Blanesta Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 In any case, after suffering through the humiliation that was last years Pratley and Whittingham debacle ( Mark Arthur coming out and saying both players wanted to come to Forest and will be here lickety split as they're contracts are running out) I'm fairly certain unless someone pays over the odds Maynard will stay where he is confident that because he's so great Man U will snap him up for free next year. Well Man U do have those nice car seats for a bench, that should suit the BC fans down to the ground plus that's the only step up from them.
RedHux Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I agree with this, but it didn't stop CMS. They both will most probably be marked out of most games next season. It will open up the defence for others, but if they havent got the class it will not help. You have to wonder what the deciding factor is for a player. Immediate financial return, possible career advancement, being treated like a king by one suitor whilst the other can't be arsed to get off the beach to meet you? If it was me I'd happily take a similar pay deal but much better prospects for advancement cos you have to back your ability.
kingfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Why don't every single season ticket holder send him a bottle of wine and a box of milk tray cadbury's chocolates, then im sure he will come. Being realistic we can't die down on this, Maynard needs to come and come soon him along with Mills are the two targets we so desperetely need.

Yes, but he'll lose all his pace, and become another Kevin Pressman ... up front! Which is no good to anyone.
kingfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Doubt Bamba will go. Suppose, maybe he can keep them then give them all to Yakubu.
Dan Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Without sounding ignorant, has anything actually happened tonight? I've seen the debate has heated up but not aware of anything happening? Cheers.
STUHILL Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Without sounding ignorant, has anything actually happened tonight? I've seen the debate has heated up but not aware of anything happening? Cheers. Nothing has happened for ages to be fair! Think we just closing in on other deals so people thinking could be movement on this one too.
kingfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Everything has happened. Yakubu stole Maynard's cadbury milk tray chocolates. Lee Hoos is buried under the King Power Stadium Turf. Josh Low is coming back. Sven has been sacked, and Dave Bassett with Junior Lewis as assistant has been put in immediate charge. Also Kasper has left and we have re signed Mark Wallington. All updated for you

Fair enough, just seen the discussion's hitting a bit of a high so wondered if there'd been any development. I don't think it'll happen, but I still laugh off the fact "they'd only sell to a Prem club", if us and Blackburn offered £6mil each, they'd accept both, like fvck would they reject ours and accept Blackburn's.

Got bit heated because lots of Bristol fans were posting. One dissed Top!!! <_<
PeterTaylorsApprentice Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I'd pay the 5 million they're after, saying that it's not my money. come on :sge: persuade Top to pay the money with your yellow teeth.
Wymsey Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Sven needs to admit he's wasting his time here if it's true Maynard stated he'd only leave to play in the top flight. This is dragging on too far. There's other out there that could do a good job on par with Maynard but more cheaply viable such as Jason Scotland, Kris Boyd, Billy Sharp and Jay Rodriguez for example.
kingfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Jay Rodriguez recently signed a new contract with Burnley. Billy Sharp is a possiblity though, due to my blogging website and information I sometimes get

Positive to signing Maynard would be his potential to step up to the Prem. I think thats what you are paying the extra millions for. These guys you listed I very much doubt would be capable.
thybluefox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Crikey I go away for one evening and look what happens. Bert, our trusted insider has said they're after £5million for him. As has been raised a few pages back, why would Bristol tell us that if he was unequivocally not for sale? Simply, they wouldn't. If we stumped up £4million with some add-ons to take it up to £5mil then they'd have a long hard think about it. To all the Bristol fans saying "he's verbally confirmed a contract, etc etc". To put it bluntly that means absolute balls. Marlon King was about to sign a new contract, CMS/Curtis Davies were as good as ours, but they all ended up going somewhere else. He may well end up staying with you, but I wouldn't be so sure quite yet. Had to laugh at the comments about the Brizzle owners, he can be worth any magical number in the world but if he won't spend it, it means nothing!! The way you all talk makes it sound like you're spending this summer is matching the likes of ourselves (although we've still only spend £3million or so), West Ham or Brighton. Also, one last point before I giggle off to bed, it seems like we're a club that are prepared to pay £4million for one of the best cb's in the league, spending roughly the same on arguably one of the best forwards in the league shouldn't come as a shock to anyone.
Blanesta Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I'd pay the 5 million they're after, saying that it's not my money. come on :sge: persuade Top to pay the money with your yellow teeth. It would be money loaned to the club by our owners, so its wise not to be pushed around by other clubs and agents, we don't want a massive mess if we don't get promotion. We should pay what he's worth, or look elsewhere. The last 5 million player/hotshot from the championship didn't work for us Akinbiyi's stock continued to rise and after scoring 21 goals for Bristol City in the 98/99 season. one season with 20+ in the champ doesn't means he's worth 5 mill

Sharp is maybe the the only better than what we have in my opinion. The Korean guy would be a far better option and would propbably be a revenue raiser for the club in Asia.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I think blanestas made the best point but seems to have gone un noticed. Keep yer feet on the ground folks

FoxyPalace.com Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Brizzle fan in peace. I spoke to Nicky the other day, im afraid the only way he is leaving us is for the prem. He does not want to go to another championship side, not worth the upheaval. Also i dont think you realise our owner is a bristolian billionaire who is also a life long fan of the club, who has said "he will not sell to another championship team even if Nicky does not sign" Look Bristol City fans, we all know that you are messing your tenna men discreet nappies about this deal, We are taking your best player I can understand you being a little annoyed, But at the end of the day our club is so much BIGGER than yours. We have AMBITION, reasonable amount of MONEY, great MODERN stadium, WORLD class manager, far BIGGER fan base. I think you should just give this one up, its dog it dog and im afraid you are a Yorkshire terrier in this league. I for one cant wait to see Maynard in a LCFC shirt for the forth coming Real Madrid match. END OF
MikeyT Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Who's been on Wiki? That's a bitch of a commute everyday for training.
Simmo86 Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 That article makes me laugh. City chiefs have refused to put a price on Maynards head......but we've been told 5 million?
