paddy Agyemang Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Robert Earnshaw is set to join Cardiff on a free transfer, i think we should try our luck with Earnshaw despite he is 30, he is quality and we could get Maynard or Yak aswell
One Arm Babba Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 That article makes me laugh. City chiefs have refused to put a price on Maynards head......but we've been told 5 million? The funniest thing for me is that £5 million is hardly a figure that would scare you off completely. If they didn't want to sell they would have said 10,20 or 50 million. They want 5 but will take below.... Just watch and see. ;-)
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I reckon they would except 4mil don't you mean accept!

ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Look Bristol City fans, we all know that you are messing your tenna men discreet nappies about this deal, We are taking your best player I can understand you being a little annoyed, But at the end of the day our club is so much BIGGER than yours. We have AMBITION, reasonable amount of MONEY, great MODERN stadium, WORLD class manager, far BIGGER fan base. I think you should just give this one up, its dog it dog and im afraid you are a Yorkshire terrier in this league. I for one cant wait to see Maynard in a LCFC shirt for the forth coming Real Madrid match. END OF Is that genuinely what you think? No offence but I think thats the arrogant kind of attitude that makes a lot of other clubs hate us. Bristol City have the potential to be a big club with a big fan base and as much as I'd like Maynard to sign for us I could actually understand him not wanting to swap Bristol for us at this moment.

Bristol have money, have ambition, and if all goes well, will be getting a beaut new stadium

While the Bristol area may be a nice place to live, history suggests that they are not a big club and I doubt very much they will be challenging for promotion this year. There are many reasons for choosing us over them such as better players around him, more money, a better shot at getting to the Premiership etc. It is down to personal ambition. Comfort or trying to attain the highest level possible. As far as I know there have been no interest from Prem clubs so we may well be his fastest ticket to get there. If he was to come he would undoubtedly be, along with Mills if we get him, one of the most important captures of the summer. If he would rather sit out his contract or sign a new deal with Bristol City then we should forget him and look elsewhere. No point in bringing a player to the club who doesn't really want to be here.

Hack Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Right now, I don't see why Maynard needs to be in rush to do anything. He should not be rushed into signing a new contract with Bristol, he does no need to rush into accepting an approach from us or any other championshp club. It is only early July, he may believe that a lower end Premier league team may come knocking as they find their more fancied targets are not easy to get. Time is on his side and if he is the guy we want we wil have to patient. I don't believe for a minute that he is about to sign with anyone when August cms around he and his agent will be in a more urgent mood to fully review any and all options.

MrSpaM Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Ahhh Bristol forums make me laugh, their now banging on about how they'd much rather have Maynard in the squad than Nugent, seem to be in complete denial that we could possibly have both of them playing for us come the start of the season. I think a few of them might actually cry if we sign Maynard
cc_star Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 This probably annoys me more than anything the Bristol fans said. +1 from me, and also
Petchy Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I don't mind FoxyPalace's post because it is written in the same form as every Bristol City fans post I have seen so far. So I'm sure they will be able to understand it due to the delusion and exaggeration surrounding it.
Nunny Fox Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Maynard is a top player and who can blame Bristol fans for wanting to keep him. We may be a bigger club than them but we cant bully teams into selling us their prized assets. We are not leaps and bounds above them are we? We play in the same division and 2 yeas ago we were playing in a lower one so i think some people just need to pipe down and show abit more respect. I think realistically they are one of the teams that think they can sneek a playoff spot s why should they bow down to an apparent bigger club?

Joe. Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Even if Maynard does sign another contract, it doesn't mean a great deal. We all know much value a contract seems to be these days, and a big bid could still entice him away at some point (maybe not this summer but sometime in the near future perhaps). But if was anywhere other than the Premier League I'd be surprised. I think Bristol City just want to tie him down so they're guaranteed some kind of fee somewhere down the line - you can't really blame them for that.
Guest Bilo Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Just me who thinks Foxy Palace is obviously winding up the Brizzle fans? I daresay some of the numpties on OTIB are foaming at the mouth having read it.
RedHux Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Thought McLaren was about to offer him and Moussi new deals? He has but reading between the lines I think Earnie's been offered a lower wage then he thinks he's worth.
Joe. Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Moussi's going to be a big loss for Forest assuming he does head off elsewhere. Wish we'd be going in for him on a free to be honest.
RedHux Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Whilst he can be immense he can also be utter bobbins too. If he goes I think we're down to 13 players with first team experience.
Callabinho Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Whilst he can be immense he can also be utter bobbins too. If he goes I think we're down to 13 players with first team experience. My dads a red and he loved him, however when I saw him he seemed off the pace, inconsistency is a problem with a lot of players at this level! We have a few of our own!
dpjfox Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Has Maynard signed a new contract? or is he just promising to?
Kent Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Offer them 4m and slap a 30k per week contract in his face and lets get it done.
Haydos Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Nasri signed a new contract with Marseilles before leaving so they could get a better price for him and force Arsenal to stump up.
