Nicky Maynard

Why would Nicky hand in a transfer request just because you've offered? No I don't believe City are bigger than you. It's obvious you have Sven, a bigger fan base and some very rich owners which is fair enough. However a move to any other team in the Championship in most cases is a sideways step, as at the end of the day most teams have a good chance of challenging.

I'm not saying Nicky won't end up with you guys but I just can't see him handing in a transfer request simply because you've put an offer in for him.

if maynard wanted to leave he would of handed a transfer request in when the first bid was rejected,

Unless you meet our asking price he's going nowhere we don't need the money

Would of been a bit hard considering he was on holiday at that time.

Three bids made will show Maynard that we REALLY want him. Combine that with the fact we're offering generous wages and are looking every inch promotion contenders to the pundits and other clubs, he may start getting itchy feet.

or show that we were cheapskates with the original offer and havent increased it by much each time..

If Sven feels Maynard is essential to getting promotion this year then I have no doubt the owners will put up the money. Bcfc, understandably will want to keep him or get as much as they can for him.

£5m up front and and perhaps extra if we're promoted would be a very tempting offer for them!

I really do hope Sven has other targets in mind and we don't have all our eggs in this basket!

Have a feeling this could get interesting over the next few days, its not like Fifa where 3 bids and you're done. I reckon Bristol are holding out for £5million, and I predict the story will go something like this....

"Bristol City regret to announce that we have had to accept a bid table by another Championship club for Nicky Maynard. Despite our efforts to keep Nicky, it has become clear that he wants to further his career elsewhere. Etc...etc...etc"

Paraphrased to "Look, we rejected 3 bids and sold him for £5million, isn't out fault he wanted to go, blame him, not us"

Meanwhile rubbing their hands together at the sight of all that cash.

I'd be inclined to agree with you but likewise if Maynard wasn't interested in joining us then i'm sure his agent would have made Sven aware of this. Your agent might well be using us to get Nicky a big pay rise with yourselves in the hope he'll move to a Premiership club in a year or so or he knows that we'll pay him just as much as anyone in the top flight will and he'll take a nice cut of that. This will rumble on.

Hmmmm, I believe if you hand in a transfer request you wave your right to a % of the transfer fee.

Lets not kid ourselves! Nicky Maynard will do whats best for Nicky Maynard. A prem move is unrealistic at this moment in time as last seasons injury will not add any confidence to a potential buyer. Also Clubs will only have to wait 12 months to sign him without a transfer fee, all be it on higher wages, but thats NM's right.

The only reason he would have to move from Bristol, is if he thought that LCFC or whoever, would be a better opition for Prem football (assuming he is that ambitious) or a club says that they will match a wage which he would get once he becomes a free agent.

Realisticly, although we want NM, it's looking like desperate business by LCFC as we could pick up a very good striker for £3M who should be able to score 15+ goals a season. Who are the other targets? SUrely our list of targets goes past NM, Yak & CMS? I hope so

maynard doesnt want to go to you lot, if he did he would of handed in a transfer request when you first bid, besides its a step sideways at best, lets not forget you were only an average league one team not so long ago! you now have a failed england manager in charge and now your worldbeaters! if he was to go and at it was to the east midlands then coventry would be a better bet for him, much nicer city, stadium is 10x better than yours and the fan base potential is more significant than yours

out of intrest what would you pay him as we've offered 25k a week with a 10k goal bonus

Posted

He'll be ours once we offer about £3.75 million - £4 million.

They want £5 million plus, and it looks like they're holding out for it.

Maynard doesn't want to join another Championship club. I think the most likely ending to this whole saga is that he'll stay for another year and then head off to the Premier League. There are so many ways this could end though, I can't wait until it's done and dusted.

How do you know this mate? There's plenty of rumours going around so I wouldn't trust everything you hear.

If we put in a bid off 4 million, they would Surely except it, considering he could leave for NOTHING in 12 months!!

you don't know our chairman or owner then as they would let him run his contract out like I said we don't need the money

incorrect. we pissed league one and it is in no way a sideways step. we have englands most successful manager of recent years and even coventry would probably a step up for him. i'm guessing you've never been to cov if you think they have a bigger fan base.

It's true. Not sure about the goal bonus part, but it's pretty much doubling his money what Bristol City have offered.

Fair enough but we're offering a CENTRE BACK 25k per week so don't think you'll be able to price us out. We'll see, if he accepts your offer then so be it.

You have obviously never been or let alone seen them play or their attendances.
