topharry123 Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Our 4 games - Forest, Watford, Doncaster, Ipswich. If we won all 4, we'd be on 72 points. The other teams that can finish 6th have the following games. Leeds - Reading (H), Palace (A), Burnely (H), QPR (A). They would need 8 points to guarantee finishing above us. I don't think they'll get this with Reading and QPR to play. Forest - Us(H), Bristol City (A), S****horpe (H), Palace (A). Can they pick up 9 points after losing to us? They're the most dangerous threat but the from they're in they'll drop points. Hull - Middelsborough (H), QPR (A), Palace (H), Bristol City (A). They would need 9. I think they'll get 7. Millwall - Preston (H), S****horpe (A), Swansea (H), Barnsley (A) - They would need 11 points. Can't see it. Watford - Barnsley (H), Us (A), QPR (H), Preston (A). If they lose to us the rest of their results make no difference. Conclusion? Even after todays game, I think if we win out we'll sneak into 6th spot. However, I can't see us winning all 4 of our remaining games. While it's still mathematically possible we have to get behind our team and believe we can do it, regardless of the likelihood of it.
sdb Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 It's over. Please let it rest people! Even if we had more points, our form is so inconsistent, and our back line so shambolic, that it wouldn't happen even then. Sorry to be the voice of reason but it aint gonna happen.
ousefox Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Ever since losing to Norwich, it has been over really.
whitlock Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 We dont deserve to be in the playoffs, end of. We've had too many opportuinities to move into the playoffs and we've ****ed it up every single time! Its getting quite tedious everytime we lose saying how its still mathmatically possible, which in fair it is. But its mathmatically possible that i'll win 16million on the lottery tonight, in reality i wont and leicester wont get into the playoffs.

Guest parky0607 Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 We're missing a spark which we had last season to keep us in the race
topharry123 Posted 16 April 2011 Author Posted 16 April 2011 Ever since Greece won Euro 2004 at odds of 125-1, i'll remain optimistic that it can still be done. Unlikey? Of course. Possible? Of course. We're not the only team in bad form pushing for 6th. Someone has to do it. When it's over it's over. When it's nearly over it can still be done.
topharry123 Posted 16 April 2011 Author Posted 16 April 2011 Sick of these threads. Why? I'm sick of the threads that have been saying we've been out of it for two months. We all support the same team, and this thread is merely stating the possibilites. You show any of us optimists that this season is 100% over and that we'll be 100% in the championship next season then these threads will stop. Until then, our position should be analyzed by the fans and we should be keeping a careful eye not only on ourselves but on what is going on around us. If you're sure the season is over then don't bother reading these threads.

Good positive post! Its going to be incredibly difficult but I agree with someone's comment that said 1 game at a time. If we beat Forest, I'll say we have a chance of going for the 4 wins on the bounce, if we do get these 12 points we will be in 6th place. Lets beat Forest 1st! Its incredible we still have a chance!!! I wish Watford had beaten Leeds today! Anyhow, win against Forest and take it from there..
Dylan Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Your missing Burnley from the list... same points as us with a game in hand.
Guest Bilo Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 I expected to lose today, but I also hoped that Millwall and Forest would lose, and that Leeds would fail to beat Watford. All of those things have happened. Leeds have now to face a resurgent Reading while having something of a wobble of their own, have to go to Palace who are scrapping for every point and finish off with QPR away. They will drop points, no question. Millwall are also playing teams scrapping against relegation, as well as a Swansea side that still has a faint chance of automatic and will want to secure their own play-off spot. Points to be dropped there. Which leaves Forest and Hull. The former are having a major wobble, 1 win in 10 and almost as poor against fellow play-off chasers as we have been of late. Their paper thin squad is a cause for concern among their fans and this has been exacerbated by the sending off of Konchesky last night, leaving them minus a left-back. A lot of their fans are already preparing for the summer. Which leaves Hull. On something of a bounce and could very well sneak in there. They too though have to go to QPR before the season's out and their home form is nothing like as good as their away form with only 6 wins, only one more than Scunthorpe and Preston and the same as bottom of the table Sheffield United. Teams around us WILL drop points. It's up to us to capitalise and now only four wins will do. Forest away is now massive, bigger than it has been for years. Win there, and it could look like a very Good Friday indeed.

topharry123 Posted 16 April 2011 Author Posted 16 April 2011 Good point, well made, but we still don't deserve a play-off place. You know I agree based on recent form. My view though is that the team in 6th at the end of the season deserves to be there. If it's us then we have earned it, regardless of recent form. If we're not in 6th and in the play offs we don't deserve it. after 46 games, the table never lies. Every team has earned their spot.
Ashley Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 I've always remained optimistic, however its gone for me. IF, IF, IF we did reach the play-offs then it'd be great. From where we were when Sven took over to now is some achivement. Col City Fan - Yakubu is not fat. I'd put all the money I had that he has a bigger muscle to fat percentage!
Walkers Wench Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 I AM A BELIEVER.. so am i,,but im finding it hard to cope with the hope!
lestajigs Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 I just hope it ain't forest who end our little hope off the play offs, that ain't worth thinking about!!!
Fox92 Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 If we beat Forest and Reading beat Leeds (both of which are possible), then we'll be two points off of Leeds/6th place. Then, the next day. Hull play Middlesbrough at the KC Stadium. Even though they are 10 points clear, Middlesbrough will be looking for points and Hull arn't that good at home. Millwall entertain Preston at home. Preston are on a good run of form, who knows. So, this time next week we could be just two points off of 6th. Therefore, it is not over yet.
