Babylon Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Sorry Babs mate but you're on to a loser. Strikes me that you wanted to defend him over the well known offence, realised there's 13 others and now just don't want to be seen to be changing your tune. I mean fair enough mate, I commend your open mindedness - seriously - but King is a complete weapon and a persistent repeat offender with no respect for women or the law. I would be very sad if we had him represent our club. I would be proud of our fans and owners if we gave a struggling ex-con with earnest intentions a chance to redeem himself, but King has had chance after chance and has disgraced himself repeatedly. Avoid. Not at all, I was well aware of his other offences except he one with the belt. I've not defended his other offences, purely pointing out that one of the offences people were highlighting quite a lot was a groping of a womans bum. In my mind him being a "sex offender" guilty of "sex crimes" and "sexual assault" etc are very strong words when for something like that, the law says that's what it is but in my mind it's over the top. Purely my opinion on that law. I've not said I want him here, closest I came was saying "I could just about live with it if he bangs in 20 goals and gets us up". If he was the best we can afford then it might be worth talking to the guy about his past etc as i've mentioned previously. I think we'll have bigger fish to fry though.

ajthefox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I don't want us to sign him but I wouldn't be too bothered if we did. I can't really see it happening though, as others have said I think Sven's targets will be higher than a decent championship striker who has such criminal history as does king.
ScouseFox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Anyone who wouldn't take him on footballing grounds is kidding themselves because he plays for Coventry. He's the best striker I've seen play against us this season, and he's almost 1 in 2 for a horrendously shit Cov team. He's a Premier League player, but nobody wanted him due to his personal life, which is fully understandable. I'd rather we steered clear, but if he's done his time and impresses Sven, I wouldn't complain, but I wouldn't be over the moon.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I honestly would never support him as a Leicester player if he moved here.
ozleicester Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Dont like what he has done in the past, absolute coont. But, done the crime, done the time. How many people here who are refusing to have him continue his career, have broken a law but can still go to work every day. ever been arrested for public drunkeness?, speeding? fighting?, been kicked out of a ground? Yes, all way less nasty than what he did... but he served the time and has to be allowed to apologise and move forward.
Mack Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Bottom line, in the Championship he is a potent force, and is free. I want Leicester up next season, and if he can help then I couldn't give a monkeys about his past.
Stevosevic Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/coventry-city-fc/coventry-city-fc-news/2011/04/28/marlon-king-yet-to-receive-contract-offer-from-coventry-city-says-agent-92746-28597982/ Marlon King yet to receive contract offer from Coventry City, says agent STAR striker Marlon King is still hoping to be offered a new Coventry City deal – but his agent is already looking at other options as his contract has just nine weeks to run. Saturday’s match against play-off chasing Reading could be the last time the club’s leading scorer pulls on the Sky Blue shirt on home soil – along with goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and midfielder Aron Gunnarsson, who are also out of contract at the end of the season – making for an emotional farewell in front of a bumper crowd at the Ricoh Arena. But if, as expected, Andy Thorn is given the full-time manager’s post this week, new offers are likely to be made to all three in a last-ditch bid to keep them at the club. Speaking on behalf of King, the 13-goal leading scorer’s agent Tony Finnigan revealed: “I can confirm that Marlon hasn’t had a firm offer in writing yet but I am told a deal is imminent. “He wants to know and sooner rather than later because his contract runs out on the 30th of June when he will be unemployed. "It is my responsibility to find him employment and, as we speak, I am actively seeking another club for Marlon. "But I am told Coventry are working on it and I am optimistic they will come to us by the end of the week. "The guy has done an excellent job for the club, done the business on the field and he will guarantee them 20 goals in a full season. “Coventry have got some good players there and Andy Thorn is doing a great job in getting them playing and has proved what the squad is capable of. And in Marlon King Coventry have got one hell of a player but we need to see something.” King’s outstanding strike rate of six goals in five games in recent weeks or 11 in 12 starts since late January has alerted a number of clubs including the likes of Cardiff – who tried to get him on loan recently – Midland rivals Leicester and at least one Premier League club that has expressed an interest in his services next season. artursteppe Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Sven has a track record of past offenders at his club. Lee Hughes, who is still at Notts County.

Some people that have had a strong opinion on here have probably been guilty of 'groping' a woman on a night out at one point or another and would also be classed as 'sex offenders' by the law.. Back to the topic though he did his time and he hasn't been in any trouble since. He's free, he's good in this division and as a professional on a free transfer we couldn't do much better. As stated before he won't be my favorite player, i won't sing his name but he comes here as a professional and if he acts like one and does his job well then fair enough.
acooling08 Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 So what did he actually do? Raping and punching women is terrible = Avoid. Slapping a girl on the arse and hitting a woman in self defence sounds a lot less bad = Sign him up.

If 'self defense' means punching her in the face and breaking her nose because she rejected his advances. I may be wrong, but wasnt it on a night out celebrating his wifes pregnancy aswell? Top bloke. Or was that post a wind up, hope ive not falled for it
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Is it bad of me to not really care if he bangs a City shirt on and starts scoring? I know it is, and I'd rather not see him signed up, but I'm not 100% against the idea, unfortunately. He's a good player at this standard.

Agreed, What he did was bad but its not like hes a serial killer.

Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 nobody would have turned down tony adams, george best and duncan ferguson & joey barton in their prime and they've all been to jail.
nothin2seehere Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 He's done the time that was decided by judge and jury to pay for his misdemeanours. Raping a girl? He can **** off. But if "all" he did was to feel a girl's bum and punch her...well, I can't say I've ever punched a girl (or a bloke for that matter!) but I'd sure as hell hope I could be forgiven for it and move on with my life. There's a bunch of posters here who make me think they'd like the guy put in solitary until he dies. A bit quick to judge. Would I /want/ him at Leicester? Probably not, in all fairness. Would I support him if he put on a City shirt? Hell yes.
Guest shearfox Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 Done his time, he scores goals that is all that matters.
