011 Trying to think... have we won 5 consecutive games this season?

I am Rod Hull Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 We just aint good enough.. lets all live with it.......................................................
accessory Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Our season was effectively killed off tonight. The funeral will take place at 3pm on Saturday at Sugardaddy Stadium. This was the Coventry game revisited - behind to a goalkeeping blunder (not quite as shocking as Ricardo's, but still poor), fighting back to level and then not findiing enough to win it. As in that game, the sending-off happened too late to really help us. Palace got their tactics spot-on tonight - hacking and spoiling at every opportunity. Sven should have been around long enough by now to work out a way of dealing with that. He clearly hasn't though... The happy clappies can't blame a record of 5 points from the last 5 home games on Sousa.
Number 6 Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Trying to think... have we won 5 consecutive games this season? Won the last 5 of last season? Just need to repeat that!
richardsfoxes Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Why cant leeds just win and put us out of our misery, jesus christ. Atleast next game will seal the season off.
themotivator Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Trying to think... have we won 5 consecutive games this season? naaaht yeeeeeeeet
ozleicester Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Mee was super tonight, Oakley also had a good game, I thought Yak did ok. PVA ran his legs off and was excellent VERY disapointed in KIngy. Also we need to come up with someone who will run at and take on defenders from outside the box, when playing against teams like Palace tonight, (as was obvious) they are going to be very difficult to crack with passing as they load up the back... but, with 3 premiership strikers in our side, surely we have someone capable of taking a player on and beating him... perhaps give Lloyd a run earlier, at least he will try and cut the defence.

Yep, youve had enough of the teams who are tactically aware enough to find a way to take points off us and play in such a way that makes it difficult for us instead on naive attacking tactics and getting stuffed 4-0. God id love to be an opposing manager against a team managed by you. .Why oh why cant everyone just roll over and let us win? We were absolutely crap tonight all over the pitch and never at any point tried to do anything different to break palace down. All credit to them, was a job well done. We were shite.

MC Prussian Posted 12 April 2011 Posted 12 April 2011 Senseless drivel. Too good I have you on ignore. I wouldn't want to cross the street with you. "Our season was killed off tonight"? There's still a playoff place to fight for! But you don't want to see that and that's why you don't talk about the bright sides in football, right? You just slag off for the sake of it, admit it. Forever the pessimist. What a tool.
