Haydos Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 This news does not suprise me. I thought we would probably go for him if we didn't go up. He was a hand full at the Walkers and no doubt Sven was impressed. He will be a much cheaper option than The Yak. he's on a free and I don't think his wages will be too high. On the moral side of things I'm not too fussed, if we only sign players who are morally sound we could struggle to get a team out. There are no morals in football. Morally unsound, fair enough? Criminal, no.
Christoph Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 If he scores goals I dont care if hes raping the queen.
tomtom Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Stan Collymore anyone?? He struck Ulrika AFTER his time at Leicester and has on many occasions said how much he regrets his actions and apologized....marlon king has never apologized and still in fact denies any wrong doing
Stevosevic Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Stan Collymore anyone?? Good point, he battered Ulrika didn't he?
Sparky Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 He struck Ulrika AFTER his time at Leicester and has on many occasions said how much he regrets his actions and apologized....marlon king has never apologized and still in fact denies any wrong doing Not according to my memory, he attacked her during the 98 World Cup. We signed him in 2000
tomtom Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Not according to my memory, he attacked her during the 98 World Cup. We signed him in 2000 My mistake then , but the rest stands

artursteppe Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 He struck Ulrika AFTER his time at Leicester and has on many occasions said how much he regrets his actions and apologized....marlon king has never apologized and still in fact denies any wrong doing I wasn't there, so I am not in a position to comment on whether he should admit any guilt, or apologise, or not.
Babylon Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I'd rather judge someone on the person they are now and not what they were. If I was manager I would meet him in person and see what I thought of him, plus make sure the contract is right. Any trouble and you are out on your ear.

That's the obvious sensible point of view which I wouldn't be surprised to see taken but it doesn't change my view as a fan. Granted I don't know him but I've formed an opinion (correct or not) of him based on pretty solid evidence. That's my qualm.
Brown Fox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 He struck Ulrika AFTER his time at Leicester and has on many occasions said how much he regrets his actions and apologized....marlon king has never apologized and still in fact denies any wrong doing He beat her up in 1998. The opinions are different because King served time in jail. Also King did apologise profusely on a radio show with his wife present. His temperament this season has actually been very good after being abused by nigh on everyone he seems to ignore it all and has scored 13 goals. Although saying this I still don't know what my feelings would be if he signed for us. He is no doubt quality but he is a twat. Would bet loads that if he came and scored goals for us a lot of people would change their opinion.
The Doctor Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 It's a moral dilemma, which I had with Neil Warnock a few years ago. I can't help wonder though whether cutting your nose off to spite your face as a football fan is wise. It's bad enough as it is following a team like Leicester. I'd be more than happy to see that Westwood down here if nothing else. westwood yes but he isn't an absolute scum-bag like marlon king We would have 3 Kings though (Andy, Craig and Marlon). Just a shame none of them came from the orient then (although our owners did).

Nothing wrong with that point of view, I don't think there is a correct or a not correct.
Finnegan Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 We three Kings of orient club, One done for slapping a bird in the pub.
The Doctor Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 come to think of it, is craig king still even at the club?
Ambitious Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I hope not 1. He's too old. 2. He's at Coventry. 3. We can get a lot younger and better like this man >>>>
hackneyfox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I wasn't there, so I am not in a position to comment on whether he should admit any guilt, or apologise, or not. A jury found him guilty, that's enough for me. And a judge decided that he shouldn't be given leave to appeal as the case was so water tight. More than enough for me.
Ozwin Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 There are some players you just don't want at your club.

If I was manager I would meet him in person and see what I thought of him, plus make sure the contract is right. Any trouble and you are out on your ear. I don't want him representing our club, he has made a career out of breaking the law. He's done time for stolen cars. He's done time for assault both violent and sexual. he was found guilty of chasing2 women with a belt wrapped around his fist. He has 14 convictions to his name. He tried to appeal against his last conviction and the judge wouldn't allow the appeal to go ahead. He has at no time admitted that he was at fault. There is no excuse for signing this piece of scum, and plenty of co* fans chose not to go while he ha been playing for them.
hackneyfox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 He beat her up in 1998. The opinions are different because King served time in jail. Also King did apologise profusely on a radio show with his wife present. Not to the victim he didn't. Up to the point when his chance for an appeal was denied he was still claiming it was mistaken identity (or playing the race card), he has not spoken about it since.

So a man has 14 convictions.. like already said some for violent sexual crimes and yet he will turn on the smiles and handshakes for a couple of hours for a meeting with Sven and thats it, all forgotten he's a nice bloke again lets sign him... Anyone can turn on the smiles for a two hour meeting. that is not a good indication of how nice a person is at all... Jesus....
artursteppe Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I do think people are getting too irate over someone who would be a footballer on the pitch, not someone who is being forced into your home for Sunday tea. Now 'calm down, calm down'.
