Nicky Maynard

My dads a red and he loved him, however when I saw him he seemed off the pace, inconsistency is a problem with a lot of players at this level! We have a few of our own!

How did you escape?

Nasri signed a new contract with Marseilles before leaving so they could get a better price for him and force Arsenal to stump up.

The problem with doing this from Maynards point of view would be that, if he really wants Premier league football, there have currently been no Prem bids at his current contract stage/value. With a longer contract the price would be even more unattractive. I suspect he'll just hang on as long as he can and see what happens during this transfer window. The game changer would be if anyone bites at or near to the BCFC asking price. If BCFC accept an offer he's in a completey different situation.

Look Bristol City fans, we all know that you are messing your tena men discreet nappies about this deal, We are taking your best player - I can understand you being a little annoyed, But at the end of the day our club is so much BIGGER than yours. We have AMBITION, reasonable amount of MONEY, great MODERN stadium, WORLD class manager, far BIGGER fan base. I think you should just give this one up, its dog eat dog and I'm afraid you are a Yorkshire terrier in this league. I for one can't wait to see Maynard in a LCFC shirt for the forth coming Real Madrid match. END OF :scarf:

:crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh:

Nothing like a bit of self-belief, eh? There hasn't been a lot of that around our club in recent times.

Bur maybe next time wait until we've actually achieved the results to back up these taunts. A gap of seven points and five places, based on last season's performance doesn't really suggest the chasm in class you imply.

Exactly! Everyone has a price to their club and if we can meet what Bristol city will be willing to sell for, then it puts Maynard in the same position Kasper was in just a short time ago with Leeds. There is no way they can afford his contract to run down & if he has Premier League ambitions but no Premier League clubs interested then his only choice is to join a club which matches his ambition, either that or he just STFU and sign a new deal at BC.

Personally I'll be surprised if we get him, he seems to be nothing more than an interest and things are nowhere near the level they were with CMS. Personally I think we need him or someone similar because swapping out Yakubu for Nugent won't be enough to raise our game to top 2, whereas Nugent - Maynard(or similar) - Gally could be something really special.

I don't mind FoxyPalace's post because it is written in the same form as every Bristol City fans post I have seen so far. So I'm sure they will be able to understand it due to the delusion and exaggeration surrounding it. :D

Exactly

Anyone ITK know if we've submitted another bid yet? I know we were going to at some point this week and Sven wants the squad more or less complete by the weekend apparently. Not unless we're not looking for another striker now Nugent is in?

just had an official sms from city saying we've rejected two more bids from an unamed championship club.

Why are they publicly announcing when they reject bids? I don't seen a reason why they'd do it apart from to 'prove' to their fans that they aren't selling him, but all they would need to do is release a statement for that.

What's the problem in doing so? It just gives the club a chance to reinstate the fact that they do not wish to sell him.

Hopefully it will put ideas in Nicky's head and he will reject the contract and hand in a transfer request.

'Talks continue with Nicky and his representatives with regard to a new contract' doesn't sound much like as good as signed to me. Surely rejecting two bids and then announcing the agreement on the OS would have been the best way to end the saga?

Sven's like a dog with a bone on this one, and no-one should think this is dead until Maynard is on their OS signing a piece of paper with a cheesy grin, and that goes for both sets of fans.

Good to see Sven is still probing with this. Keep throwing enough shit and eventually it'll stick. Maynard needs to force the issue now.

He's ruthless and gets who and what he wants.

"We need to relay the pitch mid-season, and then rip it up and install Desso in June." Top complies.

if maynard wanted to leave he would of handed a transfer request in when the first bid was rejected,

Unless you meet our asking price he's going nowhere we don't need the money

Three bids made will show Maynard that we REALLY want him. Combine that with the fact we're offering generous wages and are looking every inch promotion contenders to the pundits and other clubs, he may start getting itchy feet.
